This morning I got up and took Betsy to the bus stop, then came home to dh still snoring in bed. I started my morning routine, and brought wee one into my room to watch "Garfield and Friends", after which I asked her what she would like for breakfast. I went through the usual rundown of what we had, and of course she said no to everything. Then she began her chant, "Egg and cheese, egg and cheese, egg and cheese, egg and cheese....", while holding her arms up and pounding her fist to the beat.
I told her it was too much to make on a school morning, I told her I didn't have time....then I caved and said okay. I couldn't help it....she was lying there, hair all messy, that cute little 'just woke up' look on her face....I was helpless. This is when dh says, "Jeez, that's an awful lot of work for a school day breakfast isn't it?" Translation: Can I have one too?
So, I go off to the kitchen and begin making her "egg and cheese" (sandwich, on toast), and dh comes out in his skivvys and says again, "I can't believe you are going to cook on a school morning." I ignore him and keep working. He says, "So that's what eggs look like....I haven't had them in a while." I turn to him and say, "You can't have any, unless you do the dance." For a moment he looks at me, then realizes what I mean. He rolls his eyes....and begins the chant, arms raised, looking like a total dweeb, "Egg and cheese, egg and cheese, egg and...." Needless to say, I fixed it for him. They are both quite satisfied with their breakfast....sitting and watching "Arthur" together.
Anyhoo, I am taking advantage of their morning bonding and spending a few moments here in j-land. Have a wonderful Monday everyone....

lol talk about him majorly hinting, thats a guy for you. I'm glad he had to do the "dance" too, lol.
Hope you have a great Monday :)
At least you get a little entertainment in return for a "gourmet" weekday breakfast! The idea of a grown man doing the "egg and cheese" dance in his skivvies just jolted ME awake!! Have a great day!
Ah, you're such a June Cleaver...I'm hungry for eggs too. I'm doing the dance--do I get some???
How funny, if I did the dance here, would you poof me up an egg and cheese sandwich? I'm dancin', I'm dancin'!
I totally related to the breakfast rundown and "no" to everything. Sounds like you are much calmer about it than I am. That is definitely a weekend b'fast, what a nice mom to make "egg and cheese" for wee one and hubby. Just don't tell Betsy, she might get jealous. ; )
You must be the nicest Mom there is. My dh loves egg and cheese sandwiches too.
Hehehehe You crack me up! I'll fix you eggs and cheese if you dance for me :-) Hugs Lanny
You are such a sucker. Breakfast in my house is serve yourself. Usually just juice. Actually Sara's getting pretty good at making eggs. Evy is sick again so I'm not sure when I'll get on.
Now WHY didn't you get your husband on video for all of us to see! I'm sure that HAD to be a sight and would've been better than any friggin celebrity encounter! :)
Have a great day!

hahaha I can picture it now. What a fun morning at your house. Can I come for breakie tomorrow?! lol :) Love, Kimmie
LOL, that's too funny...the egg and cheese dance!! LOL. I would have loved to see that!! Have a great day! Julie
I always feel terrible for not making the kids a home cooked meal for breakfast. It's good to know that I'm not alone in the once in a while, world of egg and cheese sandwiches! Ps.. I live far away from Disney World, and I get the "your terrible for not taking us yet," all the time!

Ok, Shana needs some assistance... Please give me an abbreviation key: DD, DH, ... How many are there? What so I be looking for in terms of age/sex/and initials? I'm a bit slow on the uptake, but once I get it -- I've got it! Sorry to drag things down... Thanks, SZ
Egg and cheese, egg and cheese, egg and cheese! LOL
Have your sunburns gotten better? I can't stand them. Hope you have some aloe to put on the burned skin. It's slimy, but it's also cool and makes it feel better.
I can't believe this is the last week of school! I am going out to lunch on Wed., but I still have to bring Mikey with me. Oh well, taking one along is better than both. ~Melissa
What I wouldn't give to see your hubby doing the "egg and cheese" dance in his skivies!!! That would be absolutely, totally hysterical I am sure!!! Funny how the kids have a certain dance for certain foods they want isn't it? I think it's a ploy just to look that darn cute, so you will make it whatever day of the week it is! And, I don't know if I would enjoy my hubby being home during the day with me either! I would have a list of "honey do's" soooooo long, he would be begging to go back to work! LOL!
Hugs and love, Lisa
I can't believe you made the "big" breakfast on a school day either. I wouldn't do it even if they danced. You are so funny! They are so lucky to have you!
"Egg and cheese! Egg and cheese!" Now do I get one? LOL! I'm sure you enjoyed those two this morning! Love, Kim
I think you are hard boiled to make your husband beg for breakfast LOL You must have a somewhat scrambled sense of humor. Just keep your sunny side up, that's the way the mornings are poached to be!! Hey, I am cracking myself up here!!! Fudgie
How wonderful and cute of a story!!! Making him do the danceand chant...how funny!!! I like your journal..I am a stay and home mom too...
