You have never seen a happier woman than when I walked into my quiet house this morning....it's been a loooong weekend! After being stuck in an emergency room with my husband for 8 hours, I was ready for some "me" time! LOL.
First things first....Betsy is doing fine....just a bit of residual back pain. She did pass the stone, however her kidney is still swollen. We need to make an appointment with the urologist, but, of course, with our insurance I have to take her to our primary physician first for the referral. Now, it's not like I'm asking for a referral to a urologist for the heck of it....why do I have to drag her to the doctor? What are they going to do? NOTHING. Well, they will take my money first. So, I have to take her out of school AGAIN for that appointment, and then try to get her into the new doctor, which I'm sure I'll have to take her out of school for that appointment as well. Our day at the hospital started with, "Hello, can I help you?"
"We have an 8:00 appointment."
"You aren't on our books, you'll have to make an appointment."
(Me getting mad), "We HAVE an appointment, it was made yesterday when we were in the ER."
(dirty look) "Oh."
Apparently they didn't have her on the books, and luckily I had brought my paper with proof that we had been to the ER. They squeezed her in, but she couldn't have the test because she still had contrast in her system from the first test. Well then WHY were we told to make the appointment so soon? They substituted a sonogram for the CT, as well as an x-ray. All this took only 8 hours....but it's done and she is doing good! I'm so relieved. She was in such pain....it made me feel so helpless to see her lying there, knowing I couldn't help her.
I just picked her up from school and she is telling me all about her day. Apparently the grape vine is in full swing, and everyone knew she was sick. Her teachers were sympathetic, and she got to listen to her cd player in class. Awwww. New guy (senior!) was worried about her too....I baked oatmeal chocolate chip rasin cookies for her as well, and she is stuffing her face as we speak. I still like to take care of my "little" (I can pretend, can't I?) girl.
Well, it's time to pick up my other child at the bus stop. A mother's work is never done!

Poor Betsy!! And, poor mom! We feel their pain as if it's our own don't we? I am happy that she is doing better though AND you even baked her cookies.! What more could you ask for as a child? She will forever be your "little girl" no matter if she is bigger than you or not. ;)
Hugs and love, Lisa
Lisa is right, they are our little girls no matter what. You are a great mom. I feel for you with the doctors for no reason crap just for the referal. Who's this concerned 12th grader. LOL Very nice. Tell her to MILK it! LOL
oh insurance is absolutly frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But Im glad your life is settieling down. Glad you had some peace. I know the feeling. But yeah they waste alot of money by saying go to the dr first . I mean for goodness sakes she has akidney stone. That needs a urologist. !!!!!!! Lori
Mom your so great. I appreciate all you did for me and although you couldn't take the pain away physically you did mentally. I'm glad you stayed by my side and talked with me to take it off my mind and made me laugh. I will always be your little girl and I like to be thought of as that, I want to know I can always have my mommy when things don't quite go the way they should. I love you Mom.
*Betsy* ^_^

Glad to hear DD is doing better. I hope she is back to 100% in no time! I think it is a law that no ER visit can be shorter than 8 hours, ha ha! Enjoy your quiet time as you know it never seems to last long! Hugs, Kim
Okay I think I will just start to cry right now over Betsy's comment. You have done a great job with your kids! I ma so glad that she is feeling better also. What a hard thing to have to go through not being able to make the pain go away. GREAT JOB.
I hope you have a great week and no more out of the ordinary things happen. Wouldn't you like just to go back to being dull?
Hurricanes, hospitals and such. Have a good week!

So glad to hear Betsy is doing better..how scary!! And a good reminder to drink more water..lol..
I am so happy to hear Betsy is doing so much better!! It so hard watching your children in pain...and you would do anything to make it all go away. You are a great mom for taking such good care of her...she is very lucky!!
Hugs, Julie
I am so relieved Betsy is on the mend. Kidney stones are so painful for an adult to cope with, never mind a kid. Give her our love and say we hope she feels a lot better soon. Pity about the Drs and the snotty receptionist. I think they have to have qualifications in being awkward and snotty, well they do here!! I love getting one over them and proving them wrong though, like you did ;).......Jules xxx

I'm glad that Betsy is feeling better! Ugh about doctors and hospitals!
I hate that helpless feeling when your child is sick or hurt and there is nothing you can do.
