Run, run as fast as you can....

Yes, this is how I feel right now. Since the girls have started back to school, I'm running around like a complete nut! I get up early, I sign papers, I pack lunches....and then of course they come home with the usual; "Your child needs $5/$10/$15 for _____", which means running to the bank for cash (why oh why don't the schools take checks????). Now today I have to go get the school supplies that Betsy needs. I should have known better than to try to pre-buy for her. There are always such specifics....she can have a three ring binder with three dividers OR a three subject notebook, but it must have perferated edges for that "tidy" look. Okay, I've got plenty of time to walk around the school supply section, digging through massive piles of notebooks for just the right one. Good thing I just looked at her paper, as she also needs index cards and a "small pocket calculator capable of scientific notation"....

As for wee one, I need to send in my $5 for the PTA, so that their room can have 100% participation, which I always do. Oh! And they accept checks for this one....great. However, I do need to go buy her a new water bottle for her desk, as she lost hers on the bus yesterday. Actually, she had gotten it free at a church function, and the seal was broken so it leaked....so I suppose she was due for a new one anyway. I'm going to splurge and get her a nice Rubbermaid one. No more wet bookbags this year!

Okay, I've GOT to get off my butt and start my day. I am beginning to get sleepy sitting here. Have a good one....

ugh thats what I hate about school starting, all the running around. We have meet the teacher on Friday and of course they don't give Caitlin her full school supply list until then. Our school doesn't take checks either except for a few things. I don't get it, I think its some sort of conspiracy, lol
Have fun running around and get a bowl of ice cream when your done :)

Just think when we start school here, you all will be in the swing of things and be able to sit back, relax and chuckle at us.  Although my hubby already had to give my son mucho bucks for school and it hasn't even started.

Our school loves money in any shape, size, or form. My problem is, I have buy extra checks to keep up with the requests!

The schools always have their hands out in the beginning of the year and it can drive you broke when you have a few kids to buy for...not to mention all the fund raisers we have to participate in

Our schools do take checks for somethings but not for other things. One year..back in the day. It was some sort of pta anniversary across the country. Our school wanted 100 percent signup in the whole school to celebrate and have an icecream party for the kids if it was accomplished. I was working 3-11 and I didn't know. The pta was calling my phone and I wasn't picking up because I would sleep after I dropped the kids at school in the morning. Well, I finally answer the phone one day after a freakin' month. They inform me..I am the only mother in the whole school that hasn't signed up and I am holding up the icecream party celebration so would i please sign up and send in five bucks too for the party that if not everyone would be mad at my daughter. That's what the women said. LOL Boy did I feel terrible. So now I sign up....soon as I get that notice. ANNOYING! My son just looked at your grapic and said, "NICE ONE MOM" lol

My son just started his first day of kindergarten (my first in school) and boy did I learn that lesson lol I hit walmart gettin alllllll ready for school stuff, and BANG! She wanted a TON of stuff that wasn't on there and most of what I bought was useless lol Now on day three I find that I am more tired than he is as he wont take cereal as a breakfast, so am up at 4am to cook something then get him and my 18 month old ready for the bus stop (which they refuse to move close) that is on the OTHER end of this HUGE block we live on lol I soooo sympathize with you lol

I think that is awful being pressurised into sending money to school. I also think in this day and age, where people are mugged for just a few coppers in money, they should accept cheques at schools. Its much safer to send kids to school with cheques. Have a protest, I will support you from over here ;).....Jules xxx

Oh boy can I relate!  Fortunately our schools take checks!  I'm also appalled at the amount of things we are required to provide as "school supplies".  For my third grader I had to buy:  paper towel, three boxes of kleenes, baby wipes, band aids, hand disinfectant, zip log bags and some other things I can't remember!  I just don't think that is reasonable.  Today being the third day of school, my three children each came home requiring more checks, and they were for some large ticket items.  65 dollars for rental of an orchestra uniform and 100 dollars for orchestra fees.  oh i could go on, but i just realized i am beating this thing to death, lol.  hope the rest of your week is better!  Pamela

OMGosh, the schools sure do always have something that takes our money.  Now cheer is doing it!  It's great they like their teachers.  I always hated mine. LOL  How about the stack of forms the kids bring home for us to fill out.  They always ask the same question 10 times.  OK, I didn't really come here to vent.  I bet you'll be in the swing of things in no time. ~Melissa
