Mmmmm, pie....not really

My mother bought a lovely blueberry pie for dessert tonight. I was pretty excited about it (man, I am lame) as I do enjoy a good blueberry pie. I didn't eat all of my dinner, which happened to be a very good homemade stir fry complete with mini corn and waterchestnuts....anyway....I served up the pie with some Blue Bell ice cream and, well, it was a disappointment. The filling was not very good, and the crust was soggy. Man, I hate that....you know, when you have a taste for something and you just can't wait to eat it, then when you get it, it isn't what you thought it would be. Oh well. That just means I won't be picking at it all evening.

Nothing much going around here today. Actually, it was pretty boring. I got up, took the dog to the vet for his re-check....amazingly under $100!....then went and picked up my mom for a quick trip to the drug and grocery stores. Betsy was home with a stomach virus but didn't mind sitting here on the computer for hours on end. I bought her some Hostess mini blueberry muffins....her favorite. I love getting the kids a little something special when they aren't feeling well.

Whilst standing in line at the store I noticed a Woman's World that had the ingrediants to a "cocktail" that is guaranteed to help you lose weight. So, of course I had to buy it. Want to know what it is? Let me save you the $1.49 and tell ya....two garlic supplements with a water/apple cider vinegar chaser. Yup. I paid $1.49 for that. I should have just bought some apples or something. Sheesh. I don't think I'm going to be downing vinegar to lose weight. I'd rather be "pleasently plump" than a "marinated mini-me". Ick.

So, I came home, read my magazine, sat on the swing for a while, chopped veggies for dinner....and so on and so forth. I have been so lazy lately. I think it's from being sick. I always have a hard time getting back into the swing of things after a week of feeling lousy. Oh, I did buy the ice cream for play day....$15.00 worth~! We "absolutely can NOT ask parents for money" when it comes to the kids party....so we room mothers end up shelling out the dough. Doesn't seem quite fair! I don't mind, but the thing is the party is for EVERYONE, so shouldn't EVERYONE contribute? I think a $3 donation at the beginning of the year, by each child would be great. That way we would have $30+ per party. And honestly, if there was a family that couldn't afford it, I certainly wouldn't mind covering their portion. Jeez.

Of course, the only day that we are expecting rain is....Thursday. Crap. I hope the forecast changes before then. It's supposed to be 78 degrees, which will be great. Hopefully the sun will do what it normally does, and bully the clouds away!

I am so freaking itchy! No, I don't have some weird rash....it's the dry weather. When we were in Indiana I thought I was going to go nuts between dry hands and electrocuting myself every time I touched a doorknob. Funny how it never bothered me for 33 years, until I moved here with the uber-humidity. I'm becoming a winter wimp. My idea of a cold day was -20 degrees three years ago. Today? Well, lets just say when the air kicked on I had to go outside to warm up....

Okay, I'm outta here....have a good one!

It is so easy to get used to the hotter weather but going back to the cold is VERY hard!  I am wearing a sweater today because my house is 68 inside (no heater or AC on).

you cant ask for money dang our room mother nickels and dimes us to death always finding something to buy for the teacher...I appreicate her and stuff but this woman goes overboard...example we had a appreicate the teacher day your suppose to spend only 40 dollars well she went 70 dollars over the forty and its all money she has roped us into donating....
Can you ask for the parents to donate stuff ....Like since you were having a ice cream party ask the mothers to have there kids bring a pint of ice cream that day and if they dont want to donate ice cream they can give you the money and you will buy it for them... how are you supposed to give the parties without help from the parents

Hi! I am new to journaling and stumbled across yours.  You are quite entertaining-LOL!! That is a compliment by the way! I also buy the Woman's World and although I get them all the time, the articles are rarely as good as the title makes them appear to be.  But I will never learn. LOL!  Hope the weather doesn't disappoint you on Thursday for the school play day!  Angel

I know exactly what you mean about eyeing up a dessert and it ends up tasting like gross crap! Horrible eh?

Hope the play date works out well. A mere 78 degrees? it was seventy here today and that was some treat!

take care! going over to Bets now.

Hee-hee, the air kicked on and you had to go outside to warm up?!  I guess I am totally the opposite here in Connecticut, I have to have it sub-freezing weather in my bedroom during the Summer in order to sleep.  I love blueberry pie too!  If the crust is soggy, there is always the filling which I think is the best part anyway!  YUMMY!  So, garlic AND vinegar will make you thin huh?  I bet it will make everyone stay very far away too!  LOL!
Hugs and love, Lisa

My favorite is cherry pie!  With that whipped cream in the can... the light and airy stuff!  A true weakness.  That is great you have been a room mother this year.  I have missed the whole room mommy thing just keeping up with our business but maybe next year.  Well, off to get my day going!  Have a great day!

eugh, drinking vinegar sounds yuk and you'd end up smelling like a fish and chip shop. I think, like you, I would give that a miss. Hope Betsy feels better soon.......Jules xxxxxx

Why can't you ask the parents for money? Our class mothers were asking us for five bucks a week for this or that all the years my kids were in school. I COULDN'T STAND THOSE WOMEN! I can't believe you are one of them. LOL
AND Blueberries? Yucky.
But I know what you mean about being disappointed over a pie.
You are not lazy.................not ever... even if you think you are you aren't.

I also love getting the kids little somethings when they're sick.  It always puts a smile on their pouty, sick faces.
Can't wait to read about the school party. :-)
