Ooops....

Sorry to those who received an alert....when there was actually no entry! And thanks to GrodyGeek for pointing out that my telephone entry consisted of silence then a "hello?".

I was going to be lazy and put in a phone entry, when my mother called. I answered the call waiting beep, and forgot that I was on the other line with aol. So, when my call ended with my mom, I hung up....and the phone immediately rang. I didn't see a caller id, so I quietly listened, said hello and hung up. Afterward I remembered I had not disconnected with aol, but knew it wouldn't record since you have to push the # key. However, it apparently did record....my one word entry. Whoopie ding!

So, here I sit, after a lengthy "live technical help" session with aol. Not regarding the journal entry, but the fact that I have been disconnected from the service no less than 10 times today, can't retrieve my mail without freezing or being booted, and there is no way I can even instant message. It is so frustrating, especially when I am paying a small fortune each month for broadband. Of course, I complain yet am so addicted I would never get rid of aol....so they got me. *Sigh.

I have an e-mail waiting with, I'm sure, 10 pages of instructions on how to fix all of my problems....and me being the technical genius that I am, will probably screw it up so bad that I won't be able to get on for the next week.

So, I'm off to read and print and hopefully fix my mess. Fingers crossed I'll be posting tomorrow....and if not, you know you can count on a one-word phone entry, which, if I've screwed things up, will be a completely un-veiled vulgarity!

Well, I didn't need a pimping, nor felt you needed to explain, but both are okay.

By the way, you look simply marvelous in your photo to the left.

AOL and I have a love/hate relationship as well.  My husband gets a discount and we only pay 3 bucks a month... now that I have found J-land, I don't think I could leave.  I guess they are a lot like husbands sometimes, you can't live with them, or without them.

Have a great Memorial Weekend!

The AOL stuff is happening with us as well. I too won't switch from AOL.  Maybe it's because I've been with them since almost their existance.  Hopefully you won't have to hard of a time fixing everything.  Good luck!

Good luck with the "instructions" AOL emails to you!  Whenever they send me instructions they are not even on the subject or problem I called on!!  I swear they just look through their index of problems, and pick one with their eyes closed, and that's the one you get!  It's more frustrating calling AOL than trying to figure things out yourself I think personally.  But, then again, if you bitch enough to AOL they will give you free months, so it's worth the hassle sometimes.  And, no matter how well they train their "techs" in India, they still don't get it!  There is something that gets lost in the problem and the translation.  Like I said, more frustrating trying to call them!!
Hugs and love, Lisa

I'll bet they told you to completely delete AOL from your computer and reinstall it.  It seems everytime I have a problem, that what I have to do.  I hope you got it all figured out and everything is working for you. ~Melissa

I have days when I get disconnected time and time again, and then I have other days when it doesn't happen once.  Sometimes I think that AIM thing screws with my computer because if I turn it off, I don't get disconnected so much.  I don't even have broadband--what's the difference, besides the price?  Hope you got it all fixed.  I do the aol computer checkup and then follow the instructions on how to fix it and usually it helps.
