How's that for a teaser title? This morning I decided to go to the grocery store before starting my cleaning. I sometimes do that because by the time I'm done doing everything here, I have no time left for errands before the kids get home, especially on Wednesday's when I watch the little girl down the street. Anyway....it was a few minutes past 8:00 and the store was a virtual wasteland....I'm pretty sure I saw a tumbleweed blowing across the produce section. Apparently people around here are not early risers. However, what shoppers were there, were women like myself, getting a jump on the day....and not wearing makeup.
I have noticed that the basic rule is this....if you shop with a naked face, you wear an outfit that is on the "dressier" side, (as opposed to running out in your torn shorts and t-shirt), and your hair is done. Conversley, if you have your makeup done, you can either 1. have a messy do i.e. quick pony tail, hand combed hair OR 2. the afore mentioned torn shorts and t. Don't ask me why this is....I think it has something to do with the delicate balance of fashion and comfort. "Would you look at that hairdo? But my, what lovely capri's!" See what I mean?
You can also tell someone is shopping sans-Covergirl by the way they are continuously looking down at their list, intently studying lables, and, of course, pushing the basket at mach 5, so all you see is a blur as they woosh past. Of course, when two of us naked-shoppers make eye contact, we give the "nod"....this is the secret signal between busy moms that means, "Neither rain, nor snow, nor lack of cosmetics shall stay us from our appointed round....steak."
Anyhoo....the shopping went well. I got everything I needed all while refraining from the dreaded "impulse buy". I got the stuff home in record time, and was in the house before 9:00. Not bad....now that Ivan is so far off, no one around here is scrambling for the last can of "hoppin john".
I'm just looking around here and thinking about how much I need to get done. I could be done with everything in roughly 2 hours, however realistically....it's going to take longer. I always get sidetracked somehow. You know, it's the usual gee, that picture looks crooked, oh boy, this frame needs dusting, well, might as well take all this off the wall and clean it, hmmmm, maybe I should move this here, and that there....but I think today I'll stay on track, as I have to pick Betsy up at school today. She went early for the "Meet you at the pole", where they go and pray for their school, and schools across the country, and also for those in need. She was excited about it and was telling us about it at dinner last night. After listening for a while, wee one piped up and said, "Oh really nice Betsy. What do you do say OH GREAT POLE, BE WITH US TODAY?" I almost spit my tea out laughing. I said, "Honey, they are praying AROUND the pole, not TO the pole!" You just gotta love kids....
Have a good one!

Mmmm, maybe I'm getting old! Usually I won't leave the house without face cream and a little blush for color. Usually if I have no make my hair is in a ponytail! I think I keep it too simple lately, sigh.

OK, your title got my attention but you knew it would hahaha I was almost ready to throw on some clothes and hit the safeway to checkout the naked women. Heck with the make-up, lets get back to the torn shorts and t shirts LOL Hugs Lanny
Ok,I am about to die laughing about wee-one.Too funny.I think that's great that Betsy does this.By the title,I though you were gonna say you were shopping online naked.I couldn't beleive you were gonna tell us that.hehehehe KIM
lol love this entry.
lol wee one is too funny!
we did that at our school in TX, great thing to do :)
ugh my alerts aren't working :(
My alerts aren't working. I'm so glad I stopped by. This was very cute! When I go anywhere Sherry, Ialways look like crap I never have make up on while out. My hair is a mess whether up or down. I dress like a slob. And I try not to notice other women. I'm mostly keeping my eye out on the male shoppers. If they notice me looking all shitty it makes me feel good knowing that I could look 100 times better then they think I could. When I got shopping at 8am....It's usually me and three ninety year olds working the store. LOL It is the best time to shop. Too bad Im dead most mornings. Wee One has a great sense of humor. And Betsy is a good girl! They get it from you!
and I thought you were gonna say you had a dream you were shopping in your birthday suit
I'm still trying to figure out what a "hoppin john" is.
I have just started wearing make-up again. I seem to go in spurts, I scared myself the other day though, so thought it was time again. When I dropped my son off at school this morning I saw a bunch of kids around the pole, they must have been doing the same thing. Good for Betsy!
The pray around the pole happened at my school too, I think thats nice that they have it, and we prayed for a good year and that Jesus will give us wisdom and knowledge and we prayed for our country and thanked jesus for out day. Anyway, your entry is HILARIOUS!! I love it , even though i never go to the food store without my mom since im only 15! haha, but thats aroit about what you said with the no make up thing. Your too funny. HAve a good day, hope you got your house chores done. Wee One is too funny, your all funny. lol. Take care! love, Meg(friendship loyalty and love)=)
Wee-one sounds like she has quite a sense of humor. LOL I think that's great Betsy is doing that. I remember that happening at my school a couple of times.
I'm one of the wooshers in the grocery store. I have my list and I always buy the same things (pretty much), so I just grab as I'm walking by. LOL No need to stop and look. ~Melissa
Oh your little one is so cute!
Cute entry! I'm a natural beauty so whether I wear make-up or not, dress up or down, I'm always a knock out around town! ;) J/K! No fudge today, bummer huh? That's nice they have prayer around the pole. Our kids old school used to do that.
I was a participant at the first ever See You At the Pole when I was a senior in high school! I even have pictures of us all standing around the pole, hand in hand, praying! I love that tradition, and tell Betsy I'm proud she is carrying it on! What a blessing our youth are!

I know I always try to hit the supermarket early & I look a wreck & just hope I don't meet anyone I know...but guess what the worse I look, the more people I meet. It's like some law of nature!
our supermarkets open 24/7 so sometimes I go at silly hours in the morning, like 5am!........Jules xxxxxxx

Oh I am so proud of your daughter for going to See Ya at the Pole day! And I love how you have analyzed the way we moms shop. GOSH I hate getting stuck shopping without make up. It comes between me and having my round steak... maybe that's why we run out of stuff around here quite regularly. Ugh... though at times I practice going somewhere without make up... I never have a good day when I do that though. It must affect me terribly.
