Oh what a night....

You know what they say...."out of the mouthes of babes". This morning the first thing wee one asked was "who won?" I told her, well, we will have to wait and see, but it looks like George Bush is in the lead. Being that we are Republican, she was happy.

However, on our way to the dentist this morning, she asked me, "Why do people say they hate Bush or they hate Kerry? I mean, they are just people who want to be President." This is the issue that I find so sad about this particular election. So many people saying the word hate. While on our field trip last month, there were posters that said something to the effect of "hating" Bush. The two little girls behind me read the sign and said, "It's not nice to say that about someone." Funny how the kids get it, but the 'adults' in their fight to be right, don't.

I may not agree with Kerry on the issues, however, if her were to be elected President, I would stand behind him. I would give him the respect that he deserves as our President. It is what I would do as a moral human being, and as a role model to my children. It saddens me that so many people out there are so hateful. I think it's quite telling of society today, that I would have to tell my child that we need to be respectful of our President, rather than her seeing it by our words and actions.

I believe that both sides fought their hardest, and both sides had good and bad points. Now that it is over, we as America need to regroup and stand together as we face the coming years. And I can say with complete honesty, that I would have said this whomever the people had chosen....

God Bless America

Amen.  The bible tells us to pray for our leaders, and to support them.   It doesn't say to only pray for them and support them if we agree with them.  Sherry, you're teaching your children respect and honor for our leaders.  Way to go.

it is so true that kids see things so much clearer than adults. I don't know either of them fully enough to give true feelings. I think you all had a hard job voting. I don't particularly like Bush but don't know that much about him apart from what we hear on the news over here, and that is often exagerated. I hope he does a good job of looking after you all in the USA after he continues with presidency :) Jules xxxxxx

I'm not so sure when people say they hate either candidate they mean that. I think they mean they hate what the persons done, stands for, doesn't do. My kids were for Kerry just like yours were for Bush..and they were so mad when they woke up this morning. I told them to pray for him to lead us in the RIGHT direction these next four years. What's done is done. And we are all Americans and should be united. It's his job as a leader to assist in that process.

Wee one is wise beyond her years, and it's too bad as adults we just can't see that.  We teach or kids the right and the wrongs...but most adults do the wrong.
I sat on the fence most of this election...your right, both had good and bad, and I said no matter who one...I would supprt them.  You have to now a days...we can't become a country divided...but it looks like it just may.  Lets hope we can stick together...lets hope.
*hugs*

You are so right.  I guess if adults can get into a bother over a little league hockey game, the presidental race would be the same way.

You're right, we do have to regroup as America.  Even though I voted for Kerry, I'll stand behind Pres. Bush.:)
