Sunday football....

Chicago BearsWell, the Bears didn't fare so well today....they lost to the Jaguars (how embarassing!). Still, we had a good time at the game. We went with some folks from work and another couple whom I did not know. We had great seats, which were unfortunately in the "drunk and rowdy" section. We were surrounded by gin soaked Jag fans....however, being the classy Chicago fan that I am, I sat and politely clapped when the other team scored, even though the f-word was a flyin every time the Bears managed to get a few yards ahead. Am I saying that Jax fans are rude and obnoxious? Well, perhaps, at least the ones I was sitting by....and no, it isn't sour grapes. When you are a Cubs or Bears fan, it's not for the win....it's for the love of the team and a good time.

I am home now with a horrible headache and nausea....dh is suffering from the same thing. I think his may be from beer, as he usually has 3 beers per YEAR, and today he had his yearly limit within 2 hours....lol. Mine, I'm not sure what it is from. Stress, I think.

I didn't get much sleep as last night at 11:30 the phone rang and that is never a good thing in our house if the phone rings late. It was my mom, who in a very controlled voice told me that she thought something might be "happening" to my dad. I immediately woke right up, and began looking for my clothes. I knew something must be wrong for her to call me because she never asks for help unless it is absolutely necessary. She said that my dad was not able to speak, and could only nod his head to yes or no answers, and that was only after a good 5 minutes of trying to get him to respond in any way at all. She asked him if he could talk and he shook his head no, then he sort of pointed to the phone. She asked him if he wanted her to call someone and he nodded yes, and then she asked if he wanted her to call me, to which he nodded yes.

John and I arrived about 10 minutes later, and he was speaking by this time. Apparently he told her that he couldn't breathe, and when she asked him why he wanted her to call me, he said because he thought he was dying. My poor mother was beside herself worrying....and dad was upset as well. After a few minutes of talking to him, he was responding. When mom asked him if it was okay for John and I to leave, he said, "Yes, they have a ball game tomorrow." OMG....we all laughed so hard at that one....it was a laugh of relief! Only dad would tell us something so scary one minute, then remind us of the game the next! I am so thankful that we live close enough that we can be there in minutes if need be. I'm going to call my mom in a bit and get the update on how he was today. She is most likely getting him ready for bed at the moment, which is quite a job.

Well, I need to get things together for tomorrow. Betsy has her scan for her kidney stones in the morning, followed immediately by her appointment with the urologist. I tell ya, the fun never ends! Have a good night....

((((((((Hugs to all of you)))))))))))) What a night to have!  I hope your dad is feeling better now.  Let us know!
So glad you had a great time at the game.  I've never been to a pro football game, but I would love to.  I've been to plenty of baseball games.  I'm a Cleveland Indians fan, naturally, since I'm from there.  It's the law. LOL
I hope that Betsy's appointments go well.  That isn't fun at all.

How scary that must have been to receive that call!!!  BIG (((((HUGS))))) to you and your family!!!!!  And, how touching that your Dad thought of you in his time of need and remembered that you had a game to go to the next day when he started to feel better!  That in itself tells me what kind of a man he is.
Hugs and lots of love, Lisa

That is so scary about your dad.  I'm so relieved he's OK.  I would have been freaking out!
I can't believe you live in Jacksonville and were rooting for the Bears! LOL  As for the Jax fans saying bad words... well, if my team were falling behind, I'd be f-ing it up too. LOL  Maybe I've just lived down here too long. ~Melissa

Hi, I've been reading different AOL journals lately, and yours is one of them. Hope you don't mind. :)  I had to look back and see where you lived, cuz you mentioned "Da" Bears.  But you are in Florida. Are you from Chicago.  I'm there now. and I have family in Fl.  We are Bears fans win or lose, and sit in the cold at the games, now matter what.  It's nice to see people who love em, even when they are bad.  Happy Holidays!! BTW, I'm a SAHM of 2 boys 13 & 9. Married for going on 15 years!  It's nice to see sometimes, we are not alone with "stuff" that happens in our lives.  Christine.
