The voters have spoken and the clear winner is....Golden Retriever! LOL....I somehow knew that was going to be the outcome....so now, the search is on to find the perfect brother or sister for London. There are two younger dogs on the rescue site at the moment. One is a girl who is 90% Golden, the other 10% is most likely yellow lab. She was poisioned and after a few weeks with medical attention, she is doing well. The other is an 18 month old boy, who's owner had to give him up due to a "life change". It says that he is on the "docile side", which sounds good to me! LOL....I'm not sure about such a big age difference though. Any advice would be helpful and appreciated....
Right now I'm in the middle of cleaning. I changed some things around on my desk and I have to say, I like it. I haven't moved things around for a while....it always relaxes me when I re-organize....
Betsy is walking with a bit of a limp lately....I tell ya, she never ceases to make me laugh. She is 100% teenager....moody, emotional, sure she knows more than her parents....that is, until she is knocked down, literally, back to reality. I was sitting at my desk, surfing the web and trying to relax when I heard her in the kitchen. She was getting ready for bed, filling her glass with ice water. I have two baby gates up in the kitchen, to block London's access to the dining room and living room at night. Now, these gates have been here since we got London, and we have all be stepping over them for 3 months. I don't know what happened....but all of a sudden I hear a crash, then a second crash, a splash of spilling water and then a string of obscenities. Apparently she had stepped over the gate, only to catch her foot on a wire basket I have next to it and from there it was all a blur. I shot out of my seat to find her sprawled out on the floor, clutching her foot, the gate on the floor, her glass and it's contents laying in front of her. Did I ask her if she was okay? Sure I did....after I stopped laughing. I couldn't help it! I was laughing so hard I was crying....now, before you condem me for being a horrible mother, she was laughing as well. She ended up with a numb toe for a day and a bit of a limp....but other than that she is okay.
Today is another early release day for the kids, which means I will have them home an hour earlier than usual. It's probably a good thing since wee one has a huge amount of math homework to get through. She is struggling a bit with it, and our one on one time really helps. Of course, they are pushing the FCAT again, so there is some more added stress to the pile. Oh joy. I had better get her nerve medication refilled, not to mention her zantac....when she looks back on her school years, I highly doubt she will consider them "the best years of your life". It's a shame how kids can't even be kids anymore....but that is a rant for another entry.
This morning I felt so good....getting an early start, getting my cleaning done quicker than usual. Of course, sitting here I have written this entry, answered phone calls, walked the dog twice....I have used up all of my early start and am now behind. Figures. Okay, I'm outta here....have a good one!

I feel bad that your daughter tripped over the gate, but it's sounds like it would have been a funny sight! LOL

Hi Sherry,
That is awesome about getting another new doggie. I hope you find just the right one. My list today includes finding my desk and I hope I decide to get something on my list done... there's filing and closets to clean out... and finding my desk is high on the agenda. Yes, you are right, kids can't just be kids these days. All of this pressure to keep up with China I guess. I would be most interested in hearing more of your viewpoints on that because we are swamped with homework over here and my children are so little for all this homework. It's just ridiculous. We have almost zero family life because of the school system. It really stinks. Hugs,
Lisa
I SO feel Betsy's pain. I've tripped over the baby gate we had up for Gordo so many times I really am surprised nothing has been broken....
'Docile' sounds good....I wish mine would take a lesson in chillin' from the other dog... :-D I don't know how many times a day, I yell 'Will you setlle down!'

glad you chose another golden, the only problem is which one to choose, rather you than me............Jules x

Hi Sherry, just to quickly answer your "sausage" question, I would use the breakfast sausage as that's mainly what we use over here. I do use a flavoured one sometimes so the Italian one would be yummy - let me know how it turns out, whichever one you choose :-)
I'm so happy for you getting another puppy, but wish you luck choosing just ONE !! I don't like having to leave one behind LOL.
Glad Betsey's ok, I must admit I had to smile, as I've seen my girls (and me for that matter) do similiar loads of times.......
Take care, speak soon
Love Debbie xx

Another Golden it is then! I can't believe you laughed at Betsy! I thought I was the only one who did things like that. I feel bad for Wee one and can relate. My son is home sick and sitting here working on a 3 inch high stack of work that he missed from last week including 2 more projects and all this with the darn FCATs coming up too. Poor kids! Hope you have a good day :-)
Personally I prefer females to male doggies.
Females are smarter for sure & more obedient.
I also think females are a "cleaner" bunch:)
On the other hand I don't think 18 months is much of an age
difference to matter. But that's just me.
Boys are good but I like girl doggies better.
You asked;0)

well you know me I ahve dogs that are 14, 9 , 5 , 2 and now 3 months. as far as age four months for london and 18 months on the boy are not bad at all. you need a docile dog and a hpyer one. that is a good match. at 18 months he still has plenty of play and like I say if ou already have a girl a boy is much better to go with to keep the alpha scenario from raising its ugly head. now I ll go back and finish reading
teen brains just dont seem to get very far do they lol ???????? Yeah we laugh at our kids maladies too. of course they laugh at me too. YOU KNOW I I think it would be neat if you did an out line of how you do your cleaning in what order and what you do. like when you do baseboards I think it might help others if we share and might encourage as IM having a big o trouble getting motivated to clean . that is exactly why I tool Rachael otu of school do you know she use to run down sliding on her knews when her papers were graded and start praying !!!!!!!!!! I mean fervently!!!!!! YUP############ she litterally prayed in a sweat. I had to get her home and relaxed the child was always puking she was always having a head ache. I just could not take it anymore . SO she homes chooled we focused on how she is suppoes to be learing and making mistakes and its okay. HOW she can relax and she was not in competiton with anyone. She had her field trips and gatherings iwth kids so she did nto miss out but no more stress and medicines. POOR THING I feel for wee one. I been there done that.
How did I miss the freakin vote? LOL I don't think the older dog is a good idea. Don't know just that I feel if you are going to have it turn out the way you want you have to raise it yourself from the beginning. Dog rescuers from all over please don't email me. Just an opinion. LOL
How betsy fell is how big R broke Ellies ankle <I assume> from tripping over the gate. Poor Betsy!
I like reorganizing stuff too. Fun!
Maybe if the schools stayed open all day every school day so the kids had more time to work in the classroom, they wouldn't need to do so much homework. "School Closings" are a regular feature of the morning newscast around here--even when there is no good reason to close. Last weekend, they predicted "as nuch as 8 inches" of snow for Monday morning. We actually got one inch that melted as soon as it hit the ground, but there were still umpteen school closings announced Monday morning. That happens a lot. It really does seem excessive.
Another Golden is a good choice I think. Don't know if you're planning to neuter or spay, but that's something to think about if you decide on a male. Unless, of course, you want even more!
I would have laughed at Betsy too-so we can be horrible mothers together! :)

Have fun choosing a little brother/sister for London. Poor Betsy! Thomas was cleaning out a closet last week and I stepped over a tackle box, got my toe caught and was limping for a while too! I sympathize with Wee One, too, and you Mom! I know what you mean. Eler Beth does better when I can give her some one on one time, too, and yes, let's not get started on those standardized tests!
