When I stepped off the plane yesterday, four words came out of my mouth that I never thought I'd say, living here in Florida....thank God I'm home!
Wow, what a week. It all went beautifully, and we couldn't have been treated any better by family and friends. We visited a bit with people we hadn't seen in a long while, and exchanged stories about dad. It was good to see my sisters as well.
I was a bit worried about my mom last night, since it was the first night she would come to her home alone, but she said it was something she had to do and that no one else could do it for her. So, I watched her go....and checked up on her soon after. I also called right before bed and reminded her that if she needed to come over, she could. Mom did so well during the past week....so did the girls. I'm proud of them all!
Wee one ended up going to our old neighbors house and playing for an afternoon. They had a ball together. I visited with his mom and we talked about the neighborhood gossip....Betsy went to a play at the highschool, and also out to dinner with her best friend. John and I basically hung around the house....as we stayed with his mom. She is quite the hostess....cooking homemade pork chops for John, chicken and dumplings and ribs....all with the appropriate fixins! She is such a sweetie, and I felt bad leaving her....crying a little at ther front door as we drove away....sigh.
Percy however....well, he seems like a puppy again! He was thrilled to see us and practically ran to the car. He's been going 100 miles an hour since. I think I may have to check into that place and take him on a regular basis so he can run and swim with his doggy buddies. When we got there and were waiting to pick him up, we went out by the dog pool. There were four dogs swimming and playing....I didn't realize but the pool is shaped like a dog bone! Too cute.
We decided to have a Florida dinner last night....we cooked on the grill. It was so strange going from the mid 40's to 84 in a matter of hours. When I got in I threw off my shoes and socks and headed toward my new sparkly flip flops I had bought before we left.
Dare I say it....I'm beginning to like Florida????

Welcome home. We've had a week of similar experiences here and I know what you mean about leaving your mom -- it's so hard for her but there's nothing to do but do it.

I am glad you are all home safe and sound. Sounds like Percy missed you all so much!!! Take care of yourself. Hugs, lisa
OH sounds like you did have agreat time. Too bad we cant do things like this with out a death. I tell you I remember we use to have family get togethers when I was little. Now its like something no one had time for. I am glad Percy had a good time. Maybe he needs a pet pal at home. PERCY NEEDS A PUPPY> {Todd will warn you about this statement as we now have four dogs and when does it end} LOL I used this one on him one too many times. LOL PEPPER NEEDS A PUPPY LOL OH well I digress. Now you see what I mean about wanting to move to florida See you had a week in March of this nasty cold. I tell you I more and more want to move south. Not too far past the northern florida border though. I might even like southers ga or one of those states but not too far to the south to get hurricanes bad. LOL SEE I want paradise LOL HAPPYHOME COMING and glad your home. I KNOW you felt like falling on the ground like that girl in the pacifier and saying land!!!!!!!!! LOL Lori
I'm glad you're home and that everything went well while you were away. As for your Mom, her grieving really hasn't started yet. Now that the funeral is over and she's not caught up in being so busy, she will start her grieving. I will continue with my prayers :)
That doggie place sounds sooo neat!!
Luv~Heather

Sounds like Percy (god, I LOVE that name!) went to a resort instead of a kennel! Wow!!! A dog shaped swimming pool! I'm glad he had such a good time. Sounds like it really revitalized him. ((((hugs)))) love, anna
Welcome back! Glad you arrived home safely.
Hmmm? Warm weather and flip flops year round? I could call Florida home.
Glad your trip went well. Continued prayers lifted up to you and yours, especially for your mom!

I'm very happy your trip is over and that is was a success even though very sad times. Your mother hasn't felt the worst of things yet. when all is over and everyone is gone it takes weeks and even months before she will realize the full force of her loss. Keep in touch as much as possible encourage her to reinvest her time into another way of life but be very understanding until she can figure out what that might be. Even today I'm sad over my husband and it's been almost 6 yrs. I just woke up and dreamed he was alive so it just goes to show you it's a moment to moment thing the rest of your life. you really become one when you marry and when one dies part of your body dies so the pain is always somewhere inside waiting to be felt time and time again. Take care of yourself and relive all your memories as they come. Your graphics are so cute. God Bless You

Yeaaaaah, you're home!!!! I have missed you. I kept checking your journal to see if I'd see an update. I was so happy to see that you left me a comment, that after I read it I flew over to your journal to see how everything went. I am glad things went well. I too love living in FL. Yesterday we went to the mall bathing suit shopping and today my Katie is at the Beach. It is now pouring rain, so I'm sure she's not happy, but hey, let's face it. . .she went to the BEACH! Glad to have you back girl. .:Barbara:.
So glad you are back. I was beginning to have withdrawal from your journal... LOL

Welcome back Sherry. I missed your writing. Glad things went well and you are able to talk about the good times with your Dad. Your Mom is a smart lady, realizing she has to face the empty house sometime.
Oh, I'm so envious of you with that nice warm weather and you can wear flip flops! I'm so sick of winter I can't wait to get back into my summer clothes and shoes. I feel like it's been cold here forever.
Susan
I am feeling your heat lol over here I wish I lovethe prefect weather thing
Oh, I can't wait to wear flip flops again!!! I hate putting on shoes once it gets cold and I usually wait until October to finally do so! Glad you are all home safe and sound. It's great to come home to your home no matter where it might be. :)
Hugs and love, Lisa
Me TOO! I think I really like it here other than the allergies and being tired and not having a routine yet like I had in Ohio. I miss my workout.
