Money jar update....

As of a few minutes ago, wee one reported that we have $101 in the "mad money" jar. Not bad....the girls think we should divide it between them. I think I should cash it and not tell anyone. Wee one has spent hours, lying on the floor counting endless pennies. She has always been like that, able to entertain herself with anything....buttons, erasers, whatever.

I have to say that I was so proud of her yesterday. She was getting ready to change the channel to cartoons at my mom's house, when the Reagan services began. She stopped, and began watching with my parents. She had many questions, and they explained to her as best they could what she wanted to know. She watched for 2 hours with them until I came to pick her up. As we got into the car, she wanted to listen to it as we drove home. She knew that the services in California started at 8 in the evening, and planned her tv schedule around it.

At about 9 she asked me to turn on the station. I told her I was watching something and she said, "Come on mom, it's history!" She then went into the kitchen and sat on a stool, watching. She updated me every so often, letting me know the plane was late, then when it arrived, and then when they had begun. Finally, I decided to join her in the living room. We ended up watching the services together. After hearing his children reminise about their childhood, and how much he loved God and Heaven, she said to me, "You know mom, people shouldn't be afraid to die. It's going to be wonderful up there." I can't tell you how sweet it was to hear my child say that.

Right now we are trying to decide what to do this evening. Dh had to work today, so he is vegging on the couch. I wanted to go somewhere, anywhere! I'm sick of sitting here.

Betsy went to the movies so at least one of us is having fun. Man, I really have been a crab lately. My hormones must be all jumbled up. Who knows....

Wow!  Wee one is wise beyond her years and I think it's great she wanted to watch the funeral.  So many kids her age can't be bothered or just don't understand the significance.  I found myself getting teary eyed and just thinking of how frail Nancy Reagan looked.  Now, on the mad money issue...divy it up equally.  Yeah...right huh?

Wee One sounds like such a pleasure to be around.  Hope you got and did something fun.  Take Care, "see" you in 3 weeks!

We do this too--we have a giant crayon bank that we've been putting our "chicken change" in for years.  Who knows how much is in there!  We're not counting it until it's completely full, then maybe we'll be rich--LOL!
I hope your mood improves--perhaps you need a care package!  Love, Kim :o)

I wish Sara would have watched, but she just wasnt interested. I watched the whole thing, Nancy reagan reminded me so much of my mom. And she was so brave through it all. God bless their family.

I think you have a little genious on your hands. Between the counting and the history. Her career choices seem to be endless. Lawyer, accountant, College professor. President of the United states. Bank President. Head of the Us treasury dept. I think you should let the girls split it...but I think since Wee-One counted it she should get a little more.

If you ever make it back to visit, you should take daughters to the Children's Museam.  They just opened and debuted a HUMONGO new dinonsaur exhibit that is supposed to be one of THE best in the country.

Hope you found something to do, and something to spend that mountain of change on.  Love your graphics.

I say you go cash it and shhhhh, lol

It was a sad day for the nation and I'm glad that your daughter was interested in watching history.

Wow....great that your daughter is interested in history in the making. Also interesting the difference in political attitudes in America compared to England. You seem to appreciate your politicians more. Margaret Thatcher is reviled by many here. She is held to responsible for a lot of the things wrong with this country still. I'm not political enough to judge!
Sneak out of the house with the money, cash it & have a treat!

gosh, $101 sounds an awful lot...sitting trying to work out how much it is in English pounds, lol. I say go splash out and buy something the whole family will enjoy
It's nice wee one watched the service and such a sad time for you all in the USA, I was thinking of you all.
