What better way to start the week than an early morning trip to Wal Mart? Over the weekend we ran out of toilet paper, so I had to steal wee one's last roll from her secret stash under the bed. I can hear the confusion now...."Wee one keeps toilet paper under the bed? Why?" Well....according to her I do not buy the correct brand. She prefers Charmin with the *red* packaging. I won't go into detail why she prefers this brand....but no other will do. I apparently committed a cardinal sin by buying Cottonelle. She emerged from the bathroom with a scowl on her face, demanding to know just "what kind of crappy (no pun intended) toilet paper did you buy mom?" So....the next time we were at the store I bought her her own personal 4-pack to keep hidden in her room. Thank goodness she hadn't used it all.
In any case....I went to the store to buy toilet paper and copier paper. $146 later I was leaving the store with a new comforter, sheets, matress pad and curtains for Cruella DeVille....I mean Betsy's room (still hating the hair!), a new purse, candle, razors for me, cereal for wee one and deodorant for JB. Why do I do that? Every freaking time I'm in that store I buy, buy, buy....wayyyyy beyond what I am actually looking for. I think Satan is their PR guy....
Coming home I stopped at Walgreens to buy milk. The milk prices here are outrageous. Over $3 a gallon. I got it for $2.49 this morning. I could have walked out of the store spending only $5 on my milk, but right next to the register....sitting there just for me to see....was a Napoleon Dynamite pen that when you press the button says seven phrases from the movie. I couldn't resist....I couldn't. I reached out and picked it up and bought it. I didn't even know how much it was. Turns out my impulse buy was $5.99. I know, I know. What was Ithinking. I don't know. I just liked it. It wasn't my fault though. Proper product placement does that to me. Apparently they have the same PR guy as Wal Mart. Yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Do you know what I did this weekend? I was online looking at puppies. I don't know why. I just was. It's so lonely around here. Did you know that we spent $250 for Percy, 12 years ago....apparently the prices have gone up some. $1500 to $2500 for the kind I want. I don't think I am going to get one at those prices. Unless, of course, they are sitting next to the register....

Well, I have the same exact shopping problem. I make myself sick sometimes. Aside from the pen though your purchases were good ones. As for wee one and the toilet paper. That is too funny! But I have known people that hide toilet paper and things like that. I am married to someone like that. LOL I have no toilet paper preference it's all the same to me. What I do like are rolls that last and last. I really fear for your harvest table with a new puppy. But you got lucky once maybe you will get lucky again and have a good doggie. I hope so.
I'm with Hayley - Charmin wit the red label for me, too. :)
We got our Golden for $300. I'll keep an ear out if she plans on another breeding or not if ya want.... The mom is one of the petite Goldens and the Dad is a big ol' boy.... we got one that took after Dad :-D
(and I'm keeping my mouth shut about WalMart. I went in there last night for a knee brace and printer ink. I came out with WAY more than that...and I didn't even get printer ink! It's like Vegas as soon as I walk in the door. I"m wow'd by all the pretty lights or something...lol)

I love walmart. I could spend spend spend all my money there.
Cottenelle or charmen. I like both. i get which ever one is cheapest where ever i am at the time i need it.
That is great that you guys are looking at dogs. I was going to mention it but i thought maybe it was too soon. Milk is getting rediculas. My son said the other day. " Mom it's because of the hurricanes." i guess he thought maybe it blowed them away or killed them i don't know but it cracked me up. Kids are a trip...
Take care :-)
Your P R Demon geezer has an British cousin, who works for many of the shops I frequent ,We live in a small market town in the Fens and I like to do my bit supporting them as they struggle to compete with the multi nationals,in bigger towns, well thats my story any way . Jan xx
Sherry I nearly passed out when I saw that pup pic!! What a little angel!! Puppies are pure heaven xoxoxox

First of all, thanks so much for your supportive comments this morning. I really needed that!
I went to Walmart this morning too. Our toaster oven broke. I got a new one for $70, but my bill was close to $140. Hmmmm...
That puppy is really cute! We got your first dog at a pet store for $750 and we got our vizsla from a breeder for $1200!!! I think we should have just gone to the ASPCA, but I we fell in love and you know how it is...the rest is just history!

Hi Sherry!! I am so glad I'm catching your morning entry early in my day! It brightened me up and made me laugh- Satan, yeah, he sure is Walmart's PR guy and doing a darn good job, unfortunately for the both of us. I went yesterday evening and spent $209 dollars and 30 freakin' cents. I am so disgusted with myself. All I bought were snacks, healthy ones- a whole bunch--- milk for like yah, $10 bucks a gallon... just kiddin', same prices over here as yours- way too much at like $ 2.50 a gallon. And a few, I say few, (had to buy two bags just to equal a meal for 5) of fish fillets, as we're going to attempt to try to eat healthy this week, a little bit of chicken and turkey and salad stuff.... some paper goods and deodorant and fresh fruit. Coffee. More coffee. Geesh, I feel like I still have an empty freezer and spent all the extra moola. I'm so bummed out about it because I was hoping to knock out the truck payment early this month since I have to renew my business insurance. Stinks don't it. Now I can't hit the truck payment. Maybe if I'd taken my calculator and stopped at $100.
And I gotta say that puppy is the cutest!!!!! Enjoy that pen though-- our impulse buys were snickers bars, gummy bears, almond joys and paydays and a big fat happy pumpkin. : )
Hugs,
Lisa

