Why? Because she's a woman?

Sunny Saturday....

Well, it's a quiet Saturday morning....7 am and everyone is sleeping....except for the mil, and my youngest dd and, of course, me. I know, I know....I can finally sleep in, and I'm here, on my journal. Well, I had no use of the computer last night, as my teen and her giggly friend were on until 11....

Percy (my golden) has been epileptic since he was 3 years old. He is such a good dog, and it makes me feel really bad when it happens to him. He has grand mal seizures, just like a human, and is taking Phenobarbitol. He is down to about one seizure every 3 months, and he usually shows warning signs. He will get really jumpy and hide in the closet. The vet says he know's it's going to happen....like a premonition. After he has his seizure, he just looks at me like, "WTF was that?!" Then he hobbles around for a minute....and bounds off like a puppy again. Very strange. Anyhow, thanks to all who were concerned....he's fine. I chose the animation because I'm sure that is how he will feel this morning. "I'm the one who is sick....and they leave me home to go to the beach!"

So, in a few hours, we will be heading out to the surf and sun. It is supposed to be windy today, so the surf should be high. I love seeing the waves come crashing in. Dd is only allowed to go out to her knees....so I don't worry too much. And of course, the oldest and her friend "don't like the beach". Well gee, sorry I am spending the day taking you to one of God's finest creations! *Sigh, I can't win!

Have a wonderful Saturday everyone!

Shop till you drop!

As you may have guessed, we shopped once again today. We hit the other outlet mall, and did a lot of shopping.  I ended up spending $40 on two unmentionables, (okay, bras), and $4 on a Simpson's sound machine for my dh to use at work. He will be the hit of the office.  My mother in law went into any and every shoe store there was, and tried on 20 pairs in each. She never did find anything to buy. *Sigh.  All in all we had a very nice day. She bought my oldest some clothes, and my youngest a boogie board, goggles and water balls for the beach tomorrow.  Truthfully, I've enjoyed having her here. She is not the mil from hell, and she has always respected me.  I'll probably even miss her a bit when she leaves....

Dh called from his trip. They are staying in a hotel that is right across the street from Plymouth Rock. (Not to be confused with Schoolhouse Rock...."conjunction junction, what's your function?") He said they have a pool that is replicated after the bay, complete with a ship and waterslide.  Oh, how I'd love to see him and his buddy from work sliding down that thing.....

Last night I was feeling horrible. I could barely swallow, and my head was aching. I went to bed at 9:00....then the youngest came in and wanted me to switch movies for her. So, I treck to the other side of the house and do that. Then, as I'm drifting off to sleep....she comes in again to tell me she just wants it turned off altogether. So, another trip to her room, kiss, and I'm back in bed. Finally, I''m on the cusp of falling into a beautiful, refreshing sleep when....the bed is shaking and I hear a yelp....the dog is having a seizure. WTF????  He wasn't jumpy, and had had his medicine(he's epileptic)....so all I could do was listen to him pee on the floor, then flop around for a few minutes. Of course, once he was done, I had to give him a bath and clean the carpet.  Then, I had to clean the bathroom, mop the floor, etc.  Sometime after that I told my mil I was going to attempt to go to bed again.....although I might see her later, as things were not working to my advantage. Luckily, I did manage to get to sleep after that. Whew.....

So, that's my story. Tonight the oldest has her friend over, and we are going to the beach in the morning. I am going to sit and relax and try to get over this cold/throat thing.  Have a great weekend everyone!

MIL visit.....

Today, I began my day taking the dog to the vet with my mother in law. We then took him home and went shopping. We hit a few of the decorating stores, etc. Then, when I suggested lunch, she said that she would be fine with leftovers from last night. Alrighty, fine with me. So, we came home and had lunch. I am feeling like crap today. My throat is hurting something terrible, and I'm achey and tired....so I decided to sit on the couch and cover up. However, mother in law decided to clean. I don't know why that irked me, but it did. I guess I feel guilty sitting there, while she is cleaning my house. She vaccumed the entire place, cleaned the bathroom, washed dishes....I know, I know....be happy she is doing this. I am....but it doesn't feel right. And I don't feel like I should be just sitting there while she does it. But I feel so bad today! She has already raked our entire yard for goodness sakes! She said that she can't stand to sit still. She recently sold her home with an acre sized yard, and bought a cottage home. I know, she used the yardwork to help with her grief over losingher husband. And I'm not complaining....it's just weird. I told Lisa I was getting to the point where I'm not picking up things at the store, because she keeps buying them for me. There is no telling this woman NO. LOL....

Anyhoo, that's my day. I am typing this while she is out on her walk, so she doesn't think I wasn't well enough to vacuum, but I am well enough to go online!  Join me in my mantra, won't you?  Three more days, three more days, three more days, three more days....

Early morning doctor appointment....

