Remind me NEVER to do eBay again. Here's the story....
As you know, we had the car on eBay as of Sunday evening. We also placed the "buy it now" option on the auction. This means, if someone would click on that button, all bidding would stop and that person would immediately win the auction. We immediately began getting inquiries from would-be buyers, wanting to call and talk to my dh and ask questions.
First of all, lets just say my husband doesn't "get" the whole eBay thing. I had to put the car on the site, deal with the e-mails, etc. So, he calls this one man back, talks to him, and tells him he can have the car (without telling me)....and in the excitement of it all, the guy forgets to hit the "buy it now" button. So, of course, our auction is still going. When he gets home, I had just clicked off eBay, and went to report that the bidding was starting to get good. He then proceeds to tell me that the guy is on his way from Georgia to pick the car up. So, I say....let me go end the auction so no one hits the "buy it now" option before the guy can get here. As I leave the bedroom, I laughingly say, "Well, it's not like someone is going to buy it in the next 2 minutes...." WRONG....
I swear to you, it was not 10 minutes and someone had HIT THE BUTTON. You can't even imagine my horror as I opened my e-mail to, "Congratulations! Your item has sold!" I didn't know what to do! All I could imagine was me, sharing a cell with Martha. (Not that I would complain about my cell mate....)
So, I send an e-mail to the "buyer", explaining the situation and praying that he won't be angry. I couldn't eat or sleep last night, wondering if the eBay police were going to show up at my door. This morning at 7 am, I get an e-mail from the guy, saying he got the message, and "If this seller doesn't come through, I'm still interested in the car." PRAISE BE TOGOD!!!! I almost cried on the spot. I immediately sent off a "thankyouI'msorry" e-mail, and then immediately went to eBay to post OH SO POSITIVE feedback for the guy. I swear to you....this was the first and LAST time I will ever do something like this. It was an honest mistake....I swear I'm not a scammer! LOL.
Many, MANY thanks to Cheezy, Karen and Kim, who felt my pain. I tell you, I never imagined I would find so many wonderful and caring friends here in journal land. I never imagined it to be a "family", like it has become. Even with silly problems, my friends were there to give advice and cheer me up....for that I am truly thankful!

Love the graphic! I've only been on the buying end of eBay, but I can imagine your trauma!
You and Martha sharing a cell...now that's a picture I would pay to see!!! Glad everything worked out for you. I would be in the same boat as you because I have never bought or sold on ebay before (though I know people who have). It's amazing how quickly the car sold! Good for you!!!
LOL!!!!!!!!!
I was cracking up, you had me on the edge of my seat though. :)
I love your journal... I am finding that a lot of Lanny's list is Awesome!!!
I am gonna have to add you to my list, and hope you come see mine, it's funny because my Journal is called At Home, and life of a stay-at-home Girlfriend. LOL

I used to shop eBay every single day and then it became addicting! I mean, how many Jon Bon Jovi items do you really need right? The "Buy it now" option wasn't being used much then, just the bidding. I would go into a frenzy not wanting to leave my computer for that last minute bidder that would ALWAYS outbid me right before time was up! I think that's great how you got 2 actual "buy it now" buyers! I don't think many people can say that happened! And, I am happy this other buyer wasn't upset. A big PHEW on that part!!
Hugs and love, Lisa
LOL, I've always been wary of e-bay and won't let Aaron buy anything from there. haha :) I don't know. I guess I just don't trust people. At least the other guy was cool and hopefully the guy from Georgia comes through! ~Melissa
Once the ebay police came after me, but I took it to ebay court and was found to be in the right. Okay reading your update now.
