I've been hung out to dry....

Why couldn't my dryer just hang on until the last load of laundry was done? Would that be too much to ask? Why do the Downy gods mock me so?

I was really on a roll yesterday....load #5 was being put in the dryer, followed up by #6 going in the washer. I shut the door, turned it on and went into my room to fold. Fast forward 2 minutes I hear a scraping noise coming from the dryer, and the smell of burning metal....

Apparently my 2 1/2 year old dryer is failing me. The heating coil is falling off in pieces. We found this out after moving the dryer, unscrewing a million screws and scrutinizing the dryer guts. Dh looked our appliance up online and got the part number. He called the part store this morning and they wanted $30 more than ordering direct from the manufacturer....so we will be doing some online ordering today. I am also going to put the "one towel" rule into effect for the week. Yes, instead of 2 new towels every day (one for the hair, one for the body....mom's with girls will especially understand this one!), you get one or two to last through the next five days....or at least until the new part is put in.

On to other exciting news....oh, wait. There is no exciting news in my life! I keep forgetting....

I started cleaning a while ago. I moved some furniture in Betsy's room and now I'm tired. I didn't sleep well last night and a nap would be nice right about now. Should I? If I close my eyes, I can almost feel the softness of the freshly washed (and dried, thankfully!) sheets. I could drift off into a peaceful slumber for a while....oh, it is so tempting.

Well, obviously I have some serious thinking to do now....to sleep or not to sleep....that is the question of the morning. I'll let you know how the drama plays out....

It appears it was a sad day for dryers across america yesterday. My dryer will be laid to rest this morning :-( as she quit working for about the 10th tine yesterday. I heard a terrible rubbing noise but wanted to get the clothes dry so I let it go. Big mistake, when I was folding the load I noticed that all of the items that were in the dryer were stained with some kind of black grease :-( :-(
So we will be making arrangments for the burial of our dryer today. We have had to fix her just one too many times.
I wish your dryer a speedy recovery :-)
Take Care,
Kim

ahhhhhh Yes they alwasy quit at the most inconvient times. YesI found that by ordering directly from the maufactor Icna save money. I had to replace a hose on my vacume and It was going ot be $26 from the store I went and called the manufactorer and they said $16 each one was plus shipping and handling. OH Yeah waht a mark up in the store. that man makes ten bucks per ummmmm five minutes!!!!??????? Not off me he dont. So today my question is do I clean or wait till tomrrow. O H yeah tomrrow I shop OH Yeah thats right. WEll I go to chripractor today so that means clean after I get my back feeling good DANG IT!!!!!!!!!! Did you get the limewire download installed. ???????? Lori

that is bad news about the drier, hope you manage to get it sorted soon. I have no idea how my Natalie manages to use 3 towels each shower, 1 for hair, 1 for body, 3rd for??? Girls are so funny as well cos they will only use a towel once and its put for washing. I have to put Micks and Anthonys in the wash when they are out of the house. Have fun making pancakes :)..........Jules xxxxxxxxx

Man, I hate when problems happen with our washer and dryers!!  You don't know how wonderful they are until you don't have them around!  And, you don't even want to head to a laundramat!  EGADS!!  I actually use 3 towels with each shower, you would hate me!  One for my hair, one for my body and one for the floor!  Hey, I had to go with the 1 towel rule until I moved out of my house at 19, so now I live it up!!  Even though I am the one doing the laundry!  Hope everything gets fixed and quickly (but with your hubby I know it will be done soon!).
Hugs and love, Lisa

My vote is TO SLEEP!  I envy mothers of children who are old enough that they can go and nap without worrying. lol  Somehow that doesn't work out with a 1 year old and 3 year old. (I know...by the time they are older I will have to worry about other things that will keep me from sleeping. LOL)
