This morning I woke up and decided I would wash my hair with a really detergent-y (is that a word?) shampoo and see what happened. I ended up with lather that looked like scoops of orange sherbet. I scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed. I had to use two different shampoos....one for the top where the color was so bad, and a medicated one for the back since I must have been allergic to whatever she put on my head, and spent the night scratching my scalp to a lovely shade of crimson. The shampoo made no difference....the color remained. Somewhere between copper penny and prison issue orange. So....I called the salon and thank goodness she was working "on call". I had the receptionist give her a jingle....and two hours later she called me back. I went in and she toned it down quite a bit....and I have to say I'm much happier.
She said that when she was in the back mixing her concoction, she had to use more than last time because my hair was so much longer. The stylist with her told her to double the powder....but she didn't think that she should. They discussed it and for some reason....she decided to go ahead and take the other woman's advice. Whatever....just get the flames off my head! LOL....I will take some pics tomorrow, as I just finished watching Madagascar with dh and wee one, and I was laying down, smooshing my do.
I also re-colored Betsy's hair today. Feria came out with a new product for black hair, that is supposed to lighten it up a few shades. We tried it and while her hair is still darker than her normal color, it looks better. That stuff just was NOT washing out. I told her she is never EVER going to color her hair at home again. EVER. I. MEAN. IT. She is going to have to go in and have a few inches cut off though. It's pretty damaged on the ends now. Is there an over the counter shampoo that works as good as the professional ones? Every time I ask they try to sell me the $26 per bottle stuff. I know it probably is the best....but can't they just tell me what to use if I don't happen to have $26 for freaking shampoo? Melissa? What do you think?
Anyhoo....Madagascar was a really cute movie. I stopped at Target today to pick up the hair color and it was on sale. Wee one watched it this afternoon, then again with us tonight. I made some homemade potato bacon soup and apple cinnamon cookies, and we had a little picnic in the living room. It was soooo freaking good!
Oh, and yes, the girls made it all night out in the tree house! They said it was "awesome" and "so cool". LOL....JB said that was worth all the hours of work....awwww. Listening to the girls chattering away last night was so funny. I heard, "He was TOTALLY looking at you!" "I know he was!" "He is so TOTALLY CUTE!!!!" They are too funny....even Betsy was laughing. All three girls have blonde hair, and they all had pony tails and hoodies on. They are still in the adorable stage, but you can see that puberty is on the horizon! Sheesh....why do they grow up so fast????
That was pretty much our day. Betsy is at her friend's house for the night and tomorrow they are going to a concert. I suppose the three of us will go to church, and then I'd like to go to the store and get some Christmas lights. We are due for some new ones for the outside. Yippee!!!! I found a Santa gnome today....but I didn't buy it. I don't know why. Well, yes, because I got wee one three tops and a pair of pants instead. Maybe next time.
Okay, I'm going to go braid wee one's hair (dear Lord, please let her have brushed it before she got into the tub!), and relax. I got no sleep last night. Well, I did get some sleep but woke up with two numb shoulders from being squished into the corner, and a bout of seasickness from him tossing and turning all night in the tiny little bed. Then he has the audacity to get up and say, "I slept horribly. I should have slept in our bed." Well duhhhhh.....didn't I tell you to do that in the first place? MEN!

$26 for shampoo??? give me a break! Suave/ vanilla scented 99cents in sale!
I color my hair all the time at home and have since I was 15! I am only 23, but still. Black is the hardest color in the world to get out. They never really wash out, just part of the way. I dye my hair to the season. Like right now it is a dark red/purple kind of color. In the summer I go with blonde or light brown. They sell a toner at Sally's. It is suppose to take out all the color that you have done to your hair. I wasn't all that impressed with it. At home I use Therma Silk. I seem to do good with it. I just moved to Oklahoma from California. The humidy took my hair for a ride. It sounds like the girls had a lot of fun. I would love to be a part of your family.

