Thanksgiving Friday....

Yesterday we had our restaurant dinner for Thanksgiving. It was okay. John and I had chicken fried chicken which was excellent....everyone else had the turkey dinner which was - cold, hard, and icky. Those were the adjectives used to describe it by my girls and my mom, lol. So today, I made the dinner that we missed. Turkey, stuffing, green bean casserol, broccoli and cheese casserol, sweet potatoes and homemade cranberry sauce. Everyone loved it....and I have to admit, it was pretty good! We have pies in the fridge, but everyone is too stuffed to eat them.

Today was also decorating day. John and wee one went out at 8:30 and came in at 3:00. They got the front yard done....1500 lights in the big tree, icicle lights along the roof and the two reindeer, candy cane lights along the walkway, and little spiral white tree. They both said they were too tired to do the back yard, so they will attempt that tomorrow. JB mowed and trimmed probably for the last time until February. I put up the dining room tree and decorated that room, Betsy put up her tree, I did the living room and the kitchen. Tomorrow I'll put up the family tree....I'm too exhausted to even think about it right now.

Tomorrow night we have the wedding for someone at work. It's also the same night as the parade of lights along the river, which means it will be super crowded. I am still not sure what I'm going to wear.  Oh well....I'll figure it out tomorrow.

Okay, I'm off to crash in the bedroom....I hope that everyone had a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving!

Sounds like a really busy day!  We exhausted ourselves too getting our interior decorating done.  Now we're down to the outside lights.  But I always feel such relief when the decorating for the holidays is done and then I enjoy the season so much more.  Yummy, homemade cranberry sauce is delicious!  I made that one year or two a few years back and it was always the best I've ever tasted.  Nothing like the real thing.  I can just see ya'll makin' faces at the turkey at the restaurant.... : )  While you were doing that we were making faces at one of my miserable attempts at a pumpkin pie with some off brand of filling.  The second one turned out much better.  I won't be trying a different brand next year.  Learned my lesson.  Well, hope you have a nice relaxing evening.  Hugs,
Lisa

Sounds like you had a very busy Thanksgiving. I'm a fairly recent transplant out of FL, and boy do I miss it. My neighborhood was beautiful when it was decorated. Too darn cold to do much here! Happy decorating!! Rhonda

When my Grandmas (Mom's mom) was older, we always had to eat with them, and do whatever she wanted. One year for Christmas, she wanted to go to Dennys for xmas dinner.  UGH...............
I love Dennys for breakfast. BUT NOT XMAS DINNER.................
Sometimes I still get upset with my Mother for putting us through all those kinda years and not standing up to her Mom......
Yes....... I guess I have some Issues there.............
But it sounds like "Wee One" enjoyed the festivities ????
Sounds like you did too.

Just goes to show that if you want to be guaranteed a wonderful meal - cook it yourself!

My goodness what a busy time. Is it traditional to put the Christmas decorations up straight after thanksgiving? It's considered early over here on December 1st!! Suddenly I'm feeling more behind and disorganized than ever! LOL
