Beautiful Day....

It is gorgeous outside right now. It's 57 degrees, and the rain is gently coming down. By the looks of the sky, the rain has settled in for the day, which is fine by me. I miss my rainy days....we don't get many of them here in sunny Fl. While sitting in the car at the bus stop, I let the windshield fill up with raindrops and wouldn't use the wipers. I remember as a child, loving it when my mom would do that. It made me feel safe; like I was in my own little cocoon. My daughter asked me not to clear the windshield, because she liked it better when it was full. Maybe it is a kid thing. Wanting to feel protected, warm, loved. Days like these make me feel happy and secure. I think it's in the blood....as a child, my Mom was the happiest when it was raining and cozy out. She would clean all day, then make a comforting dinner and just enjoy having the family around. We always joked that we would never be able to live in Florida, because there were too many sunny days....I have to say, I am getting used to the sunshine, and even look forward to it. But in my heart, nothing beats the steady drumming of raindrops on the roof and wonderful memories of days gone by.

I am the complete opposite of you. I HATE raindrops on my windshield. I fiddle relentlessly with all the buttons in my car because I need EVERYTHING perfect when I drive. No smudges (or raindrops) on my windshield--I need crystal clear windows. I know what you mean about rainy days in FL. There are so few, you do kind of look forward to having one. It's like you don't feel right laying around when there's sun, but if it's raining, there's a darn good excuse for laziness...

Not wiping the rain drops off the windshield is something my hub enjoys. It makes me insane. Must be nice to have so much Vitamin D. Maybe thats what I'm lacking. I was hoping for an audio entry to play for Ronnie. I like you're "hello from jacksonville florida" If a radio producer reads these journals I'm sure youre going to be offered a job.

I love the rain too, but only if it's in the summertime so we can go out and play in it, or during a thunderstorm. I absolutely LOVE the power of mother nature when a storm is brewing. We stand outside and watch until it's not safe anymore. Hopefully my children will have memories one day like yours. But, I think it will be more like "My crazy mother made us stand outside in thunder and lightening!". Hee-hee!

We had this liitle room in our house, actually it was a cubby under the roof that my dad made for storage. My mom put a small fold up bed in there and we would all fight to sleep in there when it rained, beacuse of the sound of the rain on the roof.

I was born and raised in Florida but I've always loved the rain, especially the big storms. It makes the whole family want to have a big pot of homemade soup and play board games. It's just one of those comfort things I guess.

Great entry....I live where it hardly ever rains, and so rainy days are the best...
You are making me wish for one now...
