We ended up taking the girls to the mall Saturday night so Betsy could get an outfit for the concert. Oh joy....off to Hot Topic we go. She ended up getting a relatively nice pair of pants....no hooks, chains, studs....just plain brown pants with red stitching. They look like you could buy them in a normal store....the shirt she wanted, which was not bad either, was a black tee with three silver safety pins on the front. However, they did not have it in her size, so she will have to find something else to wear on top. All in all I'm happy with her choice. Never thought I'd say that coming out of that store! LOL....
The rest of the weekend was quiet, church, grocery shopping and frozen pizza for dinner. Lazy Sunday all the way. We had thought about taking London to the beach, but Betsy had to work all day and she really wanted to see her on her first trip to the ocean. Next weekend is supposed to be nice, so we will take her then. Actually, the wholeweek is supposed to be nice. 64 tomorrow and then up to 84 by Friday.
Tomorrow is the last freaking day of the FCATS. Thank God! Wee one was not looking forward to the science part today. On the way to school she said, "I don't like how it's called the FCATS. It's like taking the 'failure'-CATS." LOL....kinda sad when the kids equate a stupid standardized test with failing. I remember when I was a kid. We had the "ISTEP's" in Indiana. You know what the biggest fear we as kids had? Making sure we had a "#2 pencil". Yes, you were told over and over that you must have a #2 pencil. #1 will not work, #3 will not work....and you better have a backup because NO ONE will be allowed to get up to sharpen their pencils and annoy the class. You always hoped you were sitting next to someone who had one of those little, personal pencil sharpeners, just in case. Boy, those were the days!
Okay, I'm off to finish my laundry....3 loads down, one to go!

the back yard looks great! what a great idea...no mowing I love it!
Here in Indiana the are still the ISEP tests you take them in middle school and then again when you are in 10th grade you have to pass them to graduate but yeah I rember being more worried about the #2 pencil also. Makes me feel bad about all the pressure they put on kids now.

Deb
Your yard turned out wonderful. I may have to do that to part of my backyard. Have a great week.

Have a good week.

The yard looks great!! Hmmm...now you are giving me some idea's!! Wanna come and do my yard now? Well...there is still snow on the ground...but how bout this summer? We have very little humidity here!! :) LOL
Hope Wee-One survives her tests!
*hugs*
We still have those ISTEPs up here! There is a lot more pressure on the kids now than having a #2 pencil. I'm sure Wee One will do well; I know she'll be breathing a sigh of relief by now!

Beautiful yard! Great job. You should have your own T.V. show about keeping your home and yard spotless. :) Wish I could be like you for at least one entire day...
I must say that I love looking at your landscaping. I love the Florida, considering I live in Nebraska and have to continuely mow!!! We have one of the largest yards in our town and there are many days were your backyard would be very welcome!!! Michele
WOW, that looks so nice!!! Can I hire you both to do our backyard?! I have wanted my hubby to do the same thing to an area of ours and it's been 5 years. Still not done. I have the plastic though, it's in the garage just waiting! LOL! My kids have just started their CT Mastery Tests and they go on for 3 weeks! Matthew is sick and he is freaking out because they told the kids to come in and take the tests no matter what because it sets them behind if they have to do makeups. You know what? He isn't going to school with a fever, so too bad for them!
Hugs and love,
Lisa
I'm sick of those test too. They didn't have those fcats in jax when i went to school. It was SAT & MLST. And mine was the same as yours. The #2 pencil was the must have and the only everone worried about. And those tests weren't cramed down your throat either. AMEN to them being over tomorrow.... I tell ya if Jeb bush ever stood in front of me i sure would have a thing or 2 to tell him about his "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND " crap.
My boys love hot topic. Angel gets scared in there... Last time we were in there they had a 50% off shirts.. My boys were in hog heaven.
Your yard looks beautiful... I hope to be working in mine soon. I'm glad it going to be nice this weekend, but then again i'm a true floridian. I hate the cold.
Take care :-)
The landscaping looks great...
I can't wait till it warms up enough here
for us to start working in ours!
Hugss..~Terri~
Wow! You guys did a great job on your backyard! My husband would have taken at least 2wks to get that amount of work accomplished. I'm looking forward to getting our yard back in shape and planting some new plants come the beginning of April.
I'm glad the FCAT's are just about over for your 'Wee One'. My daughter is getting ready to take the PSSA's (Pennsylvania) at the end of March. I wonder if her teacher mentioned it to the students? My daughter hasn't asked me about it and I haven't mentioned them, on purpose, because I don't want her to stress about it. This is her first year taking them, so I'm not sure how she will react.
Like you, my biggest worry was if I had enough sharpened #2 pencils on hand.
Beautiful landscaping!! You guys did a great job!
My backyard needs SOOO much help. We can't grow grass because the dogs running (and skidding...LOL) keep tearing everything up! Now I have all of this dirt and it's getting brought into the house everyday. I can't stand it!!! I don't know what I'm going to do with all of it, but I want to have a big graduation/18th birthday/good luck in college party for my daughter out back in August!
My girls both LOVE that Hot Topic store. That place scares me (lol!!!) DD14 actually found a pair of flat, black shoes in there (with a little bow and white stars) and she wants to wear them with her black and white cotillion gown (hey, she wore flip flops with her 8th grade graduation gown!) but they only had size 10. We looked online and they don't have them. We have to hit a different mall this weekend and see if we can find them in a different Hot Topic.
It's supposed to get close to 70 here in NJ this weekend. I am SOOOO excited!!! (LOL)

The yard looks great!! That was a good idea-we have an area on the far side of the pool that is is shaded most of the day and that nothing will grow. We may have to look into paving or rocking it in!
I hope Wee One is all done with the FCATS and that things are back to normal for you all!
Gillie
Your backyard looks really good and bonus on no more mowing there :) I love going to Lowe's to get the plants and veggies.
Justin has his standardized tests next month.
80s here after tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it :)
Gretchen
Cat's just love when things are cleaned up. They love a tidy area to rest and enjoy. I really can't believe you guys did that in two hours. You two Rock! Literally! LOL

Wow! You guys really do rock!! You've really inspired me! My yard looks like... well... it's so bad that I can't use the word here on your nice clean journal! I think I'll make my yard landscaping my spring break project! And it's great exercise too! Martha :-)
