No, I did not have a run in with a racoon, and there is no corresponding story to go with the graphic....I just thought it was funny.
It's 1:06 pm on Saturday, September 18, 2004. My oldest daughter is at a friends house, my youngest just went to swim at her friend's house, my husband is just finishing washing the truck, and I am sitting here, doing diddley squat. I made an egg and sausage breakfast, tidied up the house, vacuumed, mopped, did dishes and got dressed. Now, I'm sitting here. It's not too bad outside. It was 79 this morning with less humidity than there has been since May, and a bit of a breeze. I should go outside and enjoy it. But, I probably won't. I only put on lipstick today, and ran a comb through my hair. My desk is knee deep in envelopes and I'm so mad at myself for being a day late on the house payment. I am NEVER late on a bill. I just forgot because of the concert. Dang it. Oh well. Once in 17 years isn't too bad I suppose.
I went to the room mother's meeting on Friday. They sure didn't go to the lengths they did last year. A basket of muffins, a basket of danish, a plate of cookies and juice. Usually there is hot stuff, cold stuff, mixed fruit, coffee, tea, etc. Of course that's not why I go, I just thought it was interesting. A new team of PTA gals are heading things up this year. They did a good job with the meeting though. They work really hard. I was annoyed with the fact that we "absolutely can not have a party with any mention of "Halloween" or "Christmas"" It must be called a "harvest festival" or "holiday party". They even consider Santa to be off limits. To this I say WTF???? You can't even celebrate Santa any more? Becuase some people don't believe in it? COME ON. That is absolutely ridiculous. I understand that we can't do anything about baby Jesus....heck they even warned us not to do anything with trees that are adorned with angels....and you probably shouldn't even do trees. Again, I say WTF???? I think we are going waaaayyyyy over the edge with this politically correct crap. So, I guess I'll have to figure out a way to celebrate the holidays without actually mentioning them. *End rant.
I should be doing something. I have two tubs of pictures I need to go through. I have piles of recipes waiting to go into books. I could start another batch of sewing, and I need to fold some clothes. Why do the weekends seem to last so long? I don't know. I feel lazy. And my head hurts. My virus is going away though, and Betsy feels better too. Wee one is on the mend as well. Did I mention she has a bladder infection? I'm too lazy to look back and see if I wrote that. I'm worried about my short term memory. I seem to forget everything. I have spent two days trying to remember what you call that red, flappy thing that hangs down from a turkey's neck. It's a WATTLE. I remember this morning while laying in bed. I am one of those people who know really odd things....but I couldn't remember that. It made me worried. Oh well. See Kara, you aren't the only one suffering from CRS.
My alerts seem to be working now. I'm glad. I hate when it does that! Obviously this entry was just a train-of-thought entry. Sometimes it's nice not to really think, but just write.
Okay, I am going to go do something. What? I don't know. But something. Have a good one....

Glad you are starting to feel better. Seems like viruses go around this time of year with back to school and all. Poor Betsy, UTI's are the worst. Maybe concentrate on snowmen or something for the "winter celebration". Hope you have a good weekend.
That is a cute graphic. You are so lucky to be in a quiet clean house. I did the kitchen today spotless and took a pic. Then I took a pic of what ronnie was doing. He was supposed to be doing the living room. He wrecks more when he cleans. I sorta took a pic of that too. Maybe I will show you later on. I don't know what to do with myself anymore either. I would take a bath or something but hub put the house plants in the freaking tub and there is now dirt all over the tub and you walk in the bathroom and look right at the tub and its a jungle. Okay I know this is your journal and not mine. I'll shut the hell up now. I'm late on about 15 bills right now myself. I'm always late. Don't feel bad.
The graphic is too cute and yes, funny. :-) It reminded me of something my son told me about a flying racoon. BUT, I won't share that here because I wanted to share that in my journal.
Now I know why no one has been visiting me, waaaaaaaaaaa, the alerts are down. I was feeling neglected ... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. OK, enough of the self pity party ~ it sucks.
Thought train ... I liked it all. Hope your daughter feels better soon as UTI's are no fun.

From what I understood at Josh's new school, there may be no "holiday" parties!! Now I think that's sad! No one has said a word about halloween yet, but I am stull hoping. It's a shame about all this politically correct stuff now a days!
I think you should just have a lazy weekend...but looking around my house and all the stuff that needs to be done...I will be slaving away! :::sigh:::
Have a good one!!
Hugs, Julie
I love the raccoon :)
Sorry to hear about wee ones bladder infection, poor little thing, hope she gets better soon.
I hate all this politically correct stuff as well and refuse to comply with my cub scouts, it does my head in!!
For another bit of useless info, did you know the dangley bit at the back of your throat is your 'uvula' ;).......Jules xxx

It sounds like our day is going about the same... can't decide what to do with my self either now that the weekend is FINALLY here! I still sort of feel dazed, sore and tired. I'm starting to get a 2nd wind. And yep, that ticks me off too about the way schools have taken God and Santa and all that out of our holidays. I think that's why we send our kids to school and now we worry about guns being there instead of prayer. It's very unsettling. They had See You at the Pole day for prayer this week but my kids are so little they didn't go yet. I hope they do someday. Well take care and hope you have a fun day after we get tired of feeling like blobs with nothing to do...
Seems like you are very busy with life chores I know how you feel hang in there
Your raccoon graphic is too funny. Where do you hunt up such wonderful animated ones? Don't worry about missing the house payment. We all slip up once in awhile. I hope your bank is forgiving. Funny thing about weekends, for some they ZOOM! by and for others they drag. For me they arrive like reluctant slugs and abandon me in midproject... leaving me to ponder, WTF, where DID the weekend go? Hope the family is up to speed soon. Prayer may be banned from classroom but not on the net. Prayers and good vibes to you and yours.
Please feel welcome to stop on by sometime and visit my journal. Till next time.

where do u find all the cute little moving pitchers and how do u put them in your journal? please help me , i want to be able to do that.
thank u. shay.
Umm,Yeah, you were all over the place here. It's funny though.I feel the same way about the holiday parties. It's gotten ridiculous.Have a good day.KIM
It makes me cross when political correctness goes mad. I totally believe in being sensitive to other cultures. I think it's terrible in France where they are banning all religious symbolism in clothing & Muslim girls have been banned from wearing their Shalwar Kameeze & head coverings.
I love variety. I think being different promotes understanding & tolerance not being forced to be all the same & bland. America is a predominantly Christian country just like Britain. Christian festivals & traditions should be celebrated. No-one of a different faith should be forced to join in if they don't want to & they should be allowed to celebrate their own festivals either in school or by taking holiday if necessary. There are about 10% Muslim children in the Primary school where my kids went. The school celebrated the major Muslim festivals as well. I like it...their food was better!
BTW...as a Brit, I've no idea what Room Mothers are????
dont stress, try to go along with the flow, it might be tough, hope wee one is ok, hang in there, glad to hear your feeling better, ok well im going to go outside its absolutely gorgeous!- Meg =)<3
