Yes, my pool is very green, and very scary. I have spent a small fortune trying to get it clear using algaecide, shock, calcium, alkalinity, and stabalizer. All on the professional recommendation of my local pool store. So, frustrated I go in today and when I take the water to be tested he asks how the pool looks. I say, "CRAPPY!" He nervously laughs and I explain I use REVACIL not CHLORINE and he looks at me with this "awww man" look. He gets the local expert who in turn asks me what I've put into it. I rattle off my list and he stops me. "You put in stabalizer?"...."Yes, they told me to."...."Are you sure you put that in?"...."Yes, right there, those bottles."....he has this look of oh crap on his face. He then explains to me that whoever told me to do that was WRONG. He said it was for chlorinated pools and points it out on the lable. I tell him I realized that, and reminded the guy twice that I was NOT using chlorine, and he still told me to use it. Not once, but TWICE. So, he comps me a bunch of chemicals, and tells me what to do. I walk away with $50 of chemicals and am now in the process of trying to fix the pool again. Sheesh! He promised that by tomorrow, it should be a cloudy blue, then with a few days of filtering, I should be back to crystal clear. What did I tell you? Just in time for the girls to go back to school. Oh, the joys of pool ownership....
Apart from that, nothing much is going on today. I'm waiting for dh to come inside so we can decide if we are going anywhere. The cold front from Canada has swept through, and we are at a chilly 87 right now, so we might as well take advantage of it. Perhaps we will head out to St. Augustine....although with the weather, everyone and his brother probably have the same idea.
Okay, the bell is dinging, and it's time to add 2 gallons of shock....here's hoping....

Good luck with the pool Sherry, I hope it's get fixed so you can at least enjoy it the rest of the summer. Hugs Lanny
Sorry to hear about your pool. They are great to have but a pain in the butt to take care of...at least in Fla you can probably still use it into the fall months. Here in NY we close it up right after Labor Day:( Good Luck with it! Kim
Last year when we were having pool problems we went to our local pool place and the young guy told us what to add to our pool, we gave him a sampleing of our water...well it ended up his advice was way off and it nearly screwed up our pool...we've since got the home kit and test the water ourselves and add the chemicles we feel it needs...we still have to shock it constantly because of the very hot temps here though....but the pool is doing good ...for now anyway.
can you get compensation for wrong advice and having to put up with a green pool? Hope you get it sorted soon and its crysal clear again :)...........Jules xx
Well I don't know what's worse you with a green pool and hot weather or me with a crystal clear pool and freezing weather...Neither of us can swim
So, let me get this straight, you don't put chlorine in your pool? I don't get it! Call me a blonde, it's okay, I have been one before, but here when you have a pool you HAVE to use chlorine! I don't know what the diff is, but if it's yucky green, whatever it takes, just to make it crystal clear, then I would do it too!! Gee, maybe I want to rethink my envy re: everyone having a pool huh?!
Hugs and love, Lisa
My pool is a cloudy blue after I put in 2 and a half bags of shock and 4 baby sand shovels full of clorine brite. There is algae on the walls I can't get off but I did sweep up the algae on the floor. I don't know how to hook up the vacuum and all so that ain't getting done. It's pissing me off I wanna go in it.
oh wow I hope it clears up for you soon! That is so frustrating.
I've totally enjoyed the wonderful cool front we've been having this weekend and wish it would last. There is hardly any humidity in the air :)
