And so, the countdown begins. My mother in law will be here tomorrow evening. Sigh. So much for my evenings on the computer, lounging about all day with my pj's and bon-bons, etc., etc. Actually, she is not hard to entertain, and we get along well. It will be a nice visit.
Today is "hat day" at school. My youngest decided on her fishing-style hat, (you know, the ones with the floppy brim), that has the power puff girls on it. It's very cute, and she looked adorable in it. Her hair is down to her butt, so the hat looked really good....and it will keep fly-aways at a minimum. I am not a "hat person". I would love to be, but I just don't look good in them. You see those moms who run around with the baseball cap and pony tail, dark glasses and size 0 Tommy Hilfiger jeans, and it makes me want to be able to pull off that look....well, I'd have to grow longer hair, lose 50 lbs, and, well, I do have the dark glasses....but it throws off the look if you don't have the other components.
As I was sitting at the bus stop, my daughter pointed out the little squirrel window cling I have in the upper left hand corner of my windshield. She remembered that it was from her Spot book she has when she was small. She asked me why I kept it up there, and I told her because it was cute. In actuality, I keep it there to remind me that I'm not that far from being nuts....lol. Actually, it reminds me that no matter how nuts you may be feeling, there will always be someone who loves you for you. (The squirrel loves nuts....lol). I know, it's weird....but it gives me a strange sort of comfort.
Okay, now I really do have to get going with my morning. I need to clean and wash and pay bills....busy day, busy day!

Now I want a squirrel window cling---you make it sound so---goofy!!!! LOL Anyway, have fun preparing for the big visit. I just thought of something else to keep her busy--if she likes books, gather all the books you have (I'm assuming you read here), and let her choose a book. That would give you a little time to yourself if you need it. Oh, and she could babysit for you while you went out shoppin (I guess that's not such a good idea, but I thought I'd throw it in anyway).
Good luck getting everything done. Hurry so you can come to journal land this evening. I'm doing the same today (cleaning, bills, etc.) only luckily my mother in law will not be coming! I am the one who needs the squirrel! On second thought maybe I just need a cling of the nut! LOL!
LOL I have the dark sunglasses too but more like a size 20 jeans...think it'd work??kidding..love your journal...

the lurker =)
I am envious of the skinny moms too. And I love hats but don't look good in them either. I Hope you have a nice visit with mom in law. I'm sure you will still find time on the computer when she is spending time with the kids or something. Or going to sleep or something.
I had a cling of some sort that came from my kids and I also kept it up in the car for the longest time, mostly because it reminded me of the days they were younger and actually CUTE! LOL Cute story of the cling. Enjoy your visit with MIL. Oh, I can't pull of the look either, I think a lot of it has to do with the size 18 jeans, heavy sigh.

I' m not a hat person either. I wish I was because then I wouldnt have to do may hair all the time. I am getting one of those straw cowboy hats this summer. Maybe I can wear real real real short shorts with cowboy boots and my hat and I can look like I came from Hee Haw
Man woman! You put me to shame! Everytime I read your journal entries you are cleaning! It's amazing actually! You, Kara and Karie must have the cleanest houses in the entire country I swear! Me, I am lucky to make it through the day, nevermind actually clean the house! And, for the record, I don't like hats either. There are a ton of moms that wear that "look" you described since I live in a rich and snobby town. Is it only the rich women that pull this off or what?! Because I don't know many poor women going around looking like that! Oh, and they also have a full face of makeup too under their dark glasses. So, what's the use of wearing the dark glasses I ask?! Hmmmmm! LOL!
Hugs and love, Lisa
thats great what the squirrel reminds you of, I like that....hey, I have sunglasses and size 20 tommy jeans.but no hats for me..guess we can start our own clique! We can call it "the really cool be ourselves cleaning journal writing looneys" ..lol
