So, we are driving today, talking about music and she says, "Mom, you aren't going to believe this, but a friend of mine at school has a Maroon 5 t-shirt....everyone loves them." Hmmmm, how to contain the joy? She is looking at me like....go ahead, get it over with. So, I do. "You do know what this means, don't you?" I ask her. She looks at me, eyes all squinty, "What, Mother?" I savor the moment....then, "It means your Mother is....COOL!!!!" Then I do my totally dorky "cool" dance in the drivers seat....and continue on saying things like, "Remember? I wanted that song like three months ago. I knew they would be good....I have the entire cd memorized....I can sing with your friends!" I'm not sure at which point she stopped listening, but I got her attention when I said, "Hmmmm, maybe I'll get a M5 belly shirt, and get a belly ring...." This is where I know she was listening. "OMG MOTHER....that is just SICK!"
I don't care what anyone says....it's fun parenting teens!

Well incase you didnt know... there is a Maroon 5 icon. You could be even cooler and get rid of the stupid Tom one you have!! Oh yeah do the belly ring. I tell every one I am going to get my flab pierced. A nice 3 inch post earring right through it
LOL, I LOVE Maroon 5 myself! I've been wanting the CD and asking all over for it. Maybe I should go check again. My daughter and I heard them together and decided we LIKED! You ARE one cool mom!!!
Oh, yes, I LOVED being a parent to teens .. I think I had MORE fun those years than the earlier years! Maybe cuz we are teens at heart?

I rocked before you because I've had that CD since xmas (well, my daughter got it but it sits in my car's cd player. ) I too know all the songs by heart. My favorite is "She Will Be Loved." We are so cool I can hardly stand us!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMGoodness, I'm with your daughter on this one, I don't like them! LOL I know you like them, but I really get annoyed every time I hear their song on MTV. They are so popular right now and I just don't get it. Oh well, I'll live... ~Melissa

Well, darling daughter, a "disturbing band" would be something like, oh....Korn. Screaming and yelling unintelligable garbage by an overweight, dirty, long-haired pig....yeah, uh-huh. And as for the cool sign....I like it! Love, Mom....and yes, you do owe me one. ;o)

Sorry I haven't been keeping up on my comments, but I have been reading! Isn't that the greatest feeling though when you can finally say to your daughter that she has a cool mom?!? Of course, she thinks you are "lame" as my daughter thinks I am, but it's fun to rub it in! I also do the dorky dance while driving too--slide this way, slide that way, uh-huh, uh-huh, it's your birthday, it's your birthday! Hee-hee! Drives my daughter nuts, cuz someone might "see" me! Love torturing them! It's what I live for!!

My daughter dressed up last halloween as an 80's teen (to mock me I'm sure). I let her wear this old Led Zepplin jacket that I still had from "my day". All the kids freaked out over it and told her she has the coolest mom ever. It all kind of backfired on her, LOL.
It's cute, I have photos of us at the same age wearing the same thing :-)

OH This song is hot...yea I know every single word. We <the kids and I> thought this was the old singer from umm.......that old boy group insink lol I have no clue wow they spelled the name anywa and then we found out it wasn't. It rocks!
hehe i am a 15 year old and i totally thought that whole entry was pretty cute.. my mom does that all the time.. but i am cool with my mom trying to be cool.. i guess cause i know how fun being a teen is and how much she is missing out but then again i think it is more because we are like best friends... and maroon 5 ROCKS!!!!!!! hehe
thats cool, but since you're a mother and i am a teen. i kinda hae trouble. maybe you can help with. i Just told my other i was gay and she freaked so now i have 4 months to change my mind about being you know.. or she'll send me off to my bio-father whom i don't even know because he left when i was only 3. so what sould i do, lie?
