Well, today we got rid of our boat, Flo....named lovingly by my dear friend Martha who suggested it (Future Lawn Orniment). The couple who bought her were so excited. It was their first boat, and they are going to surprise their kids with it. They are going to buy them some of those boating innertubes and tell them they can use them in the pool....or....(drumroll....open the door) in the boat! I thought it was a cute idea.
We took them to the dock today, to give them a quickie lesson on getting it in and out of the water. It's a bit of a chore when it's your first time, and a lot to remember. However, they did a fine job and things went swimmingly....almost literally. You see, to get the boat off the trailer, we showed them how to do it with only two people. Instead of having someone to back it into the water, and someone who is in the boat to start it and back it up, we used the ropes to gently pull it off the trailer and around the side to tie it up. So, while John is directing the guy back, the woman and I grab the lines. I am at the end of the dock, pulling, stepping, pulling, stepping, pulling....why did no one tell me the dock eventually ended????
I started to put my foot down and felt....nothing. I looked down and thankfully, since I had such a tight grip on the line was able to pull myself back toward the dock before falling into the water. And to top it off, the dock is directly in front of a waterfront restaurant....which of course was serving dinner. There was only one couple sitting outside, however, I saw the woman stop, fork mid-way to her mouth, watching to see if I fell. She then nudged her husband and he turned around. Funny thing was, no one I was with noticed what was going on.....thankfully.
After getting the boat in the water, we went on one last ride. Let me say, this guy isn't into leisurely drifting along. Noooo, he decided to see just how fast that baby could go. I was white knuckling it for at least 2 miles. He then decided to check out the turning radius....I don't think my side of the boat was touching water at that point. Let me just say....I don't believe I will miss that thing!
So tomorrow I get to make a trip to the bank to deposit some cash....and you know, I think that matching rocker that I didn't buy the other day will complete my patio set rather nicely! LOLOL....

My husband keeps saying he wants a boat. I just wonder WHY??? He works 7 days a week and when he does get time off all he can do is yard work or build a fence, or rearrange the barn. . .it will go the way of the old "fixer-upper" jeep, the 4 wheeler, the horses. . .all lawn ornaments! And the horses are expensive to keep up! They are like wild mustangs now as they never get ridden. . . no one will ever want to buy them! .:Barbara:.
omg i DON'T THINK THAT GUY SHOULD BRING HIS KIDS IN THE BOAT. OMG. LOL YOU POOR GIRL. I AM SO GLAD YOU DIDN'T FALL THAT WOULD HAVE SUCKEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD. IT'S FUNNY THOUGH...WHENEVER I TAKE BRI TO THE PARK THAT HAS THE OCEAN WELL HELL EVEN YEARS BEFORE SHE WAS BORN I STAND ON THE PIER AND WATCH THE PEOPLE BRING THEIR BOATS IN AND OUT OF THE WATER. IT'S SO FREAKIN' ENTERTAINING. I'M LIKE WOW.
WHO'S THE OTHER FLO? DO I KNOW HER? lol
Congrats on selling Flo...doesn't sound like you will miss her too much after that last ride!! Yikes!!
Have fun shopping with all the new found money!!!
*hugs*
ps...I suppose you have to share that with hubby too huh?
HOORAY! Flo has left the building, or should I say driveway! LOL! It is an event to get a boat into the water with only 2 people, I remember my friend and her husband doing it all the time, although he would wade into the water and be soaked before he even got into the boat. The way you guys do it sounds much better, except for almost falling off the dock! LOL! You would have seriously entertained everyone if you did though! "Hey look honey, live entertainment as we eat our lobster!". :)
Hugs and love, Lisa
LOLOL, that boat trip sounds like a blast! Oh that is too funny. You crack me up. Yay, get the rocker, how nice it will be to sit out... hurry, before mosquito season starts up! ~Melissa
Oh I'm so bad, but geez I've missed so much. I went back and read back a few entries.
The Holy Land Experience really sounds neat. It's not too far from me even. I think I'd love to go.
The patio set is so pretty and I love that you aren't looking into your neighbors back yard, you actually have scenery! LOL There are so many things you can find in your own yard when you live down here and that frog was cute! ~Melissa
Sounds like an event filled day! Boat race, a near dip in the water... you will be glad you don't have to look at the boat anymore and wonder if you should be out using it!! We had this membership to a camp grounds once and then the Universal Studios season tickets... gosh darn it... I imagine it was a lot like owning a large lawn ornament... I know we didn't use either one as much as we should have. Didn't get our money's worth out of the campgrounds thing for sure! Enjoy the new rocker!
Hugs,
Lisa
