One more Monday to go....

My kids have only two weeks of school left before summer vacation....where did the year go? Which of course means that I won't have to make a lunch every day for wee one. However, every year the same thing happens....two weeks before the year ends, I start running out of things for her lunches. I am down to my last 3 plastic spoons for her pudding/jello/fruit cups, my baggies are almost gone, I thought I had just enough juice boxes to make it, the salami package only has 5 slices left and two of them are hard....you see what I mean? I hate to go out and restock everything this late in the game. This happenes every year. You would think I'd learn by now.

This week wee one's school is having a special reading program. Parents volunteer in two hour shifts to come in and read to their child's class and any other classes that need readers. I get to read on Wednesday and Thursday. I'm looking forward to it. I love volunteering at school. The kids are so cute and they love it when you recognize them....makes them feel special. Of course, I am talking about elementary school here....God forbid if I ever waved across the courtyard to my dd in high school!
"Why no, I have no idea who that crazy woman is waving at me."

Anyway, I went to the public library and picked out two really cute books to read to the kids. I also get to peruse the assortment of books the librarian will have available to the readers.

Today is "I'm sorry we ran over your lawn so we are sending someone to fix it" day. The sod company will be out sometime this morning to repair our front lawn. We really need new grass out there....I told hubby he should do a few donuts in the yard....maybe they would fix it all. But being the honest folk that we are, we didn't do that.

Wee-one has finished her breakfast of chicken noodle soup, andis now waiting for me to attempt to brush the tangled mess that is her hair....good Monday morning everyone!

We have a little over 4 weeks left here.  I am sure looking forward to school being done this year, homework has been a real hassle all year.  Each day a little more gray showed up.  What kind of plans do you have for the summer?  Does Wee One go to any camps?

LOL, apparently my sister and I think alike also.  She left her comment only 2 minutes before I did and we live in separate time zones!  Pretty amazing.

We have about 2 weeks left here too, time sure does fly! I'm running out of lunch items myself and I'm like you hate to restock so late in the school year. I may give them lunch money, yikes! lol but I think they will survive. Have a great Monday :)

What fun for  your daughters class to have you read to them. :)  You have such a wonderful voice. :)

Schools don't let out in CA until mid June ~ my youngest or wee one (6'2") is graduating this year.

Chicken noodle soup for breakfast???

A huge truck once pulled over our lawn.  I went out and yelled at him and he just
said, "Sorry" and kept on driving.  I was going to call and complain but it was a one man operation so I would just hear "Sorry" again.  I was so mad!!
Another time,  a huge cement truck hit our mailbox.  I went out to get the mail, and I had to reach WAY UP to reach the box.  It took a moment to register.  He pulled it right out of the ground.  I was mad but no one on the site spoke English so I figured it was a lost cause.  Hubby fixed it himself no problem.  What has happened to integrity???

I hate the packing of the lunches part of being a mom!!  UGGHHH!  It gets so boring at about this time of year, same old crap every day!  You would think they would tire of it, but they don't.  My dd loves seeing me in the middle school so far, but she is only in 6th grade, we'll see next year!  She even kisses me in front of everyone still -- guess I am lucky huh?!  We have school until June 22nd (because of snow days), but I don't mind!  That's less of the "I'm bored(s)!" that I have to hear!
Hugs and love, Lisa

I posted a comment on your Mother's Day post and thought I should include a link to my journal if anyone wished to read a different kind of At-Home Mom Journal.  I really didn't give a lot of thought to others reading it when I wrote; not every entry deals with motherhood/kids -- but I go on binges and tangents depending on where I feel most motivated to write something out of my system!  :-D

It is amazing how fast the school year has gone, isn't it?  Sad to think (at least for me) the end of year means the kids are another year older.  I remember the days of the lunches and trying to make it through the end of the year.  Thankfully with both in high school, mine buy now.  Something they NEVER would do in elementary or middle.  Sweet of you to read to the kids, I'm sure they will enjoy it, as much as you!
