As I was riding up my driveway after taking my dd to the bus stop, I spotted a squirrel standing in my yard. He was so cute....sitting perfectly still, hoping I wouldn't see him. What a day to be without my camera.
I don't know if this is the trend elsewhere, but here in Florida, all the kids ride scooters....they are more popular than bikes among the pre-10 year old set. Every morning the kids race out to the bus stop and spend the wait time riding in circles, trying not to crash into each other. Then, as the bus pulls up, you hear them all dropping to the ground as the kids race to be the first one on the bus. Which, of course, leaves the moms to pick them up and take them home. I didn't notice until this morning, what a sight we all make. There were 5 moms, all over the age of 30, riding scooters down our street. I can only imagine what kind of site that was to anyone who happened to pass by, or look out their window. I have to say, riding that thing makes me feel young again. Rolling along, the wind whipping through my hair....of course, remembering that I am not a kid becomes quite apparent when I hit the curb and trip over myself into the driveway. I wonder what would happen if all of us fell off one morning. Can you imagine the 911 call?
"911, what is your emergency?"
"Ummm, well, I'm looking out my front window, and there are 5 sahm's lying in the street."
"Excuse me sir?"
"Uh, well, it looks like they may have fallen off their scooters."
"Scooters sir?"
"Yes, they are lying at the ends of their driveways with various broken bones...."
"Sir, you do realize that 911 is not a joke and is reserved for true emergencies?"
"No, really....they are out there....robes tangled, soaking up the spilled coffee from their shattered coffee mugs, slippers scattered across the street...."
Oh the humanity....

Aren't they fun to ride? I love my...er...I mean my kid's scooters! :-) Happy Friday!
HAHAHAHA I remember one time I was rollerblading with Sara. I can rollerblade I just can't stop. We were riding down the sidewalk and i was going pretty fast and we were coming to a corner. If I didn't stop I was going to fly off of the curb and into the street. So I grabbed onto a fence , my arms stopped but my feet didnt'. I'm sure it was funny for those watching, but not for me.
I think we need to get this on video tape...Scooters were really big here a couple of years ago, but it seems to have died down a bit. Please stay off the roads with your child's scooter...it's dangerous out there!!!
The picture I have in my head of this scene--HILARIOUS!! Love, Kim
