This graphic says it all....I've been having horrible computer trouble. I can't log on, and when I do I freeze, or I get an "error", or I get a journal half loaded and it stops....I have probably re-booted, no joke, 50 times in the last two days. Aaaarrrgggghhhh! It's been so frustrating. However, on a good note, my updates seem to be working again....as I have 12 of them sitting in my mail box.
Not much else is going on. I finished my second day of reading to the little darlings at school....which was quite comical. They have two days of the readings, with three readers each day. Apparently that is too much for elementary kids, because I lost them around page three of the second book. Even the fourth grade safety patrol escort I had said to me, "Boy, they were rude", as we came out of the second class. Too funny!
Let me explain, our school is not so rough and tough you need a safety escort. In our school, once you get into the fourth or fifth grade, depending on your grades and conduct, you can apply to become part of the "safety patrol". You get to work with the crossing guards, patrol the halls and tell your classmates, "Don't run!" or ask them "Do you have a hall pass????". However I think the real reason kids want to be on the patrol are the lovely, lime green flourescent sp belts you get to wear. Hey, that would seal the deal for me....
Anyway, each reader was assigned a safety patrol escort, to help you find the rooms. Which was good because I had no idea where any of them were. We have a pretty big open campus, so classes are spread all over. And I had one fourth grade class (unbelieveably my best behaved, and most excited class), and I've never been to the fourth and fifth grade building. I went out and got thank-you cards for my patrol girls....thank goodness the yearbooks came out yesterday, so I can look them up to find some last names!
It seems like I haven't been home all week. I've been driving all over the place....and my gas tank is almost empty. Better start filling out loan applications.....I'm gonna need it to fill 'er up. What is with these gas prices? I can't believe it. I refused to buy the $1.86 gas on Monday....and now it's $1.91. I'm going to have to really try to save gas this summer. Thank goodness for the pool. I can't believe how high the prices are getting....dh rode his motorcycle to work today, as the truck eats up the gas so quickly. He could fill up the bike for $5.00....which is a LOT cheaper.
Time to take Betsy to the bus stop.....have a lovely Friday everyone!

Gas prices gee do not remind me I have a messed up gas gauge could that be any worse. I have to save money but with the gas prices gee lost
Sorry to hear that you've had computer problems. It's such a pain in the a**!!
The alert mess was bad enough on it's own. Hope it's all straightened out for you now.
:)
Kat
welcome back :) Yes I think the alerts are now fixed, I hope anyway. I hope your computer problems are over with also.
Ugh gas prices! We're at 1.90 here. We've been buying the walmart gift card and filling up there, you save 3 cents and it does add up.
It sounds like you had a great time at the school. Ben and I are chaperoning the spring fling next week at the boys school. Theme is Luau, should be interesting, lol.
OMG--I was a safety patrol in the 5th grade! I still have my pin that I was given at the end of the year. Sorry about the computer problems--that can be such a pain! My van has been guzzling the gas, as well. Today I'll be filling up to take Cameron to his dad's for the weekend--I guess I'd better prepare myself to fork out about $35! Ugh! Love, Kim
I think the gas thing is annoying everyone. I wish the motorcycle saved us money on gas, but Aaron insists on putting premium gas in it, which is over $2 now. I think it took $10 the last time he filled her up. That doesn't help any. ~Melissa
Read me a story...................hugs Lanny
About time you're back! Glad you had fun reading to the kids, hope you remembered your water bottle this time.
I filled my car up yesterday, it was on fumes, cost me $50+!!! UGH!
Hope your computer problems are fixed. Have a great weekend, any plans?
Gas up here is over $2 now!Yikes!Glad your back,I hate computer problems.I've been visiting your mom's journal. Now I know where you the cleaning thing from.KIM
I have been getting booted off aol every 10 minutes for two days. Every single time I hit a web site...I'm gone..it restarts and freezes while it's starting. It's them not us!
I'm glad your two days of torture are over. LOL
Welcome Back my friend. :) I think we can all identify with the frustrations computers pose at times. Hope it stays fixed for a while. Kimmie
Sara complains because I won't put the air conditioning on in the van. I only use it when me and Evy are sittin gin the parking lot at school waiting for her to come out. Then when she gets in I shut the air off, it drives her nuts. I told air or horseback? Because to ride 5 miles with the air on is like an entire trip to the barn with no air. And our one grocery store has a gas station and when you spend so much money at the store you get coupons for money off gas. When we do a big shopping trip we get a free tank of gas.
Here's something I found on someone else's journal that may help you:

