General Friday Chit-Chat....

Congratulations are in order for two of the finest in our group of journalists....KAREN and MONICA have made the "editors pick top 5 list" this week. WooHoo~Homer Simpson style to you guys....you deserved it! What a way to start the weekend.

This morning I ran to the store to purchase some "Kashi" cereal. I have been reading that it is supposed to be some highly nutritious cereal, with high fiber which means slower digestion, which of course means you are not "supposed" to be hungry for a long time afterward. So, I rush into the store, grab my box, rush home and pour a bowl, splash on some fat free milk, take a bite....and, let's face it folks, I could have eaten packing peanuts and gotten the same taste sensation. The taste is reminiscent of Puffed Rice....but stale. The sad thing? I ate it within 2 minutes. I was so happy to be eating something that seemed normal, I didn't care that I was eating styrofoam soaked in watered down milk. Now that, my friends, is pathetic. So far I'm not hungry, but it's only been 10 minutes. I am waiting until Tuesday, my official "one week" day to weigh myself. If I haven't lost anything....I'm going to be one mad mother. My oldest says I've been rather snappy lately, and when my uncle came over to check out the boat yesterday, he said, "John has told me what a pleasure it is to come home to you now that you are on this diet." ::snicker:: Well, Mr. Smartypants, I'd like to see YOU try it....

Well, it is time for me to get going on my Friday cleaning. I've got sewing, ironing and an assignment yet to do today....the fun NEVER ends around here!

I rushed out and bought that same cereal .. I couldn't eat it ... my cats won't touch it ~ the first 'human' food they won't eat. I'm only crabby on my diet when my kids are around me, when someone is eating around me, when the moon is shining, when the sun is shining, when it's rainy ... mmm, did I miss anything there? :)
Smilin Mon (yeah, the smile is fake while dieting ... ya got the truth!!!)

I LOVE Karen's journal--sometimes I feel like we're living the same life! I'll have to check out Monica's. I had to give up cereal (one of my favorite foods in the world) because it's loaded with carbs. I hope you find one you can stomach! Love, Kim

Yummmm, packing peanuts. I don't think I will be rushing out to by that cereal, although I've seen it in the store. Diets are so hard, especially with kids around. I wish you the best of success!

Are we all on diets here? LOL I've tried that cereal before too... yuck! It's absolutely awful. I've been seeing some gorgeous cardinals down here too. I love them and I always make a wish when I see one. ~Melissa

I commented in your journal early this morning but I guess it didn't go through. I've been having some trouble when I go to comment and press save. Anyway...just the name Kashi doesn't excite me too much. Sorry you're having so much trouble with the diet. It's always hard at the beginning. Hang in there. And you are too sweet for mentioning me...thanksssssssssssssssssssss-the goddess and potential head angel

Hey Sherry, try the Kashi that you cook. It's in health food stores if your grocery store doesn't carry it. You can have it as a hot cereal, a side dish or it's really, really yummy in soups. It's bland too but you can spice it up a lot better than the dry cereal.
PS I stayed away from the bookcases while cleaning today, LOL :-)

Hey I have some of those packing peanuts, you know the styrofoam ones? Maybe you can put them in your jello, like a fruit salad!

I think everyone is crabby when they're withdrawing from carbs. And is IS withdrawl!!! Hang on...it really does get easier.
