At least she kept all four wheels on the ground this time....

Which law is it that says if anything can go wrong, it will? Ahhhh yes, Murphy's law....

So this evening Betsy was getting ready to leave for work. We bid her farewell, and I continued on making dinner. Two seconds later she walks back into the house and says those four words no parent wants to hear...."I hit the mailbox." Her father responded with, "YOU HIT WHAT????" We went outside and were greeted with the above picture. Now, you see how the van was parked, and where the mailbox is. How she managed to do this is beyond reason. I'm guessing the radio station needed to be changed, or perhaps she got a call on her cell. She swears she was "not doing anything", so I guess we will never know.  She is not even finished with her payments on the new tires and rims....that girl is going to be paying us off for years!

Oh, and here's the kicker....when she got to work she found out they had given her the wrong schedule. She is off tonight. After finding that out, John didn't want the dinner I cooked. He opted for Prilosec and Jack Daniels instead.

And so....tomorrow we will be taking our beloved van to a body shop for an estimate. I'm guessing at least $900 if not more.  She got the bumper, the light and the quarter panel. If nothing else when doing a job, she does it thoroughly!

This is one of those things you're going to laugh about in a few years.  I'm laughing now, but you know.... it isn't happening to me.  Yet.  omg...yet.

Poor Betsy...I bet she was terrified to come in and say she wrecked the car again. I haven't let my daughter drive yet...for this reason....I am sure she would be doing the same thing!

Is this what I get to look forward to in 4 years?  My niece destroyed her car and she swears to my sister that she wasn't doing anything when it happened. Her cell phone flew out the window so my sister is pretty sure she was on it at the time. I think I am with your hubby, I better stock up on Prilosec and Jack Daniels. LOL Have a good evening. Hugs

Oh man!!!  I am thankful I live HERE and am not driving on the roads in Florida!  LOL!  I know there are plenty drivers worse than Betsy and afterall, she only hit YOUR mailbox (which is very nice I might add, love the brick overlay).  She better get a really good paying job one of these days.
Hugs and love,

Oh goodness!  I can remember just getting my license and going to the mall with friends.  I was backing up and somehow my bumper got stuck on another cars bumper.  I was scared to death. Two of the boys I was with helped me get my car unhooked.

I did like my Dad always told me, I left my insurance info on the other car since the owner never came out and when I got home I walked in crying and handed my parents my license.

Little did I know one of the boys I was with took my note off the other car and my parents didn't really get mad.  I think they figured I was so scared that was punishment enough.  I refused to park a car for like 6 months after that.

Sherry, how wonderful to have you back!!  That's all we wanted.....just a little update now and then.  So, Betsy had another wee accident eh?  That girl must have you tearing your hair out!  At least she wasn't hurt though, that's the main thing.  Well done to Hayley on her artwork, she has some talent for a girl her age, both the painting and the pinch-pot were beautiful.
Hope your leg keeps healing....still looks sore to me!
Big hugs,

OH no!!!  I am sorry to hear about the damages and secretly wishing for the impossible ....that my children will skip the driving years and just suddenly know how to do it.  Of course we probably will have to wrap ourselves in bubble wrap just to drive down the street.  We have boys over here.  Hugs,

At least Betsy is okay.   Maybe she accidently turned the steering wheel without
realizing it.  Perhaps the van is too much car for her to be driving.