Well,I just got back from the doctor. We have the Solantic offices around here....so if you can't get into the regular doc's office, you can walk in. I have to say, it's a very nice place. It's brand spankin new, clean and bright, and has the friendliest people there. I woke up feeling much sicker than yesterday, and when I looked at my throat, I figured it was strep. So, the doc looks and says, looks like strep....then swabs, sets the test timer and DING....it's not strep. It's a viral infection, courtesy of my daughter who has had a nasty cold for the past week. *Sigh. So, I spent $35 for him to tell me to take ibuprofin and drink plenty of fluids. Oh well. And he also told me my blood pressure was up. I told him my mil was visiting....and he said, "That could be it!"

So, here I sit, eating a piece of toast, taking advil, and thinking about the scale I just stepped off of at the doctors. I really need to become serious about losing a few pounds. It just isn't healthy to be overweight, especially with a history of high blood pressure in the family. So, hopefully the fact that I am not hungry because of the cold, will jump start a "life style change". I did start out the morning with a shake and a 2 mile walk yesterday, and I will do the walk this evening, since I'm already "done up" for the day.

I've gotten a lot of requests for the strawberry creme cake recipe....I have to tell you, it is the most delicious cake you will ever taste. Three layers of light, yellow cake with a rich creme filling between them, covered in strawberries. It is the best cake I've ever had. However, if I told you the recipe....I'd have to "off" you....so I'll just post the pic when I make it, and let you drool via the internet. Aren't I sweet?

My day....

This is a picture of Florida I found. However, it is not stormy here. Today it's 84 degrees outside. I can't believe how warm it is! And they are predicting 89 for Thursday. I am not ready for shorts yet.

Today has been a long day. I went to bible study, and we had 2 new girls....so of course, it lasted 2 hours instead of the usual 45 minutes. My mil didn't want to go, so I felt bad that it took so long. However, I used the time to chat and visit, and de-stress. When I got home, she was raking the front yard. How's that for a treat? She spent the whole morning out there....then she swept the driveway, garage and sidewalks. She is a nature lover, and hates to sit inside....so I just let her go! I put some grocerys away, started dinner, did dishes, wash and ironing. Now, I'm sitting here, with a horrible sore throat and achey muscles. Crap. Every time she comes, I get sick! What is up with that? I just took some tylenol, so hopefully I will feel better later.

My oldest is with her boyfriend for the afternoon. It's his brother's birthday, so his mom was taking all 4 of them to the mall for the afternoon. She's a nice lady, and is very involved with her son's lives....so I feel good about letting her go over there.  My daugher always picks really nice boyfriends. I don't know who was more upset at the last breakup....her or me! LOL....but, they are still friends, so that's good.  They talk for hours on the phone....

Tonight's dinner will be beef sandwiches. I put the roast in the crock pot, and covered it with a jar of pepperonicci and let it cook all afternoon. The house smells pretty good. I'll just serve chips with it. I'm not up to cooking a big dinner. Although, tomorrow I will bake a birthday cake for my mil, since her birthday is next week.  I will be making my famous 3 layer strawberry creme cake. I made it for my daughters birthday the first summer we were here....and have made it about 10 times since! My aunt requests it for all birthdays and even some of her friends did too....hmmmmm, a new career path? Perhaps..............................................

"Dear Lord...my EYES!!!!"

I have this neighbor....you might remember him. He's the guy who lets his dogs poop in my yard. Well, he just keeps getting stranger and stranger. Here's the story....(remember, he's married to wife#2 and she has a son....)

First of all, let me say that he did something else between this episode, and the dog pooping....but it's so gross, I don't want to say it. I'll just put in a picture and you can decide for youself....He was doing this at the bus stop, in his car. The gross part, (if this isn't bad enough), is that he wasn't using kleenex....and when he got home, he probably wasn't hungry for breakfast....

So, back to Saturday. I was windexing the windows in my car, when I noticed his dog was outside. It was 11 am and the sun was shining. I was just coming out of the garage, and had my head down because of the glare of the sun. I start to look up, just as he opens the door to call the dog....he is standing there, BUCK NAKED. (and yes, I did resist the urge to yell "Snausages!") He sees me, and steps back into the house, but doesn't close the door. So, I act as though I forgot something and go back into the garage. I couldn't believe what I saw! So, I step back into the driveway, just as he is opening the door and calling for the dog again.  What kind of freak is this guy?

First of all, it's 11 am....what is he doing walking around the house all "free willy". Secondly, he has a 7 year old step son who was home. And thirdly, why wouldn't you ask your wife (who was also home) to go get the dog? I just don't get it!

So anyhow....I spent the day shopping with dh and mil. I ended up getting two cucumber melon candles....they smell so good! Very spring/summerlike. Oh! I almost forgot....Jacksonville is enjoying a warm-up, with temperatures in the mid 70's....