I love Walmart but I always spend way to much there too. I always buy Angel Soft but I think I am gonna get the Charmin(red package) next time since Wee one gives it such good ratings. I love the Charmin commercials on tv. I LOVE Napoleon Dynamite. That movie is so funny!! I can watch it over and over- in fact I have watched it over and over=LOL!!
My sister has a full blooded- registered and all- black Lab and she got it for free. Where we live - in our local paper- from time to time people will give away full blooded registered Labs (chocolate labs, black labs, yellow labs). My sister and I got the matching black labs together. It was a few years ago in May. I named mine Ivy May and she named hers Haylee May. they have to have 3 names to be registered= isnt that weird?! anyways I only had mine for a few months and then our baby died and i wasnt able to take care of Ivy and we moved so i gave her to a good home.
Hope that made sense-lol
have a great day
hugs

Instead of critisizing yourself for over spending as many do.
Just be thankful that the good Lord has blessed you and your family financially
so that you can enjoy the finer things in life.
You seem to have it pretty well made.
And thats great.
Im glad that you have nice things to enjoy in your life.
Hopefully someday, my ship will come in.
And I wont be sleeping and miss it........ he he he he
You are indeed a marketing man's dream! Most of us are. That's part of the game. To avoid temptation, I usually make a list and stick to it. If I didn't need/want it before I entered the store, chances are I won't in the future, either.
I was so moved by your tribute to Percy. Losing them is the big downside to having a pet. Under the best of cicumstances, their lives run out much too soon. But they are worth it.
What kind of puppy are you looking for? I used to breed dogs and know breeders across the country. Are you looking for another golden?
You can also contact local breed clubs. They can put you in contact with reputable breeders. Pet puppies will be considerably less expensive than show prospects. Look on the AKC website. It will lead you to local clubs. It's a good place to start.
Lots of doggies available for much less at your local shelter!
Try the humane society that is where we have gotten both dogs that we have had prices are usually cheaper. We got our first dog cocoa for 35 dollars and 13yrs later we got stoker for 75 and we have had him for coming up on 12yrs and the prices include spay or nuetred(sp) Hope you find a doggie:)
Deb
ah you toliet paper stealer and from your daughter no less shame shame. Mine has aketchup feddish LOL

Hey get you a pup from katrina they really need someone. I know you woul dmake a great mommy for one of those. I lvoe halfbreed dogs theya re so loving and resuce dogs are so great. Yes I bet i is lonely.
LOL I hear ya about walmarts we do the same thing here when we go there. Were thinking about taking a trip there this week for food well we have to drive an hour because we dont have one around here. Thats funny because I was thinking the same about my hair coloring it black but I want red steaks in it..or maybe brown.
I can understand that about the toliet paper we always buy the cheap brands but why do they make it so high in price gosh you only wipe your butt with it lol.
Well I just home from school 15 mins ago and i have some things to do around the house before my three kids get home from their school so have a good week!
Again I'm sorry about perky and I can not believe the price of dogs these days either my lil ones wants one. I mean god the aint food, thank god for that i wouldnt yuck! Well take care much love your friend Sara
Sherry, we only use Cottonelle.....Rick likes the way it feels on his rump. Yeah right. LOL If you really want a dog have you thought about a rescue or the Humane Society? At our HS, we can tell them what we want and they call when they get that kind of dog. Of course, rarely is it a purebred. I work for WM so i love how you describe going in there and getting all that stuff. Megan, 16, loves Napolean Dynamite. I think its cool you have that pen. If Betsy lets you, post a pic of the new hairdo! Love, lisa jo
LOl...I hear yo on Wal MArt...There is just something about that place. I was looking at your other journals and seen that your daughter has one as well and she is the same age as my daughter....If she is still journaling she may want to check out my daughters...will give them someone their age to read about, if you don't mind. My Daughter doesn't get online often, but she's out this week for fall break and will be getting on some.

Oh I hear ya! Wal Mart got us too yesterday!! Go in for a little lamp...and walk out with a cart full!!
What an adorable puppy!!! :) Have you looked at your local humane society? Or...have you tried "golden" rescue sites? Just a thought... ;)
*hugs*
Wal-mart has an evil dark cloud over it... don't even get me started. That is funny that your daughter hides TP!!! Very cute!
~Erin
PLEASE look into rescuing an adult dog. They even have golden rescues! Too many dogs don't have a good home and yours sounds like heaven for some lucky dog!
I too only use charmin..hehe what a funny lil' story that was
I go on a spending spree everytime i'm in Target....and Walmart..what is it about those stores...seems like everything is screaming..."buy me"...haha
Hope you have a good week....
Hugss...~Terri~
My oldest LOVES Charmin but she knows not to even ask for it at Walmart because the AngelSoft is right there, 24 rolls for $5.69! But, she has Emma brainwashed because Emma calls ALL toilet paper "Charmin Ultra". She will yell "Mom! I need some more Charmin Ultra in here" instead of just asking for toilet paper! If Bethany could I know she would be hiding the Charmin under her bed too! LOL! I saw that Napoleon Dynamite pen too and Bethany was going to buy it for her friend at school that is in LOVE with that guy (how can you be? He is such a goober! Hee-hee!), but one look at the price had me rolling my eyes. I think a new puppy would be a great idea, just don't get one of those rat dogs. LOL!
Hugs and love,
Lisa
I'm a Cottonelle girl myself--LOL. I think it's cute though that she hides her toilet paper. That is just too funny!! Wal-Mart really does have Satan as their PR guy, I mean how else do you go in there for milk and come out with $150 of stuff that you never knew you "needed"....sigh *~*Emily
Sigh...walmart... yes I do believe the PR for walmart is Satan.....That store is addicting! Glad to hear things are starting to kick back up as usual.....I too am a charmin junky...
I have decided to let justin have his "man" dog..apparently a female mintoy poodle... just doesnt cut it for him I guess lol. Take Care!
I loved that comment about them being next to the cash register!!!! Dogs really are expensive now. I want a one of those little tiny ones but they are way to expensive so I got the kitten! Lelly