It gives the lowest gas prices in your area... I don't know what I am going to do when I travel this summer from Austin to Atlanta and then do the Tour de Relatives N/S of the Mason-Dixon. Need a wireless palm pilot to check rates! Ha! No such luck for me... Will have to just expect to pay $2/gal. for a trip to Ocean City this summer.
Speaking of trips... Has anyone gotten AOL by Phone to work for Journal Entries yet? Shana
Am having some of the same problems myself. Am very close to taking a vacation from journaling until things are better.
Glad your computer and AOL are behaving again. Have a great day! ~Erin
OH NO!!! Hope your computer is feeling better!!! Gald you had fun at school!! Happy Friday!! ~Julie
I agree with you about gas prices, at this rate we are all going to be either really healthy by walking ( not an option in fla..lol) or staying home too much. Rode by a gas station on my way home tonight, regular was $2.06..ridiculous!! Good lcuk on computer probs, recently been there and doing same thing. had to reformat the hard drive..=( Take care,
Brenda
just went to the gas station $ 2.09 a gallon...yikes looks like im grounded to the computer for awhile....awe shucks....LOL

Computer tip.....Make you you can hear your fan running!! I just went through some similar problems and come to find out my fan attached to my mother board (about a $30 dollar part) had went out....I kept turning it on and using, and come to find out I could have turned the entire thing into a $200 plus job! If your fan is out it can fry your mother board, and that's expensive! THere are a few other things it could be....I just went through this! Major headache! Your hard drive might be getting ready to crash, and if that's the case you want to be able to save all your files to disks before it does that. You could have a virus! You may have accidentally deleted important window files (I've done this before and didn't even realize what I was doing). These are just a few things! Ok for the fan...listen to see if it is buzzing, sometimes you can't hear it, and may need to take the cover off...run the computer...see if all fans are spinning...(oh yeah...you could have some major dust in there too..that causes it to heat faster) For you hard drive...usually you can hear it wobbeling or actually making a click/clank sound...something along those lines. Virus...bad ones are going around right now, including one that you can get just from being logged on to the web...you don't even have to open an e-mail. Windows files...you'd have to reinstall windows.....I was unlucky when it happened to me, because my window files were not a seperate disk, they were on my system disk, that called for me to format my entire hard drive!! Anyway...sorry for such a long post, I feel your agravation! If you need any help feel free to e-mail me. If I don't know the answer I know a few computer geeks that I bug 24/7 for help...lol
omgosh! my computer was doing the same thing...and the journal wouldnt let me upload pictures. And I kept getting something about cookies? I dunno but those elementary kids sure sound fun! LoL Patrols and stuff. Yea my brother also has a bike and he says its awhole lot cheaper than a car with this gas stuff. I think when I get older..Im gonna get one! haha -Rae Ann
AOL has been freezing up on us quite a bit lately, quite frustrating! Glad to hear the reading for the little ones went well, how funny they can be at times. As for the gas prices...locally it's $2.08 for a gallon of regular unleaded. I won't buy it close to home and sometimes I hope and pray I can make it down I-4 to a cheaper station where I will have to pay no less than $1.89. Somethings gotta give on the gas issues here, don't they?
Hey, I was a safety patrol when I was that age and we DIDN'T get the lime green vest ~ I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cheated!
Glad you are once again up and running.
Monica
sorry to hear your computer got the plauge honey. but you are pretty and live in florida so ya can't have everything :) i love reading your journal by the way. and it has cheered me up today bigtime. hope everything is well and speak to you soon. xoxo traceylee
I was thinking that maybe you could take one of those patrol boys with you to the gas station, and possibly the flourescent green garb would give you and edge and you might get a break at the pump? What do you think.....be thankful you moved to Florida, two days ago regular unleaded was 2.10 in Indiana....another reason to be glad you moved LOL Fudgie
Thanks for telling me AOL by Phone works for you. I will put that on my moving checklist to resubscribe, for the 3rd time in 6 months, before we leave Austin so I can post entries by phone!
And yes... I understand how Safety Patrol belts seem to come with super powers and self-esteem to those lil tweeners that are accepted into the new ranks of responsibility...! Aren't they cute? My girlfriend who teaches 5th grade in VA and governs her school's SP kids says she has to constantly teach kids how to keep a lid on the power trips that seem to come with some of the belts.
Shana
Sherry comeeeeeeeeee back!
