You know, there is a reason that twenty-somethings go out and party, and married-with-children thirty somethings don't. The older I get, the more I realize that the good Lord's plans for us really do make sense....
I was picked up last night by my friend and two other mom's. One who works full time who's husband stays home, and the other who is also a sahm. They were very sweet and welcoming. We headed off to our destination, a local Mexican restaurant that was having a Cinco de Mayo party. It was rainy and cold, but they had Carona booths set up, a local radio station, and hundreds of men and women looking for a hook-up....
We went in and put in our name for a seat (45 minute wait, outside in the cold, damp weather), and huddled in our group, chatting. The designated driver and I did not drink, however the other two started margurita testing early. It was pretty obvious that we were the "Desperate Houswives" of the group....however, we were the ones that lived around the block from Wisteria lane....the ones who actually look like they have had children and don't get as much camera time. Still, we did receive a few appreciative glances our way....
After about a half an hour, we began the "I am so glad I'm married and don't have to deal with dating but if I did have to which one would I choose" game. Of course, being that the two were drinking, their choices were becoming louder and louder and the guys figured out our game....lol.
Eventually we were seated and ordered our food. The game continued on inside, however the way we were seated made it impossible for me to see the door. All I could see was the window and the booth behind us. My friend all of a sudden screeched, "There's that guy with the great butt!" While I didn't turn around, I got a pretty funny picture anyway....I'm sitting there, with a perfect view of three women, married with kids, staring like dreamy eyed teens at some guy. It was priceless. I told them, "Boy, you should see the view I have....you guys are crazy!" They all laughed and we went on with dinner.
Now, being that the place was so crowded, our waiter was running pillar to post trying to get everything done. And I will admit that when one of the women asked for more salsa, he did pretty much "throw" it to her....so, as we were waiting for our check I caught the eye of the manager and he came over. He asked how everything was and the two margurita girls pipe up...."Great but our waiter SUCKS!!!!" OMG....the other girl and I just put our heads on the table....lol. It was so freaking funny. The manager says, "Well, they all suck tonight because it's so crowded....but what can I do for you?" So the girls say...."You could at least get us a cute waiter!" OMG x2. I, at this point, tell the guy, "You have to realize that they are the drinkers, and we are the drivers!" LOL....he laughs and leaves the table. Not two minutes later this really cute, young waiter comes over with our bill and says, "Good evening ladies....and how are you?" ::flashing of sparkling white teeth:: I happen to turn around and there stands the manager, laughing his a$$ off....I tell ya, it was quite the scene.
Eventually we paid and left....on the drive home the conversation in the car was centered around our husbands, and how much we love them and would never trade them in, etc., etc....I have to say, it was a fun night, but not quite what I had expected. I guess I'm just not into the party scene anymore.
Coming in to my cozy home was such a relief....the dishes from the dinner I had made before I left weren't washed, however they were stacked neatly in the sink....dh had helped wee one with her homework and they were relaxing in front of the tv watching a movie together. She was not bathed or in her pj's like she should have been, her school bag wasn't packed and ready to go, and the dog was whining to go out....and I was thrilled to be in the middle of it all! Hubby asked how everything went and I told him it was fun but that I missed him and was glad to be home. I believe I saw a glimpse of a satisfied smile on his face....but that's okay. On the counter was a bag of peanut m&m's that he had bought me while I was out. Now that's the kind of man I would choose!

You are too funny. But I must say we are very much alike. I am the one who thinks everyone is talking too loud and I'm also the designated driver. I don't enjoy going out on the town very much and would much rather spend a quiet evening at home. We are the lucky ones. . . we know what true happiness is. Have a great weekend (if the weather will cooperate! it's cold and drizzly here in the sunshine state! What's going on?) .:Barbara:.
I ALWAYS feel more at peace when I come home after having a girls day out with my friend. I am so thankful that I have a hubby and family to come home too. Even though it's chaotic and the house is a mess when I get home, I still love walking in that door! Glad you had a great time!!! Next time, request a cute waiter BEFORE your order! ;)
Hugs and love, Lisa
Peanut M&M's waiting on you when you returned home? That is a man who not only loves you but knows the way to your heart.....lol. Glad to hear about your outing. Its good to see how others live now and then. Take care.

