Wednesday....

Last night was the safety patrol meeting. It looked as though 2/3 of the kids and their parents showed up for the "mandatory" meeting. They started right on time because as part of the patrols, it is their duty to be where they are supposed to be, at the designated time. It was a nice meeting....short and to the point. The kids are expected to keep their grades up (A&B's only) and were told that being part of the patrol was an honor. And as much as I'm not looking forward to taking my daughter to AND from school EVERY day next year....I think it is going to be a good thing for her. Wee one is, how shall we put this, a little scattered. She is one of those kids who walks in the door and you can follow the trail of books, shoes, clothes, whatever and find her at the end of it. Her room is "controlled chaos". I can go in there and search for something for 10 minutes, then ask her where it is. She will zoom in on it in 2.3 seconds. "Sheesh mom, why didn't you just look behind the desk, under the pile of last year's book reports to the left of my collection of cool gum wrappers?"

Being on the patrol is going to force her to keep things in reasonable order, and to remember certain dates and times. (Good thing because at the very young age of 35, I am already suffering from CRS!) They are to wear a uniform of all navy blue every Wednesday, which means I will have to go shopping. I will be on the lookout for blue skorts! They also said that girls could wear blue tights. Wee one poked me and whispered, "You can cross that off the list. I'm NOT wearing tights!" LOL. The kids also have to attend two PTA meetings a year. I have never attended a PTA meeting! LOL....I know....bad mommy! I was always involved in my kids classes being a room mom, so I thought it only fair to leave all of that stuff to the other moms. Anyway....everything went well and wee one is tickled about it all. When we got there there was a little boy getting out of his car and he yelled over to her, then asked why she hadn't been at school for two days. She told him she had strep, and the mother's eyes got really big and she gave me a look like, "keep her away". That reallyP*&#$^ me off for some reason. I'm thinking, I could have sent her to school but I didn't....so mind your own freaking business lady. Of course, I then realized that this was the woman who wanted to be head room mom, and when I called her to ask her to "help", she never called back. Temper, temper! LOL.

Okay, it's time to get wee one on the bus and off to school. Have a good one!

How awesome for Wee One!  It sounds as though she is going to be able to learn a lot of new and exciting skills from this honor.  I'm really happy for you and you must just be a very proud mommy. :-)
I gotta ask...does she really have a collection of cool gum wrappers? lol :-)

In our school district you can't even be a room mom or volunteer for a class trip unless you have perfect attendance at pta meetings and get voted in for those things by other pta moms from your childs class. So screw them all I hate them. Haley sounds spotlessy clean compared to my kids. No really!
