It's actually breezy!!!!

I just stepped outside to windex the sliding door and you know what? It's actually breezy! If I stand inside with the air turned up and look at the wind blowing, I can almost believe it's a crisp fall day outside. However, the thermometer is right at eye level when I look out on the porch, and that 80 degree reading is mocking me. We have leaves falling all over the place, but they are just an ugly mud-brown. However, I shouldn't complain because at least it's something. I have to say that this is the first year since we have been here that I have felt the fall spirit. Sometimes I even get that little twinge of "halloween happiness" when I see a decoration. I haven't felt that in a while. Oh, and I've been wearing my traditional "fall perfume" which is Heaven Scent. I only wear it from the end of September to Thanksgiving. Never before or after. I don't know why, but I associate the smell with fall. I can take a whiff of that and be transported back to when I was a kid, carving pumpkins on the garage floor with my dad and sisters. Or, taking my kids to their annual fun fair at the elementary school back home in Indiana. It's funny how certain scents can bring back such sharp memories.

For years I searched for a perfume that my mother wore when I was 5, and probably before. I can't remember where I finally found it, actually, I think my mom did. Anyway, I keep it on my dresser and every once in a while open it up and take a sniff. It brings back memories of our first childhood home, and my mom dressed for church. I can remember hugging her, or sitting near her and breathing in that scent....it's like a hug in a bottle. She eventually moved on to Aviance, which I always loved. I have a tiny bottle of that as well, that I won on ebay. Mmmmm, I just love that one. The other scent that I remember is Emeraude. I guess those were the "big three" perfumes in the 70's. It's funny, but I rarely wear perfume, even though I love it. I can't seem to find a scent that I truly love.

As a kid/teen/ and even now I like the Coty Wild Musk and Loves Baby Soft. I let wee one try the Loves and she is hooked. There was another one too....Jungle Gardenia I think. Those scents will take me right back to the 80's. And it's not just perfume, but lip gloss. Anyone remember the Baskin Robbins roll on lip gloss? My favorite was a huge pink bubblegum bonnie bell lip gloss. Wee one has one of those, and it reminds me of 6th grade. I'd love to know if anyone remembers any of those scents, or what your favorites were. I really need to find one now. I thought I liked Clinique's "Happy", but it's a little strong.

Anyhoo, Betsy has a poetry club coffee house today, so I'll be picking her up later this evening. I took something out to make for dinner, but ordering pizza is looking more and more tempting. I just don't feel like cooking tonight. I did end up making spaghetti last night, and even I will admit, the meatballs I made were divine. I ate one of them, without sauce. Betsy didn't eat, so John and wee one had the pot to themselves! I had plenty for his lunch today, so he was a happy boy.

I'm done with my cleaning, so now I'm going to attack the pile of things that have accumulated on my desk. That shouldn't take too long....I hope. Have a good one!

My mother used to wear White Shoulders and I used to love that scent. It's hard to find now but it still is a good transporter to my past. Hugs Lanny

Perfumes are lovely things for memories, thank you for getting me thinking again. I have sat here for a few mins now reminiscing. I used to love a perfume called Charlie and my first boyffriend bought me a huge bottle. One day when he was visiting me, he left his coat on the floor and my cat peed on it. My mum sprayed his coat with Charlie perfume to try to cover the smell. The poor lad had to go home on the bus smelling like cat pee and Charlie perfume. Need less to say, this perfume always reminds me of cat pee now...........Jules xx
ps I like floral pefumes like anais anais and I love Opium perfume as well

MMMM...I love perfume, but hardly ever come across one I like on me. When I was a teen I used to have one that all my friends had. I'm sure it was called Eau Jeune & came in a green bottle. It was lemony but musky & I loved it. At the moment I'm into Miracle! Not sure if you have the same "smellies" over the pond. My dad used to wear Old Spice aftershave which is vile! But I think Chanel No5 smells a bit like it...yuk.

I think it's cute that you have seasonal perfumes. I would have never thought of that. I remember last spring when we were all still freezing around the country and you were making us jealous with your weather..and now you are sick of it. LOL My Desk is messy too. I think you inspired me to clean it up some.

