I'm melllllltingggggg.....

Thermometer BurstIt is so freaking hot, you could literally fry an egg on the sidewalk....or the pool deck....or my head....take your pick. Right now, I wish I were in Alaska during a snow storm. Or at least skinny enough to fit in the freezer. Not only is it hot, but the humidity is somewhere in the 500% range. My makeup melted off my face, my hairspray turned into glue, and my deodorant? You don't want to know.

So, what did I do on this wearing-a-parka-in-a-crowded-elevator-would-be-cooler-than-this day?  I went to downtown Jacksonville with my aunt and daughters, to scope out the art camp wee one will be attending. My aunt, who is the "queen of walking", (although Sully is getting up there, with her 5 miles in the heat), decided we should park, then walk the "two" blocks to the museum, since there was a bit of construction. Fine I say....but what she doesn't tell me is that you have to park, walk through half a mall, and then outside down the 3 blocks to the museum. You would have thought I had asked wee one to walk across the Sahara. She was whining before we even got into the mall! Every step she took, she complained.

"Are we there yet? How much longer? My feet hurt. I'm tired. Where IS it?"  I was ready to explode. Finally we arrived, and decided to dine in the cafe. It was very good....a small menu with few items....mostly gormet. Wee one took one look at it and gave me the eye. I knew she didn't like anything on it. Thankfully, they had a tuna salad, which is her all time favorite. I was worried, as she only likes it the way I or my mother makes it....but apparently this was good. Afterward, we walked back and stopped at a little shop just to browse. Of course, immediately wee one found a frog marrionette....and now owns it.

I wore the wrong shoes for the treck....and now my heels have been rubbed raw.  I will be sporting the "band-aid" look for a while. I also bit my tongue so hard it bled....which was such a nice ending to our outing.  We got back to the plant and went inside to see hubby for a minute. Ahhhh, glorious air conditioning! It felt like an ice box....wonderful.  Of course, after our visit, we had to get into our dark green van that had sat in the sun for the past few hours. Now I know what a turkey on Thanksgiving feels like going into the oven. My car didn't cool down until I was a mile from home.

So, that is my hot, steamy, Florida day. All you northerners who wish for the warm weather in the winter.....trust me....we pay for it. Stay put. Never, ever, under ANY circumstances move here. Mickey isn't worth it. I have a feeling he just hires people to wear costumes down there in Orlando, and is enjoying his money somewhere at a Colorado ski resort.....

Gee Sherry, is it hot there?  Lol.  Seems like everyone is in the heat except for us.  Yesterday was a high of 64, and today we have warmed up to 76!!  If it's not raining it's chilly outside...poor Josh's pool is still in the box!! I am sure we will get our share of "warmth"...just don't know when???
Stay in the air conditioning and sending some of our cool weather your way!!
:o)

isn't it funny how I am asking for more sun and you want less. Something in between my weather and yours sounds perfect! I must admit I don't think I could cope with the type of heat and humidity you are getting. I hope it settles into a more reasonable and comfortable temperature for you soon. Hope your heel, where it rubs is less painful as well, take care................Jules xx

I have hardly gone outside for 2 days.  The heat is really awful and rain doesn't really help, because after the rain, it feels like a sauna.
Art Camp sounds like fun.  Hopefully you won't have to take that walk everyday of it and can get closer parking. ~Melissa

That was one thing I never liked about Florida.  When I was visiting my parents I would go between Oct and Mar ... I've already told my youngest that when I visit him it will be during those months. I really don't envy the  kid, he's been so spoiled by the weather in the SF bay area weather.   Anyway, I was getting HOT just reading your entry, melting actually.

You couldn't pay me enough money to move to Florida as you know!!!  I will sit tight over here in the East complaining about 50% humidity and the 80 degree temps being too hot!  I feel your pain, I truly do!!!
Hugs and love, Lisa

I have been to Florida this time of year and I have to say it's not much different than here. I would love to move where you are.  Hubby has a big N.O. on that one. He lived in Orange Park for 8 years and refuses to go back. Oh Well. At least we have the leaf changes in the fall.
I love your journal! I found you through Lisa (Lisbnjvi)

p.s I was in Orlando Christmas of '89 when it snowed for the first time in 82 years!!  At that time I was living in Indy... so imagine my disappointment..

Hilarious, Sherry!  You may think this is nuts, but went it gets hot around here (like it has been for the past week), we watch Christmas movies with the A.C. turned down and the ceiling fans on full-blast.  It's a lot of fun, and it gives us the "illusion" that it's cold outside.  Love, Kim :o)

I have big fat bandaids on my blisters on the back of my heels from the beach and the zoo outtings. And I am just like weeone..i hate walking accross anything thats as hot as the sahara. Leave the make up off..you don't even need it. Invest in some of my cream I use and you will glow. Let your hair dry naturally and use some of the hair thickening cream I use, sunglasses and you're set. Sorry you are so hot...go jump iin the pool..thats where I am headed in a few.
