Today I was on a mission....a mission to find my calendars. I usually get a Far Side calendar each year for Christmas....but for some reason I didn't get one this year. I am also surrounded by calendars here at my desk. I have my desk blotter that I write things on, my "Close to Home" daily calendar (a comic a day type thing), my England calendar hanging on the wall to the right of me, and my Anne Taintor calendar to my left. Why I need four calendars....I do not know. It's kind of a "thing" with me. I already have a 2005 planner for my purse. I still have my 2004 one, which I never even used. I'm enamored with calendars. Anyone care to psychoanalyze that? But I digress....
Wee one and I went to Comp USA to return the power supply that we didn't need, and I looked there for a blotter....nothing. However wee one ended up getting the Sims "Unleashed", which allows the families to adopt pets. She was so excited. I told her she didn't need another Sims game, since she had four already, but she paid for it with her money. We then went to Office Max, where I found my kitchen calendar, which is the new Hallmark "Shoebox" funny one. It's really cute, and is taking the place of my "Far Side" this year. I feel so guilty as I think over the 17 years I've been married, only two of them were non-FS kitchen calendar years! I also got a desk blotter that is decorated with different flowers for each month on it. I couldn't find the blotter I was looking for, which was the Flavia one, and wee one liked this one so I bought it. Now, I had a bad feeling about it from the get go, because I have this "thing" about flowers. I don't like them. They remind me of funeral homes. But, I bought it anyway....$32 for two freaking calendars!
After we were finished there, we went to Borders and guess what? Their calendars were 50% off! So, I got one for above my desk, the "Lang 2005 Folk Art" edition and a daily tear off "Foxtrot" comic one. After we left borders, I couldn't stand it anymore....I went to the car, got the flower blotter and returned it. I know, I know....sounds crazy, but I would not have been happy with it....especially with the month of February which was ::gasp:: ROSES, my most hated flower of them all! I hate the look, the smell....everything about them. I suppose that gets dear hubby off the hook, as I have never asked or complained that I didn't get a dozen! LOL. Of course, I have absolutely no aversion to diamonds, and that would be an acceptable substitute....
So, sometime before the first, I need to get my new blotter. I will hit Office Depot which is where I found this one last year. I also have this ritual where I sit down on January first (not Dec. 31st) and write in/highlight all the important dates. I guess it's a little tradition I enjoy. Santa actually forgot that he hid the girls calendars under the couch in his room....and when I gave Betsy her's she said, "Awesome! I thought "Santa" forgot them this year!" I suppose I am unwittingly training my girls to have a calendar fetish as well!
Not much else went on today. Well, Betsy did go to the mall with her friend in her car today. That was a first. It was so strange seeing them drive off together. She had a blast, and the girl she went with is really nice. She came home with tons of stuff, and used most of her Christmas money. She also brought home a gallon of milk that I forgot when I was out today. It was kind of nice calling her and having her bring it home! LOL.
Well, it's late, everyone is in bed, and I should be too.....night all!

Holy Calenders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL luv ya!
by the way, I never have any..and even if I did have a calender the kids or someone would ruin it or misplace it. I rely on the good old computer clock on the bottom right hand corner of my screen to tell me the date.
ofoto.com...create your own calender. I got one for ronnie for christmas. It was fun and he enjoyed it.

This is a quick "fly by" comment. I am OBSESSED with calendars, too, thanks to my mom! Our Hallmark has TONS of them, in fact, I organized most of them tonight, into a neat little fixture thingy ;) Now, evertime I see them, I will think of you and laugh!
Aww, congrats to Betsy on her first "car" ride without anyone but the road, her friend, and great music! She'll come to LOVE those times!
Hugs

I just realised I haven't got a 2005 calender yet. I usually get one whilst Christmas shopping but then end up grtting a few given to me as presents. I decided to wait this year and not a single person bought one for me! I love the sims game but my people keep dying, hope wee one has fun with hers........Jules xxxxxxx

Every year at the ladies breakfast in Dec this one lady buys everyone a calander. Its a very nice hard calander. WITH beautiful pics of land scapes. Oh so pretty and nice. I use that one and one by my computer and then one in my purse thing is I need to get hte one in my purse in sync with the one on my wall. LOL I guess your new pc has not showin up yet. Have you been tracking it???????? I know you will be so excited to get it. Lori
A calendar fetish huh? Too funny! Here I am just using the free ones you get at Dunkin Donuts at my house! Pretty sad, but it sums up my life, it has to be free for me to be able to afford it! LOL! I am not looking forward to the day when Bethany leaves the driveway with a friend in the car she is driving by herself! OMG! Just picturing that gives me chills! Phew! Okay Lisa, 4 more years. :)
Hugs and love, Lisa
yea now you reminded me whree is mine at lol Somewhere in a box
Here is MY psychoanalyzation:
You are much like me. I have a fettish with office supplies. Calendars are, in fact, "office supplies." So, now, I give you a title that you will forver share with me, "Office Supply Junky" It means one who obsesses over paper, pens, calanders, notebooks, and loves the smell of fresh new books. This person also has a place for every one of her supplies, they are neat and tidy at all times, and has a panic attack if something becomes missing, moved, or, OMG... LOST!!!

I like to have just one nice big calendar to organise the family. If I have more I get confused & double book things.
My life support is my filofax. Diary, notebook & address book & it's one of those with a zip around so I can keep pens & bits of loose paper with things scribbled on them tucked into it.
I have a thing for calendars, too. For some reason, I've always been like this. For me, I like to have a Sheltie calendar in the kitchen, a Thomas Kinkade by the computer, a box calendar down in the rec room. This year I also have 2 Las Vegas calendars given to me by people who went to LV and various nature calendars that were sent to me free. Haven't decided yet where they shall go. Like you, I also don't like flowers and for the very same reason. They remind me of death and funerals. If I walk into any place where there are a lot of flowers that smell makes me kind of nauseous. Anyway, have a Happy New Years!
Susan
Yesterday I was at the mall and I got this CUTE toaster shaped I Love Lucy wall calendar. I can't wait to put it up :) It was on sale for like $7, too!
Great entry Sherri! I thought I was the only one who liked calendars! I have one on my desk, like a blotter desk calendar pad I guess. And two on the wall this year right next to my desk and one behind me. My favorite is the one I bought for this year: It's a Norman Rockwell. Call me old fashioned but I think he's the Bom- bomb? Whatever it is they say now days... he he showing my age! I have gotten away from organizing my important dates for the year but your entry has rejuvenated me. I am going to get on it this year. I miss being a more together and organized person. Last couple years have been crazy busy and I had to do important dates a month at a time. That has not worked so well at times because new important dates come in all year long and by the time I record those there is no time to look up the dates that I'm supposed to be remembering. Too busy, must slow down in 2005. Or just stop day dreaming I guess. That's gotta be where I'm losing time.
