Only 4 1/2 days until my girls are on summer vacation. However, I am already done with my days of freedom, alone in my house. Why you ask? I forgot that this week my husband will be working the afternoon shift. When he said there was a possibility of this, I did not calculate the correct week of his being home during the day....and it wasn't until 4:30 on Friday afternoon that I realized....my summer has begun.
I had such plans for my last week of sanity. I was going to take in a movie one day, stroll quietly by myself through the mall, looking at things that I wanted to look at, perhaps even go to lunch at a quaint little restaurant and order quiche and raspberry iced tea. But, alas, there will be none of that for me.
Today was a very nice day, however. We took the boat out this morning and cruised around for about three hours. It must have been reptile day on the river, as we saw about 10 turtles sunning themselves....and one alligator. I couldn't believe it when I saw him. I pointed and yelled for the girls to look....Betsy said, "Cool!"
John said, "I've never seen one this close!"
Wee-one said, "DON'T STOP THE BOAT DAD, SPEED UP!!!!"
Apparently she had the same feelings I did....let's just look at it from afar....I did take a picture of him, but my ygp isn't working right now.
A while later we dropped anchor (well, we dropped two of them actually), and wee one and dh fished. They didn't catch anything....but had a fun time casting. We then head off for one more run under the bridge and back home. We are all sunburned....dh got it on his knees, Betsy on everything, wee one and I got it mostly on our arms. It was a gorgeous day, warm with sunny skies and no humidity. Our spring has been wonderful.
Anyway, that's about it for today. No other plans except to watch the Simpsonsat 8:00. Wee one is pestering me to play a game with her....so I am off to Pretty-pretty Princess land....or Trouble land....or perhaps Memory land....

Sounds like a fun day to me. :) Kimmie
Great day for you! We are spending the day on what is with any luck the last project of the year for my 4th grader. I really can't take too much more of this.
Maybe you could still get a fun day in before the kids are off or get some fun in with DH at least. :::wink, wink:::
Your outing on your boat sounds wonderful. Good luck with the DH working the afternoon shift thing...My kids go until the 25th so I have a couple of extra days more than you, but not much....Hope you have a good night!
Sounds like such a great day...I'd love to spend a day on the water. My kids still have a ways to go...they're not out until June 18! Of course, they also don't start back until after Labor day. Makes for a LOOOOONNNGGG summer.
:)

I remember something like that happened to me. I had plans for that last week of school ~ some alone time/down time before summer started. Then it happened. My ex was injured on the job the week before school let out and I was catering to his needs then I had the kids. I should mention that the ex got injured on a fairly regular basis ... his back would hurt and he would take time off and expect me to stop all my duties. OK, I'll get off my soap box.
Sounds like you had a nice day out on the boat though! Have a FUN filled summer. ;)

Sounds like you had a great day! Hope you have many more this summer with your girls. ((hugs)) :o) Kyla
You make me so jealous with the countdown until summer vacation! I even told the girls at my work that your kids are out in less than a week! NO FAIR! We still have 5 more weeks of school here, which means 5 more weeks of work for me! BLAH! How come you guys get out of school so early?!?! Do you start really early? Or is this just the Florida way of life? If so, maybe I will rethink moving to a place with heat and humidity. NOT! And, YIPES on seeing an alligator up close! No thank you!!
Hugs and love, Lisa
LUCKY!! Sounds like you had a wonderful day out on the boat!! Yesterday we were in winter coats at an outside birthday party!! WE FROZE TO DEATH!! Enjoy your weather, you could live in Wisconsin!!! LOL!! Three and a half weeks for the end of school here...summer is still a long way off for us or so it seems. :o) Glad you had a great day! ~Julie
I hear ya! This is my kidos last week also. I just dread having to constantly pick up after them! Other than that, i'm looking forward to all of the outdoor excursions we have planned. Angie http://journals.aol.com/asckb/blog
My kids get out a week from tomorrow *sigh* The time does fly by!
Sounds like a lovely Sunday day on the boat :)
Stopping bye hello
Hope everyones sunburn is better now. I would have been really scared about the alligator and might have screamed...'FASTER DADDY PLEASEEEEEE"
Turtles and alligators and sunburn, oh my! LOL! I'm trying not to stress over summer vacation. "Trying" being the key word, here! Love, Kim
