I believe I've mentioned before that any left overs I have, I usually throw over the fence, to be eaten by the various wildlife living behind us. Every morning when I let the dog out, whatever I have thrown out the previous evening is gone. One day I am going to look out my window and see obese racoons on those little motorized scooters, waiting for dinner....
I don't know what happened, but lately the most exciting thing to do around here is a new activity which we have dubbed, "Lob the Leftovers". I have been mid throw when I will hear wee one yell, "WAIT....I WANT TO THROW IT!!!!" Her favorite thing to throw is anything that will explode when it hits a tree....i.e. eggs, soft fruit, a tomato. I think it all really started the week after Easter when I had 3 dozen hard eggs that needed to be disposed of. I was walking to the porch when she spotted me. She grabbed the bowl and went running....shortly followed by Betsy....and then their father. For the next few minutes all I heard was, "YESSSSSsssss!" and "Did you see that one hit the tree? COOL!" Who knew pitching stale eggs constituted a parental bonding activity?
In any case, the above pictures will give you a taste of what goes on at our house around 6:00 every evening. I also included two really bad pics of a lizard that lives on our screen. He sleeps there every night between the porch screen and the pool skimmer that is propped up against it. He's pretty cute I think. One of hundreds that will grace our home this summer.
Speaking of summer, dh just informed me that we will be opening the pool next weekend. I am looking forward to it since we are starting to work on the lawn. Now I'll have a nice place to cool off after working all day in the hot sun. I think this will be the last year for my clearance rack, $15 pool cover though....lol. I'm surprised it lasted two years!
Well, I'm outta here for now. I have been such a slacker lately in the journal department. I don't know why....it just seems that with all the changes AOL is making, it doesn't feel like a "family" environment anymore. I hate the new html format....and the new "journals" page is horrid. I used to look forward to seeing the top 5....now it's just so impersonal. Oh well....I suppose it was bound to happen some time!
Later....

I am with you...I hate the new changes on the main journal page...I hardly even go there anymore to even see who's made the list.
Looks like a ton of fun throwing food!! LOL.
Have a good night!
*hugs*
Love the "lob the leftovers" and lizard tales! Sounds FUN! We have an activity at our house too: it's something like see who can get dad away from the kids! He is such a big kid and the boys all wrestle and jump on eachother and usually it doesn't stop unfortunately til someone is in tears. Don't ask me why though but they always want to go back for me hurting fun! I don't get it-- being raised in a household of all girls (stepdad was on the road traveling) we didn't have "wrestling events" at all... no one cried except when mom decided to tickle us or kiss our eyeballs and we all hated that! That is awesome that you have a pool in the back yard. We have one in the allotment here thank the good Lord or I'd be packing to go north in search of cooler summers ! Hugs,
Lisa
thanks for sharing the pea things sounds like fun lol for sure, Ia m slacker to lol
Well, I've missed hearing from you. I've noticed how my j-land has just turned into a small circle of people whom I've come to love reading every day... and the journaling on my part... well, I think it's really more for me as it gives me a bit of piece in the day. I have to admit, though, I've started hand-writing my truest journal again and it has been quite rewarding.
Regarding the food flinging... you guys are nuts! Shouldn't your kids be haning out at the mall and shoplifting or something? Just teasin'... I love that you can come up with new and inventive ways to entertain your children... I must try this at home!
Regarding the lizards... THE #1 & ONLY reason I WILL never live in Florida. "Oh I long for my Indiana hoooommme!" I was taking out the trash on vacation in Florida once and was greeted by one of THOSE THINGS and I nearly passed out!
Hope you are well, hope to hear from you soon! Thanks again for your encouragement.

I feel the same way about the new HTML stuff I hate it so much.
The lizard is cute. He looks bigger than melissas. LOL
The food throwing looks like a blast. I don't have to throw the food to the racoons, I just gotta turn on my light at night and look out the window and there they are throwing my cans over and looking at me like, "Yea you got a problem with this?" You're girls are soooooooooooooooooooooo adorable!
lol lob the leftovers, that is way to funny!
You could start your own gameshow <grin>

Hi! I am new to journaling and stumbled across yours a few weeks ago. I love reading your entries. I have a friend that lives in Florida and she talks about the lizards there. If my husband had his way we would move to Florida tomorrow. From reading your entries I can tell that you are blessed with a wonderful family. Your Betsy reminds me a lof of my 15 year old sister. I am 30 years old and having a 15 year old sister is, well, its different! Have a great day!!

:-) I really enjoyed this entry. It's so funny how silly things like lobbing leftovers can be something that a family will enjoy together. hehe
I have been slacking on my journal too and I feel the same way that you do - AOL Journals are not exactly cozy anymore. :-(
But, I still love your journal!! I can't believe that I've been reading it for almost one year now! Crazy!