I LOVE perfumes and I HATE perfumes! I used to tease my mom and say it was ALL her fault because she worked at a perfume counter when she was pregnant with me.  Anyway, as a teen I also loved Coty wild musk and the Loves baby soft.  My daughter wore those too when she was  younger.  I also have a bottle of my mom's perfume here, I never wear it, I just open it and take a whiff.  Brings her a little closer to me in my times of need.

I remember heaven scent...now I feel like picking up a bottle! Do you know I do the same thing as you, I have a bottle of the perfume my mother wears Raffinee and I do not wear it, but every once in awhile I smell it and I think of mom...I wonder if others do that too? My favorite perfume is Elizabeth Taylors White Diamonds and Clinique's Aromatics....those are the 2 I wear...my daughters love the Victoria Secrets collection of body sprays...like love spell and passionate kisses...stuff like that...they smell really good, but kind of like teenager kinds of smells so I stay away from those sprays, but they smell great on my girls...

As far as fall, it's a big 79 here! And a nice breeze too...in fact so breezy it blew one of our chairs into the hot tub before, we had to go fish it out...we do not have any leaves falling at all, and none are brown, they are still green as ever...oh well, I do have my cute fall decoration on my door I can go look at!

my fav is wind song, I don't know why.  I never wear perfume anymore, I guess because my aunt gets sick when she smells any, and I tend to see her alot.  I just got in the habit of not putting any on.  I  have a gala next week where I might where some, I just don't have windsong, need hubby to pick me up some.
I love your graphics.

Oh, your entry brought tears to my eyes... my Nan ONLY wore Emaraude, and I keep her personal bottle in my bathroom.  I'm afraid to spray for I don't want it ever to run out.  Sometimes, though, I do squirt just a tad out onto my decorative towels, so I can smell her again... just like when I was a little girl.

I will send you some fall pictures from my back yard later today!  Hope they help!

I used to like the Love's Lemon Scented perfume - not sure what is was called.  Also the rain scented one.  Unfortunately I can't wear perfume now because it gives me a migraine.  I got Clinique Happy in a "free w/purchase" deal and tried it and ended up with a headache.  Oh well.

I remember Loves, Heaven Scent and Jungle Gardenia!! How about Avons Sweet Honesty!! I have to be careful because strong perfumes give me migraines now. I love JLO's Glow it is a nice clean soft fragrance:) ~Kim

Was the baby soft the stuff with the pink domed cap?  I had something with a cap like that, but I can't for the life of me remember the name.  I did have a baskin robbins lip gloss. LOL
I FINALLY found "my" scent and they discontinued it!  So I had to switch.  Now it's Victoria's Secret Angels Heavenly.  It has a soft smell, at least to me it is. ~Melissa

I remember some of the scents, especially "Emeraude".  I used to wear that and I wore Jovan Musk when I was in high school I believe.  But, now I only wear "Rapture" by Victoria's Secret all year around.  Never heard of changing perfume for different times of the year though!  You are a trip!  I don't even think my mom had a "scent" that was her own, but my grandma did.  It was called "peppermint and something else" because whenever she would take me somewhere she would let me go into her purse and it always smelled like "peppermint and something else".  Hee-hee!
Hugs and love, Lisa
P.S.:  I used Bonne Bell Strawberry Roll on lip gloss!  I LOVED it and went through it like crazy!!

I remember the big lip gloss (bubble gum), I miss them!!  Now I wear bath and body works, you may light the autumn body spray.  I remember Electric youth perfume, poision, malibu musk, eternity, beautiful, and although I NEVER liked it or used it "charlie".  I remember my grandmothers perfume that reminds  me of church too.  Do you remember those jordache pocket books that had the long string strap and they were vinyl, round, and came in various colors??  This just came to mind I wish I could find one!!  Great entry, Heather~  hra73

Hi!  I stopped by your journal after reading Lanny's entry about a personal ad in your comment section.  Anyway, sure glad I came by here.  I remember Heaven Scent.  I used to wear it all the time.  Such a clean, fresh smell.  I used to have seasonal scents, too.  For me, Tabu was a fall scent, Ambush only at Christmas time.  I don't remember what I wore for summer.  I have two favorite scents now.  Chanel #5 (but who can afford that???) and Tova, which is only available on QVC.  When I wear Tova, people really do come up to me and say I smell delicious, and what IS that I'm wearing?  Thank you for this very nice entry and for reminding me of all those nice perfumes from my past.
Susan
