I don't remember if I mentioned it before, but I have a new product line I will be sewing for the medical company I work for. They had an employee working on it part time at the plant, but with increases in the orders, they needed help and so they asked me to do it. I have to sew these straps for pediatric vests that go with the halo's. They are much less involved than the covers I usually sew, so I was pleasantly surprised, thinking I could get these done in a snap. When I talked to the "boss" he said, just go ahead and do as many as you can, and send them in as soon as you have a batch. I asked, what kind of orders are we looking at. He laughed as he told me, "Oh, you know, a thousand or so." I'm like, "No, really...." and he's like, "No, REALLY." Omg....so last night dh gets home from school, the kids are in bed, and we sit on the couch to watch Family Guy together. He leans in close and romantically whispers in my ear, "Oh, by the way, they took "D" off the straps, you are doing them all." WHAT?! Apparently they needed her in the shop full time with all the extra orders. Great. Good thing I moved the sewing table in front of the window, because that's as close to the outside as I'm gonna be for the next few months....
Today is grocery shopping day. I love "gsd". Especailly when I have a brand spankin new store to shop at. What is nice about this one, is that it's kind of out of the way. They are building all around it, but the houses aren't ready yet so there is never anyone in the store. I like it that way. Nice and quiet....almost zen like. I need to make a list and decide which store to go to first. I want to cook some different things for dinner. I'm getting sick of my usual dinners. Something tasty and delicious....not that my usual dinners are anything but....
Last night wee one forgot to bring home her social studies book, in which she was supposed to read AND answer questions. She was quite upset, so I had her call a friend and write down the questions so that we could look them up online. Well, the chapter is about the Spanish in Florida, so what she presented mewith after talking to her friend, were four questions that I had NO IDEA what to make of. You have to imagine two nine year olds trying to spell "conquistadors" and "Cabeza de Vaca". So I had to call the mom back, who was just leaving but put dh on the phone to read me the questions. After that, I spent an hour looking it up online with wee one. I was a bit irritated at this point, and when she kept goofing off, I made her sit in the chair next to me so I could read. She sits for a moment and then says, "Mom, do you know I love you?" I'm like, "Mmmm hmmm", because I'm still trying to make heads or tails of the information. Then she says, "You always make everything right for me when I mess up." Can I get a group "awwwww" here? It made me feel so good inside to hear her say that. Needless to say we found what we needed, and she is a happy girl this morning, knowing that she has her homework safely tucked away in her folder, with no one the wiser on how we came up with the answers. And I am a happy mom this morning, knowing my daughter loves me....

That was nice of you. Apparently this isn't habit with your daughter like it used to be with mine. After awhile I wasn't very nice about helping her anymore. Bad mom.

Sounds like you'll be busy, but it will be nice during the holiday season to have some extra cash, huh? I have to disagree about grocery shopping. I hate it even when it's a new store!
you are so brave taking on all that sewing, I can't sew to save my life. I hope they pay you well ;) I am glad wee one got her homework done, it sounded quite interesting :).............Jules xxxx
