What can I say....I am thrilled beyond belief with wee one's new teacher. The school she attends is older, and they have problems with storage, so we are used to classrooms that have bookshelves, closets, etc. filled to the brim and overflowing with papers, workbooks, and other junk. Not in this class. The desks were in rows straighter than arrows, lined up with tiny tape marks on the floor. Books and papers were neatly stacked, largest to smallest, pens and pencils in holders....sharpened to precision. The room was sparsely decorated, but what was up was neatly done, just the right mix of 5th grade coolness with just a hint of whimsy here and there.
The teacher is teriffic. I think he won the kids over within five minutes. He was a Navy man for 6 years, detecting incoming missles with "radar". (He had the kids guess how he would detect it). In other words, he has excellent hearing! LOL. I told wee one that he is going to be a great teacher....but one that runs a tight ship. He made it very clear that the class is one big family, but he expects everyone to do their part to keep things running smoothly. This is just what wee one needs....to ease into the next phase of her school life. He is going to be especially watchful of the safety patrol kids, making sure that they are setting the right example for others. This class actually has the most patrol kids in it out of the whole fifth grade. Hmmmm, I wonder if that is a coincidence?
His wife is the assistant in the class, and is finishing her last semester of college. She is going to be a teacher, and from her little speech that she gave today, I can tell she will be a wonderful balance. She is implementing new ideas that she is learning, and is gung ho to teach....which I like. I didn't want her to get a teacher that was 20 years into it and getting bored. Wee one is really happy after being in the class, and ready for Monday!
JB went to my mom's today and pressure washed her entire house and driveway. Her houseis on the market right now and she is nervous about it selling. I don't know why....you think I'm obsessive about cleaning? I'm downright sloppy compared to her! Yeah....I do believe it is genetic! She had 5 or 6 showings today and one scheduled so far for tomorrow. I forgot what a pain in the butt that is, leaving the house on a moment's notice so strangers can walk through your house, ruining a perfectly good starburst vacuum pattern! LOL....
I'm not sure what is on the docket for the weekend. JB will be powerwashing the house and draining the pool, Betsy is working, wee one will probably be swimming at the neighbors and I will be....well....I don't really know what I'll be doing. Although, there is always washing and ironing....oh, and I have to change the bag in my vacuum. Wow, the excitement around here is palpable....

I can't believe there is someone cleaner than you. And I might be mistaken but I think you forgot to say "whilst" in this entry. LOL
I'm so happy she is getting good teachers after that horrible teacher last year.
I'm so happy that she has a teacher she (and you) feels so optimistic about. Gave me a chuckle though. I couldn't keep ANYTHING lined up for more than maybe three seconds. Guess it's a good thing I was never in the Navy -- I can see the ships sinking already.
wow that is great about the new teacher. so glad. We need to pressure wash our house. Now that the road is done. OH man I never leave the house when we had it for sale PEPPER would have killed the people. I cant put him in a cage due to stress cuasing his siezures. Pluse had come home one sunday and though the guy faithfully promised never to come witout me knowing He was there had said he was trying to help me out had set upa an open house!!!!!!!!!! The one day I forgot to vacume cuase we left in a hurry. So no one gets a key to my house but me! i will never trust again I know I m just weird.
Funny about the starburst pattern! We do these perfect lines and sections in our apartments but you could be a real asset in our apartment cleaning business Sherry! You could charge a whole extra $5 to our current fees for making sure every apartment if freshly vacuumed after the shampooer guy with that starburst pattern and say another $1.00 for the really good carpet air freshener stuff. Lol! Glad wee one has such great teachers! I like the team teacher thing they have here in FL ! Aaron has two teachers this year in 1st gr and Nick had two in 3rd. At first I didn't think I'd like it but I really did. They kept those kids in line! Everyone got a lot more attention. And the kids had to meet the demands of two teachers which kept them challenged and on their toes. Hugs,
Lisa
Had a great time catching up with your journal Sherry! Love the orange - Is that new or am I crazy? Tillyx
