It's Sunday night and I have a confession to make....I haven't watched DH for the past 3 weeks. I don't know what it is....this season seems quite lackluster. Susan's antics are getting stale, I'm sick of watching Gabby and Edie walk around with their size 0 butts hanging out of barely there outfits, (and no I'm not jealous....yeah, sure). Even Bree is not holding my attention like she used to. Sigh....another good show that jumped the shark way too soon....
Speaking of tv, I have to say that when I signed on to AOL and saw that Don Knotts had died, I was a bit teary eyed. Every day at 12:30 I listen to Andy Griffith as I clean. I grew up with Barney....Fife, not the dinosaur....my dad loved him. Funny but when I saw he had passed on, it brought back memories of my dad whistling along with the theme song and laughing heartily at the antics of Barn and the Mayberry gang....rest in peace Officer Fife....
We have had company for the past week. Well, my mother has had company, but we have had the pleasure of enjoying them as well. My father's cousin and her husband have been here, enjoying the Florida, well, rain. They drove down from Indiana last weekend expecting fun in the sun. They got fun in the drizzle instead. Still, we had a wonderful time. My dad was more of a brother to Brenda than a cousin. Her daughter was born on my birthday when I was five. I remember the day clearly....I was sitting on the step of our back porch and my mom was next to me on the phone. She was laughing and said, "I knew you would have her on Sherry's birthday!" Funny the things you remember as a kid. Anyway, we enjoyed dinners together, shopping and reminicing. On Friday JB went with Randy to the Kennedy Space Center for the day. They had a wonderful time. They were like two kids getting to go to an amusement park! Both of them in their pullovers and baseball caps. It was nice to see JB having a good time for once! They are home now, the visit being way too short, but I'm thankful for the time we spent together.
The picture of London was taken the night they came to dinner at our house. Mom made the cake and after serving it, I set it on the counter. Obviously London smelled it and spent the next 30 minutes peering over the counter, barking at it! It was hysterical. She would bark for a few minutes, then stop and come over to me, then go back and bark again. We were all hysterical when we figured out what she was doing. She would come over and look at me like, "Hey! I'm standing over here waiting for this cake....quit talking and start cutting!" LOL....
Saturday and today were spent helping wee one and her friend get their "invention convention" project finished. Of course wee one is in the only class where this is mandatory. Just what she needs with FCAT's this week and her struggling in math. Finally on Saturday she laid in my lap and sobbed, saying the stress was getting to be too much. She begs me to homeschool her. I am at my wits end with this school system. So much so that we are contemplating moving over the summer so that she can start middle school in a better district. I have to do something....
Well, it's 8:30 and I need to finish up my work. I was at the library today with the girls and while waiting (for 2 1/2 hours) started reading a book....it is wonderful! I randomly picked it off the shelf and it is set in....oh yeah....England! LOL. I checked it out being that I got through half of it, and can't wait to finish the rest. It's been so long since I've been able to just sit and read....nighty night!

I am so with you on DH. It's not nearly as good as last season.
Poor wee one, hopefully things will be able to change for her school wise. It's sad that schools put so much pressure on kids today.
That's so cute about London!! We just got tucker and he has already started making his demands known. At 9 weeks old to boot, I have a feeling we are going to be in for it with this one.
What's the book? I need a good one and I know from the past with our love of Dean Koontz that we like the same stuff! :-)
As far as moving goes, I say run as fast as you can!!!!
(((Hugs))) Martha :-)
Here in Colorado at our school district you can change schools its called open enrollment. Hope you can get her in a different school soon:)

I was sad about barny did not realize he was that old either I keep in yong in my mind.
I understand about homeschooling been there done that. Man i hate for you to move. but just move on up here!!!!!!!! WINK WINK> I never read anymore. never have time cept on journals. have a good nights rest.
I am so happy to hear that you are finally all better and back to normal Sherry!!! That pic of London and the cake on the counter is priceless!!! Why didn't you listen Momma? Give him a piece for goodness sake!!! LOL! I am seriously thinking of homeschooling Matthew and Emma and am thisclose to doing it. It's SCARY though!!! I am working with Lori (my78novata) because she homeschooled her two girls and she is helping me in my confidence level. The school system is not for children that get stressed as much as Wee one does or ones like Matthew who really don't give a hoot about anything going on when it comes to learning in a class setting. So glad your visits with the relatives went well too!!
Hugs and love,
Lisa
I believe finding the right school district is the key!! It's very hard. Good Luck!

Yep we lost Don Knotts and Darren Mcgavin over the weekend....
2 very wonderful legends....
Remember Don Knotts's movie, "The ghost and Mr Chicken" ??
and "The Incredible Mr Limpid" ??
Hi Sherry, glad you had a good time with your relatives. Won't tell my mum and dad it's raining in Florida though !!! The pic is great - my cats love cake too LOL. Just out of interest whereabouts in England is your book set and what's it's called ???
Take care, Love Debbie xx

I've been watching DH but I'm with you....disappointed in it. It wasn't on last night, Dancing with the Stars was which rocked, and it won't be on next week due to the Oscars. I must say...I don't think I'll miss it too much and I use to LOVE it!
London is just too cute!
I'm glad you all had a good time with your company :)
Prayers for wee one...they put so much pressure on kids these days in school.

You had a nice, fun, busy week. The London "cake" story was a hoot!
I wonder myself, sometimes, what to do about school. The teaching methods I'm seeing are so far-gone, they've taken on bizarre characteristics. My kids spend so much time with projects...learning how to do them, learning where to buy supplies, that I wonder if they are learning anything!
Good luck with that..I'd like to hear how you follow up.
Jimmy
Reading your journal today. I have to say that Wee one crying in your lap and saying to homeschool her because school is so stressful....brought tears to my eyes. I would probably do the same thing and move to a better school district. Good Luck!
Hi Sherry, just off to work but have been thinking about wee one so upset with school. Kaylee was bullied for a long long time and I too was at my wits end. In the end something inside of Kaylee snapped and she ended up standing up to them and it's more or less stopped now. I know it's different for your wee one, but I'm thinking of you both and hope it sorts itself out soon.
Take care, Love Debbie xx

I was rather sad when I found out Don Knotts and Darren McGavin had died. Some of my earliest memories are of watching that old Night Stalker series with my mom, and watching Three's Company with my grandmom who absolutely adored the show.

Poor Wee one! I just don't remember school being that stressful but we are already dealing with issues in kindergarten!! I hope it all works out!
Great London story! Just like having another kid! :)

Your mom's company left Indiana to visit Florida's rain? Last weekend my sister from St. Augustine came up to Kentucky and brought snow!!
I was said about Don Knotts, too. I still watch Andy Griffith whenever I get the chance, and it's one of those that we go around quoting from all the time. My favorite is, "And little old ladies ought never to clank!" They don't make shows like that anymore and never will, more's the pity!
