Pineapples, chips and other things....

I posted the pics of the pineapple plant....as I got lots of requests to see it! It really is amazing....I've never seen a pineapple plant either. John's friend told us to cut the top off of one and then plant it in a pot. I did, not expecting anything. He told us that it would take about three years....and he was right! I can't wait to see how big it gets. I will keep track with pictures in my journal and we can all watch it grow!

Yesterday I mentioned that wee one and I bought Jays chips at Big Lots. Well, I received an e-mail from a friend who also lives in Florida (with roots in Chicago), and she said they have them there too....and that people are filling their carts with them! LOL....my family has been thoroughly enjoying her stories, and the fact that we are able to buy them now. Funny how something as simple as a chip can occupy our minds for two days! I love it though....

Speaking of Chicago....my Cubbies kicked butt last night! They beat Florida 6-3. They were down 0-3 in the 8th, and came back with three runs and a three run homer....I was off my feet, and had to catch my laptop that slid off my lap! LOL....I was thrilled to say the least. I've been walking with my Cubs hat on every day....so I guess my routine will not be changing....because you know it's the hat that is doing it! LOL....

Ahhh, I hear the delightful sounds of wee one....yelling that I need to come in and help her with her hair for school! LOL....I guess that is my cue that it's time to get off my butt and get some things done. Enjoy the day!!!!

Hey Sherry,

I live in Florida too, so I had to comment. First, I had no clue you could grow a pineapple like that!! Now I'm bummed because we must have eaten 8 pineapples in the past coupla months and I threw the tops out. Never again. I'm planting them!

As for jasmine, OMG, my entire chain link fence is covered in jasmine (you can't see the chain link) and we have TONS of it blooming. Every year, I can't wait till April because it smells soooooo awesome and perfume-like every time I walk out the door or sit outside! Glad to know someone else shares that with me!!!

I'm gonna have to go to Big Lots today to see if I can find some of those chips. I've heard of them, but I'm from Boston, not Chicago. Gotta try 'em!!

Have a good one,
Carol

That pineapple is pretty cool.  Water it lots so the pineapple is really juicy.  Your yard is beautiful.

Hi Sherry.....thank you for the sweet comment you left for me. I'm back!
Great photographs, I absolutely love pineapples but never realised you could grow your own - will definitely be giving it a bash.  I adore crisps (as we call potatochips here) so I know how exciting it is to find a kind you love!  ;o)

Hee.... I love gnomes too.  We have a neighbor cat who always comes over and rubs up on the one I have by the front porch.  Obviously, they have a special relationship.  LOL

That pineapple plant is amazing!!  I didn't know that's how you grow a pineapple! I can't wait to see pics of it as it grows.  The Jasmine is beautiful!  I love the smell too!  But, be careful that London doesn't get into any of it.  I had a doggie that ate some of my Jasmine and it apparently is poisonous.  I don't know if London takes a nibble off of a plant now and then, but make sure she doesn't take a nibble off that one.
I love your backyard!!!  Just beautiful!
