Guilty pleasures....

I know that I'm 35, and a mom, and not supposed to be cool....but sometimes I just don't feel that way. I enjoy things that I know I'm not "supposed" to....but I can't help it. I know, I know....age is only a number, you are only as old as you feel...still, I do get curious glances when my mini-van is reverberating with the sounds of Usher and his oh-so-hot song "Yeah". I was watching Saturday night live the other night, and I saw him perform this song. Now, I'm not into hip-hop, BUT, I was mesmerised by his moves and the hypnotic beat of the song. I am fully aware that I should be happily listening to my 80's station, or humming along with Fleetwood Mac....but sometimes I feel the need to break out of my sahm mode and, well, get jiggy with it....

So, I ask you, what are some of your guilty pleasures that you know you are supposed to be "too old" to enjoy, but do anyway? In the privacy of your home, or out in public....stereotypes be damned!

A few of mine....

Music: I am not into Korn or any of the screaming stuff, but I have to say I'm a fan of Simple Plan, Outkast, and Nickleback (something about that lead singer makes me, dare I say it, tingle! ::giggle:). And although Betsy rolls her eyes 95% of the time, that remaining 5% spent rocking out with my teenage daughter is well worth the embarassment....(that is, until I replace the correct lyrics from Fountains of Wayne and sing at the top of my lungs "Betsy's Mom Has Got It Going On!" LMAO)

TV: I LOVE "Degrassi: The New Generation" on "the N". I watched the original series "Degrassi Jr. High" and "Degrassi High" when I was younger, and a few of the cast members from back in the day are on it now. I suppose it brings back memories....

Driving: Okay, now this is a true confession that I am so embarassed to share....but it's bound to make someone laugh (or gag, I'm not sure!) If I'm driving along and there's a cute guy next to me at a light, I might decide to touch up the lipstick, slowly, and well, you know, wet the lips, etc. Then you give the sly little smile.... Oh man, is that pathetic or what? But hey, you only live once and you might as well make it fun, right?! Right? Come on....someone agree with me!!!!Lipstick

Okay, those are just a few of my true confessions....let's hear some of yours!

I am into "young music" too. I love Eminem. There, I said it. LOL.

Just the other day in class, I made the comment that I took the ACT test 15 years ago, almost everyone in the class wanted to know how old I was. I told them I am 31 and they couldn't believe it. They thought I was 22 or 23  .* No, they weren't drunk or anything*  I used to go buy lotto tickets and I had to show ID, and it made me mad to get "carded". Now I look back on it, and I just don't know what I was thinking!!!

My son thinks I am cool, he is 10 so I don't know how long that will last. But it is a good feeling for now.

I thought about having sex with Usher just today. In the video for the song about cheating on his girl when he's very sexily banging his fists on the wall. I had very very very dangerous thoughts.

Nothing wrong with any of it!  I, too, do the lipstick, wetting lips thing...Or if I have a sucker in my mouth, watch out! LOL!  It's good to know that you're on the up and up:)  Though, we'd still love ya even if you did blast Fleetwood Mac and 80s music (NOTHING wrong with EITHER of those categories, either!)
Hugs!

I am 40 (OMG) but still feel the same inside as when I was 18. I had my belly button pierced for my 39th birthday, pity the belly is too flabby to show it off.
I love the pic and mix sweets in woolworths and go for all my childhood favourites. I buy the beano comic every now and then to read, cos I love  Dennis the Menace. I sing all the time, even though I am tone deaf, so Natalie won't ever go ino a shop that is playing music if I am with her, shes says I embarrass her. It started raining one day and I stood there and sang at the top of my voice 'its raining men', Natalie and her friend ran and hid and I had peaceful shopping. I like the darkness, 50 cent and the black eyed peas :).............Jules xxx

I also love that "Yeah" song by Usher and will crank it up in my mini-van.  That song and "Naughty Girl" by Beyonce make me do my sitting down dance as I am driving along!  My kids practically crawl under the seats!  :)  As far as applying lipstick when there is a man next to me at a light, ummmm, nope don't do that, mainly because I don't wear lipstick.  Actually I don't even notice people when I am at the lights because I am too busy staring at the red light and wishing it will turn green NOW so I can go!  I am a bit impatient can you tell?!  I also love some of the "new" bands out there now, such as Nickleback and Fuel (both have very yummy lead singers, which seem to be lacking lately).  You have to have some eye candy I always say!!
Hugs and love, Lisa

LOL  I was fine with everything until you got to the lipstick.  That is hilarious!  I used to watch Degrassi Junior High when I was younger too!  I haven't watched the new one, but I see it on all the time.  This was a fun entry. ~Melissa

Ahah, thats great, about Betsys Mom has got it going on! haha, lmao, and about the lipstick thing, thats really funny. My mom is 50, ( i shouldnt be saying this lol oh, well no one will know ;-) ) and she always does things that are youthful, she talks back to her mother still whos my grandma, and she likes the music i listen to also! Its really funny, she especially gets into the teenage clothes, even though she cant fi tinto them, she loves them, so when we go shopping, were always picking stuff out! ;-) Age is just a number. Im 15, but i sometimes act like im 12 when it comes to things, like having a good time! Have fun, enjoy the day away..Meg from Friendship, Loyalty and Love, checkit out girls

Well, I according to my children my quilty pleasure is s-e-x! According to them, once you reach 35 it's a sin to carry on!  Hmpf, WHATEVER!

Otherwise, it's music.  I love rocking along with my daughter and my sons.  Anything except rap. Hey, I'm going to Maroon 5!  Is a 40 something supposed to do that?!?! ;-P

Ok, my mum is going to be 50 next year and from the way she looks and acts you'd never believe she has five children one of which is gonna turn thirty in a few years. She knows more of the lyrics to Usher than I do. If she likes a song, she'll sing dance and to be honest I love her for it. As for the lipstick thing, she feels naked without the stuff. Her mantra, "you're as young as you feel"
