Ahhhhh, much better....

First, I'd like to say thanks to all those who left sweet comments and sent e-mails and cards....I feel much better. It's nice to know I've got so many caring and wonderful friends here in j-land! That being said....on to other things....

Yesterday wee one had her very first massage. Now, before anyone says "Yeah, did you hear JBCoupe lets her 10 year old get regular massages? How spoiled is that?!", let me remind you that this was a birthday gift from her aunt who is very much into "natural healing" and "herbal remedies", etc. In any case....wee one has been counting down the days. Her class at school have planners in which they are to write down assignments, homework, etc. and every evening the parents have to sign it to make sure they have done their work and to check for any upcoming tests, etc. Well, as I'm signing it I see that in the Wednesday box she has written in big letters, "massage!!!!" LOL. The teachers check these planners as well....goodness knows what they were thinking.

She told me her plan was that she would not look at the clock at school until lunch time (so the day would go quickly). After lunch it's not long until they go home, especially since yesterday was an early release day. Around 3:30 her aunt picked her up and they were on their way. Her appointment was for 4:00, then they were going to dinner. She got home after 7:00 and I could tell right away she had a wonderful time.

I asked her how it was and her eyes got huge and she said, "WONDERFUL". LOL. My aunt was laughing saying that she knew what to get her for her birthday every year. Later on that evening I was sitting with wee one and asked her to tell me all about it. She told me she had to fill out health forms (do you have asthma, etc.), and then there was a picture of a body and you had to circle anywhere you didn't want work done. She said she circled her right knee....since she had sprained it falling off the scooter. Then she told me about going into the room, the music that was playing which was "kind of Indian sounding, then they had forest sounds". She described the face ring and said that it was scented with lavender and grapefruit essential oils, but the woman said she would change it if she didn't like it. I asked her if she liked it and she said oh yes! She said there was a little fountain in the room and the water was relaxing. Then, the woman was putting the oil on her hands and getting ready and wee one said, "I thought, come on! I am ready!" LOL....I asked her what she thought when she first started the massage and she rolled her eyes in a look of pleasure and kind of went limp....lol....I'm taking that as meaning it felt good.

I asked her if any of it hurt and she said only one time on her side, and that the woman had told her if anything hurt just to let her know and she would stop....wee one said, "I couldn't tell her mom. I didn't want to hurt her feelings. I only wanted to compliment her!" LOL....what a nut. After it was over she said she was a bit dizzy and the woman gave her some water. All in all I think it was a wonderful experience for her. She told me last night that she thinks she should have another one in North Carolina. I asked her why and she said, "So I can compare and see what they do differently in the mountains." Ah yes Grasshopper, you are  a quick learner....

i am so happy that she enjoyed it so much...my kids got me a massage and pedicure for mothers day a couple of years ago...the massage hurt me so bad that i was in misery the whole time...i think my problem was that i have fibromalysia and that affects the joints...i kept asking the guy to do it lighter but each time he got too hard and it was the most painful experience of my life...but the room was awesome...just like your daughter said...that alone and i could have been out like a light! the pedicure was wonderful though...told the kids that next time thats all i want! mmm getting my feet massaged for an hour...ohhh my! anyway...im sure the teachers all thought it was great that she got such a nice gift...anyway...its none of their business anyway!

HOW CUTE!!!  I love that she was getting impatient and was ready to go! LOL  I've never even had a real massage before, so I'm a little envious of her ;)  Lucky girl. ~Melissa

What a fun experience for her.  It's an amazing thought to think that a ten year old girl might benefit from a massage.  I guess I'm always thinking about how tired moms are and how much we deserve them... but think of how stressful their lives can get as schools pile on the homework, and expectations mount as they grow into preteen.  What a blessing that your baby got to experience a time to release some of the stress that takes it's tole on the body.

She will treasure that forever!

How fun for her.  My 10 y/o is always asking about getting a massage but I told her not until she is 16. LOL  If she is sore today, it will be due to the massage, make sure she continues to drink lots of water that helps with the soreness afterwards.

Hi, yes massages I love them. my husband and I use to swap out massages all the time. After his passing I trained my boyfriend to do the same. I also love to get professional ones. I have had so many in my travels I can tell you there are great ones and not so good of ones out there. I also have a funny story about kids telling at school. my grandson had to write his favorite place to go in the second grade. He wrote and read out loud I love to go to the casino with my Granny Pearl (me) lol

Ahhh, Wee One learns fast doesn't she?!?!  Massages are a wonderful thing for the young and old!  I used to massage all my children when they were babies and actually still get requests from them to massage legs that hurt from growing or to massage their head because they have a headache.  They love it and it is a great bonding experience.  I also make my own essential oils here and massage oils. You will have to let me know which scent Wee One liked the most and I can send her some "home made" for you to massage her when she is feeling achy or just crabby!  :)
Hugs and love, Lisa

Awe that was the cutest and sweetest thing ever. I can't believe she did it. I was so shy as a kid I couldn't even talk to a stranger never mind let one touch me. Hey you could give her massages for free. No nevermind..you have enough work you give yourself. Never mind i said that at all

I should check into getting a massage... never had one but I think it sounds like it would be very nice... except if someone touched me I would probably jump off the table and start doing karate and say words like, "Stay Back, I'm a Mom..." just like I did when hubby talked me into the haunted house in Niagara Falls... well, maybe I would be relaxed, it all depends on my mood I guess.  Glad you are feeling better!!

ooo massages are a wonderful thing, now she is hooked! lol
I had my first one in TX and it was awesome. I had one here when Ben was deployed, one of my friends paid for me to go, guess I was a bit stressed out? lol
So between TX and GA they are the same....heavenly!

How lovely. It's great to give an experience not a 'thing' as well. We all have too much stuff!
