Morning....

Yes, it's another exciting Thursday morning. I chose the crayon graphic because....I couldn't think of a thing to write about, and I hoped that cruising through some graphics would spark the imagination....however it didn't. I just like crayons. They smell good. I remember when I was a kid, I loved the gold, copper and silver crayons. I would take those three, and not share them with my sisters. I always loved coloring books too. My parents would get them for us whenever we were sick. If I had the stomach flu I could always count on four things....my crayons, a new coloring book, black cherry jello, and my beloved sick tray. We called them "sick trays", but they were actually those metal trays with folding legs that you used to eat in bed. I remember they had cartoon characters on them. You can still get them at Wal-mart. Man, those were the days when mom would take care of you when you were not feeling good....

I remember my mom would let me sit in her bed (the most comfortable....as my kids say mine is too), give me all my goodies and turn on the black and white tv. I thought I was a queen. When I was really small, around 5 years old, I had a terribly high fever, and she would give me an alcohol bath. She's use a bucket of water with alcohol mixed in and "wash" my arms and legs and back with it. It was supposed to reduce fever. And I'll never forget the horrible taste of children's chewable Tylenol....yuck! I can remember one time taking it, and my dad standing in front of me saying, "Honey, just pretend it is flavored cherry or grape or banana...." Of course, I just continued to complain....

Well, wee one is ready to have her hair done for school, and I must take the dog to the vet for his re-check. Oh, and the Directv guy will be here today to replace our dish so that we are able to receive local channels. Hooray! No more lugging my little tv from room to room when I want to watch my "stories" while sewing! LOL....have a great one!

The 64-pack was like a treasure when I was a kid! I can't wait to buy my daughter her first one, even though they've taken out some of my favorite colors:(

Seems to me that you came up with a really good story. I enjoyed it, but then I'm easily entertained. hahaha  Hugs Lanny

You wrote a beautiful entry. Miss ReadmeReadyou would give me those same sort of alcohol rub downs when I didn't feel good. My kids hated it. So I stopped giving them. I loved it. Always was so refreshing. I used to hate the gold and silver crayons...and I would wonder why they even put them i the box...now I know why...my little friend Sherry in Indiana liked them. : )

I'm showing my age when I say we didnt have chewable Tylenol when I was little. It was St. Josephs Baby Aspirin and they tasted great, orange. Oh I still love to color but the crayons have to be new.

OMG--I remember those days!  I loved my parents' bed, as my kids love ours, now.  What great memories!  Here's something gross--I had a lot of sore throats as a child, and my mom would make me use "Sucrets" throat lozenges.  I HATED them!  When she would leave the room, I would take them out of my mouth and stick them underneath the bed.  I had quite a collection by the time I reached puberty--LOL!  We still laugh about that one.  Love, Kim :o)

You're a hoot.  I'm glad you're getting Direct TV--that would drive me crazy carting a tv around to watch local shows...

Aww a trip down memory lane. My mom use to give me sucrets too and hated those and also that Chlorospetic throat spray, ewww! But nothing is better than chicken noodle soup, watching cartoons and snuggling up in your parents bed. Thanks for the trip :)

I always love when my three crawl up in bed with me and we start talking, sharing our day.

You should pick up a nice coloring book and some fresh crayons to keep just for yourself.  I do this sometimes to relieve stress.  My boys love it when I give them a picture that I colored just for them.  Take care! ~Erin

Reflecting on old days is great!  I love coloring books and crayons to this day.  My daughter will every now and then request a coloring book, despite being 15 and I have to admit I will sometimes sneak in and color a page or two.  I guess that's the child within me still.