Well atleast it sounds like it was not a total loss and you made the best of it. yeah its kind of different going out married I guess. No stress no pressure. No trying to keep up a game. So funny on the way even the gals who were flirty still their minds went back to thier hubbies LOL I think that manager was hilarious. LOL So the big question WILL you do it again????????????? I bet hubby is very happy you were happy to be home. Now i dont know if I could pass up a margurita if it was at the mexican place we have. I tell you I have tried others at other places but this place has them whooped.
I'm glad that you got out of the house and that you had a good time.My favorite part of getting out of the house is walking out the door and then back in at the end of the evening.LOL.Peanut M&M's are the best. How sweet of your hubby.KIM
Well, I have to admit, when you said "going out with the girls," this was the last scenario on my mind. I go out with my women friends frequently -- and almost always spend Saturday mornings with them -- but we go out to talk and nurture each other, not to screech about men. Or even think about men. Of course, we do drink margaritas <G>
I'm glad that you had fun sweetie! :)
Hugs,

Lol! You are so funny, and yet sooo much like me! My idea of a night away is going to walmart with my best friend for two hours, or even to her house to craft... I can't drink either, it doesn't agree with me at all. I do like a yearly night out with the girls to Benny Hannas (sp?) a Janpanese rest. in Indy where they cook in front of you... I saw Rupert from Survivor there once. I also looovvve the Cheesecake Factory... I'm glad you had fun, but I knew that you would prefer your family over it all... which shows how true and loving you are to them!

Hello..
just wanted to say hey and tell you i feel funky going out anymore too. why is it that that happens after a while of being married with kids.. going out isn't a priority anymore. family matters more. you want to be with your family. Been there done that. I just started journaling myself but have been reading yours and several others for a while. So i decided why not and its cool i like it.
come visit mine sometime. I think me & you live close to the same city. The picture of a bridge you had in one of your entrys looks real familiar.
Have a wonderful weekend.
oh thanks for sharing all that sounds like oyu did have a good time yeaaa for you
Oh I must say that this was oneof the best entries! so very true! Once you get married and into "the routine" of life. . it seems fun to go party for the evening but so glad to be back at home with your family.
Sincerely agreed,
Holly
Sounds like you had a fun nite!! It's always nice to go out...but it's always better to come home. ;)
*hugs*

I can so relate. I went out for the first time in our marriage with my husband's sister one evening a few months ago. I did have a few drinks which made me sick since I don't drink that often. My husband was the driver... we had made arrangements for him to pick me up at his sister's house when I called from my cell phone. Ya know, I even cried while I was out - it just wasn't for me much anymore-- and really wanted to go home b4 the fun was over... did try to dance a little but had a good time and yet didn't really have a good time. It was so nice to come home. The worst part was throwing up at the gates- LOL!! I am destined to be married and crochet and cross stitch for entertainment on Friday nights!! I suppose I will escape every few years to remind myself why I collect hobbies as if they were the most valuable thing on earth.
Hugs,
Lisa
You had me laughing once again with your entries. :-) I'm a desperate housewife but, not around the corner from Westeria Lane - I'm MILES away. ::sigh:: We went out for Mexican on Cinco de Mayo ourselves - only to turn around and go else where. We circled the parking lot FOUR times and never found a spot. Somehow I think your group had more fun anyway.

Oh wow that sounded like a pissa. The only thing missing was me. LOL
I've gone out in the past though and come home to the chaos and I didn't enjoy it as much as you. I was like, "WTF?"
LOL Now reading this I think it's very cute the little note he left you. Very very very cute. You are a lucky girl
