Thursday....

Today I took my oldest to the doctor for her knees. She came home yesterday and said she cried at school due to the pain. She has had bad knees for a few years now, but all of a sudden, they seem worse. She pops Advil daily and I'm tired of worrying....so the doctor felt her legs, x-rayed them, and did an arthritis blood workup. The doc feels that it is a syndrome caused by the legs growing, but the ligaments aren't keeping up. So....she is going to do some physical therapy and see how that works. She doesn't feel that it's arthritis, although she wanted to make sure, since she had the same pain in both knees. I just want her to feel better.

After the doc, we picked up hubby, who took a half-day off to try out the boat. We ended up going out to lunch and to the store, since it was absolutely POURING outside. Thunder, lightning, the works. It figures....the one day in April that it rains....

But, then the sun appeared; it's rays shining through the clouds, warming the earth and shining it's light on God's creation....and we decided to take the boat out. I had been crabbing all day that I didn't want to go. I have things to do, floors to mop, clothes to wash. But, he won this argument and we went....

I LOVED IT!!!!  I had forgotten how much fun it was to be on the water. As a child, we were on the water every weekend. I'm actually burnt on one shoulder. OMG....you should see some of the houses on the shore. I couldn't afford their boat houses, let alone the home! We did have one overboard issue....I stood up just as we pulled away from the pier to move forward and my beloved British hat flew off my head and into the water! We did two drive by's and my dd grabbed it. It is now drying off on the counter. Whew.

Well, I am going to go now because as you know, the spray from the water comes up into the boat, and onto the windshield....and I must go windex. Wouldn't want to be seen in a boat that was less than clean!

Glad you had fun on the boat (and your hat was rescued!).  I hope the therapy works for your daughter--I'm sure that is a scary thing for a girl her age to be going through--thank goodness it wasn't arthritis!  Keep us posted!  BTW--"Greased Lightening" is a cleaner that works GREAT on fiberglass--just thought I'd let you know!  LOL! :o)  Love, Kim

Glad you had a good day on the boat.  Hope dd is ok.  It's hard watching your daughter hurt.  I loved her pictures in her journal.

Well, I certainly hope your daughter gets some pain relief!  Tell her to be careful with those advil... they are the perfect recipe for an ulcer.  Glad you had fun on the boat... what a blessing to isolate yourselves in water and be forced to relax, how wonderful!!!  I have good news to share but my journal has said it is busy for two days and I've emailed them with no reply... I can't update or anything... any suggestions?  Blessing to you and yours! ~Erin

I want to ride in a boat!  Guess I'll have to settle for doing laundry.  :)

My oldest had the same problem with her legs, not only her knees.  Docs said it was "restless leg syndrome" (they have a name for EVERYTHING don't they?) and it was for the same reason, her legs were growing too quickly for the ligaments to keep up.  Banannas actually helped, and don't laugh, but the potassium in them works better than any Advil will!  And, it sounds like you had a great day out on the boat!  Glad you all enjoyed yourself!!!
Hugs and love, Lisa

I'm very happy the doctor doesn't feel she has arthritis and hopefully it's something she will grow up and out of. Sounds like you had a nice time on the boat even though you lost your hat. I love looking at pretty houses too.
