How was I supposed to know????

This morning on the way to school, I was chatting with wee one about nothing in particular. She was telling me things that were going on at school with her friends and such. Then, eyes sparkling with excitement she says, "And yesterday during lunch, my friend and I decided to try to find out how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop." I stopped listening when I heard the phrase, "how many licks".

Earlier I had been cleaning out her bookbag, and repacking it for school. I came across old papers, a few kleenex and....a half eaten tootsie roll pop (in the coveted "blue" flavor), with it's wrapper percariously sticking to one side. I thought nothing of it as I threw the whole mess into the trash. Now, on one level, I am not at fault being that if she had wanted to save the lollipop, she should have taken it out, or at least re-wrapped it neatly so that I didn't think she was done with it. However, when I threw my hand up to cover my mouth in order to prevent the audible "gasp" from escaping, she looked at me with huge eyes and said, "You didn't throw that sucker AWAY did you????"

Whoops. I told her that I didn't know she was saving it, it looked like it had fuzz on it, why didn't she tell me she wanted to keep it....and heck, if she had cleaned up her own backpack, which she is old enough to be doing, this would not have happened. It all fell on deaf ears, however, as she sat there with her arms crossed and a scowl on her face. Of course, seeing that caused me to start to laugh uncontrollably. I couldn't help it....I did manage to stop laughing long enough to ask her how far she had gotten. She answered in an irritated tone, "1000!" Which of course caused me to laugh even more. She, needless to say, was not happy with me. However, once we got to school she was fine. She did tell me that I owe her not just one sucker, but an entire bag of them. And there had better be a blue one in there. I believe I am forgiven at this point....

I had to call my phone company this morning to fix my DSL. I wasn't able to get on for a few hours which was not good. However, the man on the other end patiently helped me and I am good to go. Yippee.

Okay, I'm off to do the sewing I didn't finish yesterday, as well as the ironing I didn't even attempt to do after writing about it. Later....

hee hee...I would've been laughing, too.  Although I gotta say I like Blow Pops better than Tootsie Pops.

So is the 'blue' flavor for taste or for the freaky blue tongue effect?  <g>

LOL! Funny! Poor kid. This is one of those things I never really cared about doing though, since I hate tootsie rools, so as soon as I'd get close to that part of it, it went to the trash! LOL

I'm sure my boys will do it eventually, they both like the nasty things! :)

You think you were lazy yesterday? All I did today was neatin' up and sit on my fat ass.

Is it the exact same commercial as when we were kids?  Where have I been?  I must not watch hardly any tv anymore.  I thought that was an "our generation" kinda thing.  Never thought I'd be writing that.... we must be getting ummm, "older."  (Notice I did so not say OLD).  LLolL!! *Hugs,*

You mean you have a DSL service where they actually help you?!  WOW!  I remember that commercial with the owl and the turtle asking how many licks it took to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop.  They are playing it now and that's why Wee One and her friend were trying to get to the answer.  I believe it's only 3 licks though and then a big BITE right?!  LOL!  Glad you aren't on the "s" list anymore.  :)
Hugs and love,
Lisa