Pantene makes a good shampoo for colored hair and its not 26 dollars good night nurse highway robbery lol
Deb
Biolange is good. Prell shampoo will take out die. What color is your hair now.
I can't wait to see pics. I think all of us has had a bad experience with hair dye.
I go to someone who is very good with color, so I am sticking with her.
I colored my hair black before (recently - if you remember the About Me picture change) and the black WILL come out.... ColorZap, usually found at Sally Beauty Supply. They have other brands there, but I used the ColorZap. It didn't damage my hair at all.... I just used that and then recolored it the color that I wanted that time, which was a dark red....
....and I use Pantene usually, but I splurge every once in a while and buy the stuff from the salon....Humectant or some such... cuz my hair gets dry easily...
...glad you were able extinguish your scalp! :)

i would love to be part of your family too. debbie
Y'all were crazy to spend the night in the twin bed. But I told you that last night! Sorry about your coloring woes. Hope it gets better.

I use tressamae its use to be in the salaons. it works great. I cant wait to see your hair in the pics. soudns like your girls had a wonderful time. WHen we dye at home the ONLY dye we can use is Revelon or it never comes out right.
Well, I use Biolage ColorCare, which is around $13 a bottle. If the shop runs out and I really need shampoo, I use L'oreal ColorVive. It's $3-4 a bottle. LOL DO NOT EVER USE PANTENE ANYTHING. It strips alllll the natural oils from your hair which will make it look nice, at first, then it damages it to all hell. There is some shampoo called Back To Basics, works beautifully, around $10. It smells great. I especially like the Vanilla Plum and something Almond. LOL I love talking about hair stuff.
Soooo, I'm happy she fixed it for you and you like how it turned out.
Those girls sound so cute. I love listening in on their conversations too. You never know what will come out of their mouths :)~Melissa
I have pretty much destroyed my brunette locks going all platinum blond over here in this corner... but I wanted to do something drastic. I use every conditioner and shampoo for color treated hair known to man that will make my hair healthy again. I use the Paul Mitchell stuff, TresSomme, and the Biolage whenever I have extra money and rotate buying them. The Alberto v-5 is great stuff, and the rebuilding ones at Walmart for color damaged hair... the Aussie one. In the purple bottle. I have to say the TresSomme conditioner is to die for. Really helps. I heard it's even good to put oil on your hair, like the hair treatment hot oil and just sit around and let it soak in your hair. Like I have time to do that though?! Maybe I will soon though as I am still trying to revitalize. I colored six times or more in one weekend to get my blond locks. It was so terribly hard on my hair. It's come a long way though since that weekend but I still have work to do on it. Hugs,
Lisa
Glad to hear wee ones sleepover was a success! I use biolage for my colored hair.. its pricey but not to bad.. my sister swears by the shampoo by color stuff ,, blonde for blondes.. brunette for brunette... etc.. I want to see madagascar!! Justin thinks im nuts lol. I got kicked out of my bed last night by a 4 yr old and slept on the loveseat..my 5 yr old was on the couch OUCH! lol.
ah sherry why didn't you take pictures of the orange highlights? I wanted to see them. LOL I'm glad it's fixed and can't wait for those pictures. I swear by 99cents a bottle it's just like biolage shampoo. Although the biolage is better much better and saved my brittle breaking hair thanks to melissa...the suave is better for my budget but I still use the biolage once a week. your daughter and her friends must be a hell of a lot tougher and braver than the group I had at my house that night...and I was so pissed off too when they all came in the house..it was about 10 girls and 4 boys in my sons tent..all in the house very annoying. Yes they do grow up way to freakin' fast....heartbreaking..but yes cute..very cute.
I'm glad your hair color is more to your liking. Cant wait to see pics of it.As far as a good shampoo,do you have a Sally's Beuaty Supply in down there. If you do,go there and get something. They have all kinds of products at good prices. The sleepover sounds like a hit.But too bad hubby had to sleep with you.LOL. Hugs,Kim
That's great that the hairdresser redid your hair for you! I should have called mine, but I didn't want to go back I was so angry. I am coloring at home from now on. I just buy my color at Sally's and do it that way, much cheaper! I don't know what product you can use on Betsy's hair, but I have been using the Pantene Brunette line and the conditioner is WONDERFUL and smells so nice! Glad the girls made it all night long in the treehouse. I bet they felt safe up there off of the ground. And, DH did end up sleeping with you in the little bed huh? Awwwww, that is just too cute! :)
Hugs and love,
Lisa
