The talk about the bus goes round and round....

I went to the bus stop nice and early this morning, so that I wouldn't have to worry about being there at the designated time. Immediately, the first mom down there starts in on the bus being early. Okay, I'll give her a chance, since she was not here yesterday for all the drama, although her daughter did miss it because while trying to run she fell and cut her knee. (Dad was bringing her down). So, she and I are chatting and I try to get out of talking about it by saying, yes, we need to be here within a ten minute window....

Then, up saunters "pc" mom who immediately says, "Are you two chatting about the bus situation?" Oh for pete's sake. Yes, we were, but we could have been talking about anything....why start it again? So, off she goes on her little tangent....man, I am so sick of hearing this whining. Here's my remedy for the situation....

1.) Leave the house 5 minutes before we need to be at the stop.
2.) Shut up.

See? Simple. The thing that I have observed is that being here in the south, people here are a LOT slower than up north. They saunter out of the house, coffe in hand, barefoot, 5 minutes after we are supposed to be there, and expect everyone else to wait! I'm sorry, but I suppose that is part of my northern upbringing that I will never outgrow. I'm on time and usually early for everything. I have no patience for people who are late. It's just disrespectful....(barring an emergency, car trouble, sick child). So, that being said....*end rant.

I'm having trouble deciding what to do first today. Should I clean, then go grocery shop? Or should I make out my list and go first. I hate leaving the house a mess....but today Betsy is bringing a friend home to spend the night, and I won't feel like I can vacuume around her. Although, it's never stopped me before.  Today is also the first day that our local grocery store will be in it's new location. I'm not thrilled with that. The old location was such a cozy, family store. Now it's big and impersonal. I suppose I better get used to it though....sometimes I hate progress.

Alright, I have to decide what I'm doing here. I hope everyone has a lovely day....

Good Morning,
I hear you on this subject. But you know what i think it is? Some people are just at their happiest when they are complaining about something. These people probably have no witty conversation to offer so they WHINE! I actually enjoy our bus stop but it is right out my door and there is only one other Mom and she is great, lucky me! I say hit the store first then you don't need to ruch through cleaning. I am off to clean now! Wanna race, ha ha ha. Have a great day! Kim

I think you've got the bus situation figured out perfectly. A true northern person has to be on time to be whole. I hate being late and hate those that are always late. bugs the s h i t out of me. Go shopping first, I am hahaha who knows, if your store relocated to Washington, we may run into eachother hahaha Hugs Lanny

One of my pet peeves is lateness.  I almost think it is an inherited trait.  I have a knack for being right on time, I can usually time things perfectly.  My husband and his family (In-Laws) see nothing wrong with being late for things and I mean really late.  One time they were 2 hours late for Thanksgiving!

Complaining is a way of bonding, I think.  Better than talking about the weather!  I am guilty of being late...almost always 5 minutes late.  Early stresses me out (I worry I am in the wrong place on the wrong date, etc.  On time is just, LUCKY, I think...5 minutes late is JUST right...I guess I would annoy the crap out of you!  Sorry!  JAE

Well this New England girl is ALWAYS late!  I hate to be early, it's something I have perfected over the years.  If I am early I tend to have anxiety attacks!  I solved the bus problems years ago though, I drive my children to and from school!  That way they can have an extra 1/2 an hour of sleep and Mom doesn't have to freak out making sure they are outside waiting for the bus!
Hugs and love, Lisa

You seem a little stressed.  Maybe Southerners have the right idea in not taking life so seriously.  Are you REALLY doing a count down to Christmas already???  Maybe you should take a tip from the flip-flop mentality of Floridians and chill just a bit.

I had to laugh when I read this as we were discussing punctuality at work yesterday.  We were on the topic as I had made a big song & dance telling everyone I'd be late for work, writing it in the diary & on the rota, as I had an appointment, but somehow I  arrived only about a minute late. My colleagues were saying that I'm obviously physically incapable of being late anywhere. My late is the time everyone else turns up.I'm with you...why bother with times at all if we don't keep to them?? I'm usually early to everything.

LMFAO!!! Yes I am with you all the way! I too like to be on time and I don't like waiting for other people. Must just be the northern in me! LOLOLOL

I am always early for anything, it makes life so much easier and setting of 5 mins early doesn't kill anybody.
I prefer small and friendly shops to the big ones, but eventually I suppose they will not exist, which is a shame. Hope you manges to vacuum around the girls, lol.....Jules xx

That's one thing I am not looking forward to with the new school year....the nosey, gossipy, complaining Mothers.  I just try and look the other way...and then I hear them talking about me!!  Not looking forward to it at all.  Hang in there!!
hugs, Julie

Buses, buses, what are we going to do with them!  I get irritated with them in a different sense.  I'm always on time and lateness grates under my skin.  They certainly shouldn't complain if there is a set time to be there.  Next time, tell her to shove it and shut up.

I'm lucky that our bus stop is small.
