I should have taken a bottle of water with me when I was going class to class reading. I was thirsty! The kids were so cute, though. They enjoyed the stories, and lots of them were dressed as their favorite characters....although some, I suspect, were just dressed in Halloween costumes for the heck of it. I had to read for a special needs class, which was fun. The kids were so sweet....and at the end of my dramatical reading of "Marie Louise's Heyday", a little boy in the front looked up at me with huge brown eyes and said, "Can we go back to our desks now?" Out of the mouthes of babes....
I would say that 80% of the readers were in costume. There was a Sherlock Holmes, a pirate, a tooth fairy and a rennisance lady....and boy, did they have a spread for us. Coffee, juice, tea, fresh fruit, bagels, mini quiche, regualr quiche, donuts, pastries, and a huge sheetcake all decorated for the read-a-thon. I didn't have wee-one's class today, which means I will have it tomorrow. I stopped at the library on my way home and picked up some additional books, which I think the kids will enjoy. All in all it was fun.
I'm trying to think of things to say, that I didn't get to talk about this week....but I think I've covered most of it. Let's see....well, there really isn't anything that pops into my head right now. Talk about milking it to the end. I'll probably post again tonight....you know, to sqeeze out the final remaining seconds of my 15 minutes of fame. I'm sure the other journalists who were chosen this week will be much more classy about it....
Oh....I should mention that my mother has started a journal, which I am happy about. My father has PSP, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, and my mother is the sole caregiver (although I try to help her, she does 99.9% of the work). I thought if she started to journal, it would help with some of her feelings of lonliness, sadness, anger, guilt, etc. She's a wonderful woman and is hoping to find other people to talk to that might be caregivers to someone suffering from this rare, neurological disorder, or caregivers in general so they might be able to give one another support, and relief from the daily stress. If you, or someone you know fits this bill....please send them here. It would be so very nice if she had someone to talk to, other than me....I think she is getting sick of me! LOL....
Well, I am off to pick up wee-one at the bus stop....

Glad you had fun! Told you to bring water with you, BTDT.
Thanks for your mom's link. She is delightful.

Sounds like a great day at the school!
Sounds like a wonderful day for all the "readers"!! Our school doesn't have anything like this and is not exactly parent friendly. They actually want you to "let go" of your children so they can teach properly. Yeah right, like that will ever happen! NOT! It must be so wonderful to have a school that not only supports parent participation, but actually had food for you all!! So, tomorrow are you dressing up or what?!? And, I have been to your mom's journal, even put her in my journal links. I shared with her a bit about my disease, not that it is anything near what your dad is going through! Thanks for letting us know about her! :)
Hugs and love, Lisa
It is fun to read to read to kids. Another day, another chance to remember your water! LOL Have fun with them tomorrow and don't forget the funny voices. ~Melissa
Doesn't doing stuff like that make you feel so good? Little ones appreciate Mom's for simple things like coming in and reading. I will make sure I get to your mom's journal!
Well sounds like an interesting day. I like to hear people talk how sweet the kids are when they visit a school for a day, then there are people like me... tyrant, wicked, mean teachers aide. At this point in the game I hate them all. I hear 'Cheesestix, Cheesestix, Cheesestix etc... all day. Shut up you little brats I changed my name to Pepperoni. So now that I got that off my back...I'm glad you had a lovely day! And the graphic is perfect!
I love your journal! I hope they become as popular in the UK as they obviously are over there, because I find them totally addictive. I also share your love of Dr Phil (yes, they do show him in England), and doughnuts (although we spell them differently, we can even get Krispy Creme here from Harrods for about £8 a box).
Love to you and yours - Joanie http://journals.aol.co.uk/symphonyuk/JoaniesWorld/
I love reading to children! I used to review children's books when I was a writer at the newpaper. When the new Ramona Quimby book came out (Beverly Cleary), I held a look-a-like contest and kiddos sent in their photos if they thought they looked like Ramona! So much fun, I do miss that.
I'll be sure to check out your mammasita's site. Thanks for mentioning it.
Check this out, it's a brain teaser that my hubby sent me. It may take you a minute to find what's wrong with the picture. Let me know how you do...

I'm glad you enjoyed your "read-a thon"--the snacks sounded delicious! I hope you had fun as Editor's #1 pick. Love, Kim
Hi! my name is Angie, I just began the journey of blogging. I wanted to wait until you came out of the spotlight before I introduced myself, as I am sure you've been busy in meeting new people. I've been a member on AOL for about six years now, and for some reason I have a difficult time finding pals on the internet. I love the idea of Journals, because over time and for the most part you can see who people truly are. The only downside of journals is trying to sift through to find people with your same interests. I too am a stay at home mom, except I also go to college full time. I'm out this summer, and I'd love to be able to communicate with people who can identify. If you have time, or are interested, let me know.
A friendly bit of advice from another blogster was to be sure to post my link. So, I'm back and here it is. http://journals.aol.com/asckb/blog
Busy today huh? LOL I read this entry late last night but I was in the other name so I couldn't comment. I give you a lot of credit for doing that reading thing two days in a row. Not only that....you read to more then one class more then one story. You are a maniac! I could never ever and I wouldn't ever ever. That's just the difference between me and you. I am selfish!
Did the kids hold you hostage or something?!? Where the heck is Sherry?!?! One day without you and I miss you already!!!! I bet they tied you to a chair because you are such a good reader, they never wanted you to leave! I am sure once the laundry gets backed up or the dishes, your hubby will come and find you! Hee-hee!
Hugs and love, Lisa
