Well, we survived the shopping trip to the mall. What a day. I had a pounding headache by the time we left. Betsy started by taking 5 shirts into the dressing room, and coming out with one she liked. This child drives me batty. As I sat there amongst the flat-tummied teens, belly shirts and short skirts, I couldn't help but imagine what I would buy if I could fit into this stuff. Maybe that is why I'm not thin....I would cause our family to declare bankruptcy. Betsy has that perfect figure. Perky up top, tiny waist, no butt and slim legs. Yet her dressing style is a cross between sporty and Daria. Everything is either black or red....so you can only imagine her horror when we walked into the second store that boasted the color PINK everywhere. I told her, "Honey, pink is the new black." She didn't crack a smile.
Things did pick up though, and she got 7 tops of various colors, a pair of converse sneakers (I find it hard to call them sneakers at $35.99), and a new hoodie although black, it has pink letters on it. (I guess that will have to satisfy me!) She did a really good job with bargains, the hoodie being the only thing she paid full price for. She did the 50% off racks for everything else, and even found the shoes on sale. After all is said and done, she's got $95 left for unmentionables and a book bag.
Wee one on the other hand....*sigh. It wasn't 5 minutes into the store when she started with, "Are you telling me we are shopping for Betsy today? I can't go to my stores? If I had known this I would have gone to grammy's. This is boring!" I think this was about the time my head started aching. Then she started with, "My back hurts from standing....rub it!" Well, she is getting up there in age....9 1/2 now. Arthritis was bound to set in sooner or later. After about 2 hours of this, I was ready to scream. We were in the last store purchasing the hoodie when she started in her sing-song voice, "You're wasting your money...." Apparently Ms. Frugal doesn't think anyone should pay full price. We ended up getting the tired/thirsty one a Coke, and headed off for home.
Friday is Wee one's day for shopping, since it's payday. We will also go get all the school supplies. I'm looking forward to that. I could shop for school supplies every day! I love sniffing the crayons and feeling the smooth, coolness of a new Pink Pearl eraser....
Today I have managed to clean a little, wash a little and give the dog a bath. He smells so clean now, and is fluffy and curly. Whenever I wash him he gets curls. It's cute. Washing him is a big job, usually reserved for dh, however it fell on my shoulders today. He has a vet appointment tomorrow (Percy, not John), which means my bank account will be as dry as the Sahara. Ahhh, the joys of pet ownership....
I am making blt salad for dinner tonight. It just sounds light and refreshing to me. I hope dh feels the same way....although I'm sure he will complain about the lack of meat. He's such a meat eater. He definately would have been a Tyrannosaurus Rex had he been a dinosaur.

Doesn't sound like such a horrible trip to the mall. Too bad you couldn't have let Betsy go off on her own and done her shopping. Gotta give my dog a bath also, but she's small and fits in the laundry room sink. She hates it though.
Thanks Mom for taking me..I had a really nice time even though I knew you didn't want to really be there and had a headache..plus Hayley. I'm sorry I'm so picky..I guess that's just a symptom of this disease called "being a teenager." Although I did get a lot and am happy with every last purchase. Although you did for get to mention my new Slipknot CD I cherish now...almost as much as KoRn..dundundun....thank so much Mom,I love you! ^_^
~Betsy~
Sounds like you had a buys day and you could do with a massage as much as I could. Pity you're the other side of the world or we could have gone together and oggled at the male masseurs ;) Wish me luck for my teen shopping trip tomorrow and good lucj for your next trip.
Animals are expensive but give unconditional love so are worth every penny, I love my cat and dog more than anything, even Mick, lol..........Jules xx
Would you believe my five year old who is just starting kindergarten wants to pick out his own clothes. He loves everything CAMOUFLAGE!!
lol love your comment....pink is the new black....will remember that one :)
I'm glad you survived shopping today. I have my lists made out for the kids' school supplies and we will be heading out early Friday morning, payday. Back to school shopping is fun.....only because it means we're one step closer to them going back, hehe!
I had a pounding HA today, too. Jonah is driving me NUTS!!! I am determined to believe that teens are really toddlers at heart... stubborn, picky, and dramatic. All in all, they are both absolutely loveable, but fight for independence at any chance.

LOL, a T-Rex for a husband. Imagine. I love shopping for school supplies almost every year, but this year was horrible. I don't know why. I couldn't find any of those fat pink erasers this year! ~Melissa
I get tired just reading your journal. I hope your head is better. Giving the dog a bath..is a days work in itself and would definitly be cause for me to take a nap.
I love school supplies too!! Omg...the smell of fresh crayons..and the notebooks, and the pens....I think I bought more for myself then I did for Josh and he's the one going to school!! ~ Julie
Talk about a coincidence! We both washed our dogs today and I had blt's for dinner (even though it wasn't a salad, it still was close to what you had)! I give you all the credit in the world for getting through that shopping trip!! And, remember when Converse sneakers were what we all wore because they were cheap?!?!?
Hugs and love, Lisa
I just realized, I NEVER have to shop for school supplies again, I never have to go from one store to another and have them find NOTHING. I never again have to deal with those pounding heads!
So, tell me ... why do I miss it?
Monica
Men love to eat meat, women love to shop. I know, doesn't make sense does it. Hugs Lanny
Glad to hear that's over with!! haha
I love buying school supplies too...I got to go last night!! YAYAYA...I was as excited to open it all up and pack it into the backpack as she was!!

I just got a retriever 6 months ago. She is a "second hand" dog. I was really pleased to see she was a lot less fluffy than our old dog who took at least 2 hours to bath as his fur was so dense (Lab X GSD). However since she started to moult I've been panicking. After a bit of research on the net I've found retrievers moult like no other dog!!! Why did I not research before I aquired another pet??? Still....what is a home without a fine coat of hair? What is a pet without the bathing, trips to the vet, 'accidents' indoors, difficult to apply treatments, grooming, running off, vomiting..........
Well done you on surviving a mother/daughter shopping trip. After several frustrating hours in town about a year ago, I ended up buying bras with my eldest & lost the plot & started 'raising my voice' as she would not consider any bra that showed her nipples. She didn't want any 'definition' at all. I was shouting "everyone's got bloody nipples for christ sake, you can't hide them completely" when there was a discrete cough & a nice sales lady appeared with a selection of slightly padded bras. Worse was to come....we chose about 4 went to the check out & my credit card was over drawn! I had to ask them to keep the bras behind the counter for a few days until I paid my bill! How mortifying.
I have yet to begin, and I already DREAD it! You survived, maybe I will.... anG
Why haven't you written since Tuesday? What's up with that?
