What a weekend....

And so, our weekend started off good....we had a special seminar at church on Saturday from 9-4. It was called "Walk Through the Old Testament". It was a hoot! We learned all about the old testament through hand signs and stories. It was a great way to familiarize yourself with the somewhat difficult parts of the gospel. When we were finished, we had learned 77 hand signals, as did all of the kids. From pre-school to high school the kids learned them as well and let me say....I was totally impressed! I had to watch the pastor to remember what came next, but these kids had it down pat. They were so cute....and it wasn't easy things like "God, Jesus, etc." it was remembering stories chronologically with key words and signals like "Assyria-Israel-Scatter, Babylonia-Judah-Exile....". These kids were amazing. Heck, John gave up somewhere around 57! LOL....It was a great day of meeting new people and being in fellowship....

By the time I got home, however, my cold had definately kicked in and I spent the next 24 hours in bed. Actually, I've already napped today! I did, however, bake some cookies and help wee one with two hours of homework yesterday. Why is it that when I get sick, someone remembers they have homework that is due Monday, they've had it since Friday, and they have no idea how to do it???? Sheesh. My laundry that is clean and folded is still on the table....no one took the hint and put it away. Oh, and of course the baskets are full again of dirty clothes. Hey, I'm counting myself lucky that they actually put the clothes in the baskets, and didn't leave them for me to pick up myself.

I didn't watch the Superbowl until the end....and was quite happy to see Pittsburgh win! John went to a Superbowl party with a few guys from work, but came home at half time. He isn't a sports guy, but it was one of those things that you sort of "have" to do when you are in management. He didn't enjoy himself, but he got a free dinner....which was much more than he would have gotten here, me being sick! The girls got chicken noodle soup and I got a roast beef sandwich on a stale bun. Oh yum....

So far today has been much better. Hmmmm, I wonder if the fact that I'm gloriously and blissfully ALONE has anything to do with it? I was at my wits end last night between arguing with Betsy, studying with wee one at 9:00, and JB worrying about a class that starts today. I finally broke down and cried for a good half hour. I must have made an impact because Betsy apologized, wee one made me a card with a picture of a heart and a needle and thread that said, "sorry I broke your heart, let me stitch it up for you", and JB walked the dog. I did feel better afterward....although my eyes are still swollen today.

Well, dh just called and it's the usual at work....I'm not going to even go into it. I will tell you though that my blood pressure just took a hefty spike. I tell ya....it's getting harder and harder to look on the positive side of things.

Well, on that totally depressing note....I shall bid you adieu. I think I'll go take a shower. Maybe that will help. Who knows.

Aren't you glad I updated?

Oh, wait! One piece of good news! Martha is back....old-school journalers will remember her and her story of the Pelican who annointed her husband's head with....well, let's just say it wasn't oil! Stop by and say hi....

Nothing upsets me more than when my son leaves studying for a test till 11pm the night before and I know he played all day long and could have done it. Or the same with homework.
Thought that was great you took your family to that special day at church. You are a great mommy! Wish someone would take care of you when you need it though. But that's the story of all moms....nobody cares about us. LOL

Sounds as though someone could use a vacation, LOL, or at least a day at a Spa or something. Those colds can knock you for a loop. I hope it lets up.

That hand-signal thing sounds so interesting, I'd like to see if they might do it here at my Church. You and JB did well! 57 isn't anything to sneeze at! (bad pun, sorry)

Hope you get some extra peace-time before the day is out!

Sounds like my house when I'm ill LOL That's if I dare risk it at all of course! Glad to hear you're feeling better now though and your day out at church sounded great. We don't seem to have anything like that here.

Awwww, (((Sherry))). I just arrived in J land and find you sick and depressed! :-( Although there was that GREAT news about me being back at least, ROFLMAO!!

I insist that tomorrow you spend the day watching soaps, playing on the computer, eating Bon Bons and drinking international coffee! (or go for a massage, buy a new outfit and out for Margaritas!!). It sounds like you really need a break! Hey, now that I think about it I'm sick and also need a break - where shall we meet? :-)

Hee-hee, my father had that happen when we went to Florida way back when too!  Too funny!  Sorry you weren't feeling well this weekend.  I hope some alone time made you feel all better!!  I hate when my hubby is having a rough time at work and tells me about it.  I want to go there and give them ALL a piece of my mind!
Hugs and love,
Lisa

We really do need to go back to church.  I have one picked out for us to try that is close to home and we are out of sync from working 6 and 7 days sometimes.  We took a break from attending a church that was too large and are hoping to find a little bit of a smaller one so we can get to know more people in Florida.  Hope you feel better soon. Hugs,
Lisa
