I just left the cave to run to the post office. I never really considered myself a cave dweller until my husband made a smartalek remark the other day. He was outside paintint wee one's tree house and asked if I would come out of my "cave" long enough to see how far he had gotten. I didn't realize it, but I have been spending an awful lot of time in the house. As a matter of fact, the only time I leave is to:
a. Take Betsy to the bus stop (1)
b. Take wee one to school (2)
c. Pick Betsy up from the bus stop (3)
d. Pick wee one up from school (4)
See there? I do get out....four times a day! Although, I suppose that isn't exactly what he meant. However, during the day I don't actually go outside. I do get the mail, so I suppose that constitutes getting some fresh air....okay, not fresh but stale, humid air. I am just waiting for the humidity to drop off and the "fall" weather to get here. I see the seven day forecast is calling for temps in the low 80's....and you wonder why I don't leave the house?
Sometimes this bothers me, my indoor lifestyle, but more often than not, it doesn't. I'm just a homebody. I know people who are never inside their house....and they are just as happy. I figure, we need to stop worrying about what other people think of us, and enjoy the life that we want to enjoy. So, I enjoy cleaning and decorating, staying home and taking care of my family....soon enough my girls will be out of the house, and I will have plenty of time to go outside. In the meantime you bet your booty I will remain in the cave, enjoying my little world....
In other news....
Has anyone ever trained a therapy dog or know how to get started? I have been researching this, and it seems that Goldens have the perfect temperment and personality for this kind of service. If I get a puppy, I am thinking of looking into the training that is necessary to become certified. I would love to be able to take him or her to hospitals or nursing homes to brighten someone's day.
Oh! I forgot....Betsy said that her hair was a total hit, and that she had never had so much attention from so many guys before. LOLOL....she said that one of her old boyfriends told her that she looked even "more beautiful than before". And the boy she is sweet on, told her that she looked great, and that the dark color brought out her blue eyes. She told her friends that her parents hated it, and they said, "What do you expect? They are your parents!" lol....smart kids. The aforementioned boy also asked her to go out with him to Starbucks. Wow. Who knew a simple change in hair color could do all of that! She was pretty smug last night, being that I was wrong about how she looked. I hate when that happens! But, I am happy that she is happy.
Alright....I'm off to balance my checkbook and start my sewing....have a good one....

Ok, I read the last sentence and thought you had written 'off to balance my checkbook and start my screwing....' I was like 'Whoa...Sherry!' ROFL So, I went back and read it again. ooops.
Pfft...I don't leave the house to even get the mail. I'm sure some of the neighbors think Jesse has killed me or something. I'll go out in the back to play with the dogs at night but otherwise...uch....who wants to stick your head out the door and be slapped in the face by 90 degree weather in October....

Oh, I love my cave! Anyway, about the pup and training, I think you might be thinking of the CGC "Canine Good Citizen" where your dog goes thru a training so that your dog has good manners at home and in a community setting and many people go on to bring their dogs to schools and nursing homes, hospitals to meet with patients and brighten their day...but in order to do these things your dog should have been certified in the CGC. To read more on this topic, that's if this is what you had in mind, I'm not sure, here is the link

I never like to leave home either. I hate having to go anywhere. I go to Walmart once a week and over to my moms once or twice a week. Other than that I am perfectly happy here at home. My husband calls me a hermit crab but I dont care. Everything I need is here at home. I have no desire to leave my home. ok- ya get the idea- LOL!!
I think that is a wonderful idea about the therapy dog. I dont know how to get started though-- sorry. But that is something I would like to do one day.- ofcourse that means I would have to leave home-LOL!!
I am glad Betsy's hair turned out so well.
Have a great day!!

Kadie wants to do something called Punk Cherry to her hair...and I just had to say no....lol...and then I saw it washes it out in 8 to 10 washes...so maybe I might let her....ughhhhh....she has such beautiful hair...sniff sniff...

There are probably therapy dog training clubs in your area. I know there are in mine. Once your dog is evaluated they will take you under their wing and help you along.
I am just like your entry about the staying inside thing. I only leave to go check the apartments when my cleaning people are done, usually at the end of the week right before move in day kind of thing. And to go to Walmart, gas station or run errands. And to take kids to the bus stop or pick them up. I love my world. I love having my office here at home. It's nice and there's nobody to argue with. I do a little work, and then a little journaling and a little cleaning, a little cooking, a little of this n that. It's really been a blessing to have this little cleaning business on the side. I don't have to leave too often. Most of it I can run from the phone or I can get my stops to properties done in the morning and be back at home not too long after. Sometimes it gets to me though. Too much for one little mommy to handle. The employees don't always stay happy. You know, that kind of thing. Yesterday hubby and I went for chinese. I couldn't believe I was actually getting out of the house at lunch time. I liked it too much when I got to come back home. I don't think I accomplish much around here somedays because my list is too long, but maybe I will get things done on it one day. Hugs,
Lisa

My golden girls Munchie and TwinkieBear say Hi too! :)
The think the therapy dog idea is a great one! I know that kids who are sick and the elderly have their days brighten when they get to play around with an animal. Especially if they have to stay inside all day. I see all the time on the news about people training dogs for the sole purpose of using them for therapy dogs. I hope you are able to find the information that you need to get started. *~*Emily
I'm a homebody also. I only get out to take my daughter to school, walk the dog, pick up my daughter and walk the dog again. LOL Occasionally I run errands or do something with a friend but not often.
Training a therapy dog sounds like a good idea.
LOL that's so great about betsy getting all that attention. I hope she enjoys her date. And from one cave dweller to the other I can totally relate.
Oh and I wanted to do that with ellie..but since she hates all people except us that will be totally impossible.
I think the majority of us Moms here in J-land are the same way as you are. I only get out when I bring the kids to school and then go and pick Todd up from work. Fridays are my crazy days when I never seem to be home, so that's how I rationalize that I don't go anywhere during the week. Oh great on Betsy's hair, now that her peers love it, she will never go back to her natural color! LOL!
Hugs and love,
Lisa
I stay in my cave, too, when the humidity is so high. I get physically ill from heat. Like you said, you will have plenty of time when the girls are out of the house. I have always wanted to train a therapy dog. I think it would be great fun. The poor dogs I have now are just not bright enough! LOL We took the Westie to puppy school and even the trainer couldn't get this dog to lay down! He will sit for a microsecond and stay? ha! Poor dumb dog.

Yes, when my DD17 had all those bizarre colors in her hair (she went from green streaks to blue, to red and to purple) all the kids in school thought it was GREAT. (I sort of liked the purple, but don't tell anyone...LOL) But now she's back to her normal color, thank heavens!
I was just telling my girlfriend the other day that I spend SO MUCH time running around, that when I have a free day to do what I want, I usually just want to stay HOME! Now that the colder weather is on the way, my scented candles and my fireplace will have me inside whenever possible!
I say, whatever makes you happy....GO FOR IT!
Jeanne
The reason I'm blonde instead of my natural brown is thanks to my mum. She has dyed my hair blue, red, pink etc so sometimes it's not us teens rebelling, it's our parents!! LOL. I was born and my mother looked at the doctors and declared 'I will create her in mine own image'. LOL
Love Sam xXx
